Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)

”Su Yubing!” she exclaimed, her voice a mix of shock and indignation.

Su Yubing, a mischievous glint in her eyes, feigned innocence. ”Oh, my apologies,” she purred. ”Did I touch something I shouldn’t have?” Discover more stories at freewebnovel

Mo Yuxin, flustered and speechless, could only glare at her.

”Such a sensitive spot,” Su Yubing continued, her voice laced with amusement. ”Though, I have experienced all of it myself.”

Mo Yuxin, her composure shattered, sputtered incoherently, her face burning. ”You... you...” she stammered.

Su Yubing chuckled, a soft, melodious sound. ”Don’t worry, Yuxin,” she said, her voice regaining its warmth. ”I won’t tease you too much. For now.”

Mo Yuxin, still flustered, averted her gaze, her heart pounding. As Su Yubing’s breathing evened out, her body relaxing against her, a comfortable silence settled between them. The teahouse, once again filled with the gentle murmur of conversations, faded into the background as Mo Yuxin focused on the warmth of Su Yubing’s presence.

The anxiety that had gripped her moments before slowly dissipated, replaced by a strange sense of peace. She couldn’t explain the comfort and belonging she felt in Su Yubing’s presence. It was as if, despite the lingering gaps in her memory, a part of her recognized and yearned for this closeness.

As the morning sun climbed higher, casting its golden rays across the teahouse, Mo Yuxin found herself lost in thought, her gaze fixed on Su Yubing’s peaceful face. The playful banter, the unexpected touch, the shared vulnerability – it all painted a picture of a connection that went beyond mere companionship. It was a connection that hinted at a deeper bond, a shared history that transcended the boundaries of memory.

And as she sat there, holding Su Yubing close, Mo Yuxin couldn’t help but wonder if perhaps, just perhaps, this was where she belonged, in the warmth of Su Yubing’s embrace, where the echoes of her past intertwined with the promise of their future

Mo Yuxin, still cradling Su Yubing, felt a sense of tranquility settle over her. The lingering anxiety about Jiang sang and the Hua family cultivator faded into the background as she focused on the gentle rise and fall of Su Yubing’s chest against her own.

Su Yubing, her breathing now steady and her color returning, stirred in Mo Yuxin’s arms. She blinked open her eyes, a playful glint returning to their depths. ”My, my,” she murmured, her voice laced with amusement. ”What a comfortable position we’ve found ourselves in.”

Mo Yuxin, her cheeks flushing slightly, averted her gaze. ”It’s... just temporary,” she mumbled, her voice barely audible.

Su Yubing chuckled, a soft, melodious sound. ”Of course, of course,” she said, her voice teasing. ”Just temporary. Until I regain my strength, and then...” She paused, her eyes twinkling mischievously. ”Who knows what might happen?”

Mo Yuxin’s heart skipped a beat, a strange mix of apprehension and anticipation coursing through her veins. She couldn’t deny the warmth that spread through her chest, the comforting feeling of Su Yubing’s presence.

”Speaking of the future,” Su Yubing continued, her voice taking on a more serious tone, ”have you given any thought to what you plan to do? Now that you’re... well, you.”

Mo Yuxin frowned, her brow furrowing in thought. ”I haven’t,” she admitted, her voice hesitant. ”I’m still trying to... to understand who I am, who we are.”

”We?” Su Yubing echoed, her eyes widening slightly.

”Yes,” Mo Yuxin confirmed, her gaze meeting Su Yubing’s. ”We. You and me, and... and Lu Wuqi.”

Su Yubing’s expression softened, a warm smile gracing her lips. ”Ah, yes. Lu Wuqi. Our daughter.”

Mo Yuxin’s heart ached with a strange, unfamiliar longing. She didn’t know Lu Wuqi before. But there was a faint echo within her, a whisper of maternal love that resonated deep within her soul.

”Wonderful?” Su Yubing echoed, her lips curving into a playful smirk. ”Darling, she’s a terror. A brilliant, adorable terror, but a terror nonetheless.”

Mo Yuxin’s brow furrowed. ”A terror? How so?”

”Let’s just say,” Su Yubing began, leaning closer with a conspiratorial glint in her eyes, ”that she has a knack for finding trouble. And for getting me into trouble along with her.”

”You make it sound like you’re an unwilling participant,” Mo Yuxin countered, a hint of amusement in her voice. ”From what I’ve gathered, you’re quite adept at finding trouble yourself.”

Su Yubing feigned offense, her hand fluttering to her chest. ”How can you say such a thing? I am a model parent. Responsible, attentive...”

”Attentive?” Mo Yuxin raised an eyebrow, skepticism coloring her tone. ”You left our daughter to attend a night market, and then proceeded to get into a brawl with a group of thugs.”

