Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 995: Chapter 83: Refresh

Su Xiao walked towards the arena, his steps neither hurried nor slow. Due to his low ranking in the Third-tier Arena, this trip was likely to be an easy win.

Bang.

A contractor walking towards him bumped into Su Xiao’s shoulder. Su Xiao gave the person a sideways glance, and for some reason, a trace of anger rose in his heart at that moment.

The Second Tier contractor took several steps back after being looked at by Su Xiao.

”Brother, I was a bit distracted just now. That look... isn’t necessary, right?”

The Second Tier contractor felt a chill from Su Xiao’s gaze.

”It’s nothing.”

Su Xiao walked away. The trace of anger that had surged in his heart just now wasn’t because he was narrow-minded. In the past, he wouldn’t have cared about being bumped into.

The reason for this was that he had devoured a small amount of energy from the Dragon of Resurrection. After all, that dragon clan energy passed through his arm and most of his shoulder. No matter how gentle the energy of the Dragon of Resurrection was, it was still dragon clan energy, whose greatest characteristic is berserk.

This berserk feeling wouldn’t affect Su Xiao forever, just for the next few days, Su Xiao would be more easily angered. Fortunately, he could control his emotions well, and after a few days, the side effects of devouring dragon clan energy would disappear.

Soon, Su Xiao reached the arena, where contractors were constantly entering and exiting. Here, they could hone their combat experience without worrying about dying, making it the most popular facility among contractors.

[You have entered the arena, please choose a mode.]

[Arena Mode/Spectating Mode.]

[Spectating Mode: Allows watching other contractors compete, costs 5 Paradise coins per hour, and you can choose matches to watch.]

[Current matches in progress: 7,354.]

[To watch the top 1,000 arena rankings, it costs 30 Paradise coins per hour.]

[To watch the top 100 arena rankings, it costs 100 Paradise coins per hour.]

[To watch the top 10 arena rankings, it costs 300 Paradise coins per hour.]

...

Su Xiao had never spectated before, nor was he interested, so he directly chose arena mode.

[Arena mode is divided into ’Solo Battle’ and ’Team Battle’, please choose.]

Su