Su Yubing pouted, her lower lip jutting out in a childish display. ”That was an isolated incident! Besides, she’s perfectly capable of taking care of herself. She’s a cultivator, after all.”

”She’s also a child,” Mo Yuxin retorted, her voice firm. ”Children need guidance, supervision...”

”Oh, she gets plenty of that,” Su Yubing interrupted, waving a dismissive hand. ”After all, her mother, dear Yuxin has enrolled her in every conceivable class Cangran has to offer. Cultivation techniques, swordsmanship, alchemy, calligraphy, even flower arranging! The child barely has time to breathe, let alone get into trouble. You really want to make her the next sect leader, right?”

Mo Yuxin’s brow furrowed, a flicker of recognition sparking in her eyes. ”Wait,” she said, ”I do remember enrolling her in those classes. But how did you know?”

Su Yubing’s lips curled into a sly smile. ”Ah,” she purred, ”a little birdie told me.”

Mo Yuxin narrowed her eyes playfully. ”A little birdie, hmm? I’ll have to interrogate the gossip network later.” She paused, a thoughtful expression crossing her face. ”But I still don’t understand the flower arranging. Why on earth would I sign her up for that?”

Su Yubing’s smile widened. ”That, my dear, is the question of the century. Even I, with my supposed knowledge of your eccentricities, am baffled by that one.”

Mo Yuxin tapped a finger against her chin, pondering. ”Well,” she said slowly, ”perhaps I thought it would help her cultivate patience and focus. A calm and collected mind is essential for a leader, after all.”

Su Yubing raised an eyebrow, skepticism dancing in her eyes. ”Flower arranging? For focus? You could have just made her meditate.”

”Where’s the fun in that?” Mo Yuxin retorted with a playful wink. ”Besides, a little appreciation for beauty never hurt anyone.”

Su Yubing chuckled, shaking her head. ”You’re incorrigible,” she said, a hint of fondness in her voice.

Mo Yuxin felt a warmth bloom in her chest at the compliment, even if it was wrapped in a lighthearted tease. Their relationship was... complicated. The echoes of their past, the whispers of a deep connection, were undeniable. But with Mo Yuxin’s memories still fragmented, a cautious distance remained between them.

”Perhaps,” Mo Yuxin conceded with a slight smile.

They finished their tea, the conversation lingering in the air like the fading scent of jasmine. As they rose to leave the teahouse, a comfortable silence settled between them. It wasn’t the awkward silence of strangers, but rather the comfortable quietude of two people who understood each other, even with the unspoken questions hanging in the air.

Stepping back into the bustling marketplace, the vibrant energy of the city swirled around them. As they navigated the crowded streets, Mo Yuxin’s gaze was drawn to a pair of figures walking hand in hand ahead of them. She recognized them instantly: her third junior sister, Tianjin Yuan, known for her reserved demeanor and exceptional medical skills, and her fifth junior sister, Bai Lingshu, the quietest and most introverted of their group.

But what surprised Mo Yuxin was not their presence, but their demeanor. They weren’t simply walking together; they were intertwined, their fingers laced together, their gazes locked in a silent conversation that spoke volumes. They didn’t look like fellow cultivators; they looked like lovers.

Mo Yuxin’s eyes widened in surprise. She glanced at Su Yubing, who was also watching the pair with a knowing smile.

”Well, well,” Su Yubing murmured, her voice laced with amusement. ”It seems we’re not the only ones with secrets.”

Mo Yuxin nodded, a slow smile spreading across her face. The world, it seemed, was full of surprises. And she walked alongside Su Yubing, a comfortable distance maintained between them.

The journey back to Cangran Sect was a quiet one. Mo Yuxin, still processing the revelations of the day, found solace in the familiar rhythm of Su Yubing’s footsteps beside her. They didn’t speak much, the unspoken questions and lingering uncertainties hanging in the air between them. Yet, there was a comfortable ease in their silence, a sense of shared understanding that transcended words.

As they approached the towering gates of the sect, a wave of nostalgia washed over Mo Yuxin. The familiar sights and sounds – the towering pagodas, the serene gardens, the distant hum of chanting.

They passed through the gates, greeted by the respectful bows of the disciples guarding the entrance. As they made their way towards the inner courtyard, Mo Yuxin’s gaze was drawn to the bustling activity around them. Disciples, clad in the distinctive blue and white robes of Cangran, hurried along the pathways, their faces filled with purpose. The air hummed with the energy of cultivation, a tangible reminder of the sect’s dedication to the pursuit of strength and enlightenment.

They made their way towards Shanglong Peak, the familiar path winding its way up the mountainside. Upon reaching the peak, the grand mansion that served as their residence came into view. As they walked through the courtyard and entered the Dharma Hall, Su Yubing stretched languidly.

The day passed quietly without any more events. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across

the courtyard, a sense of quiet settled over the mansion.
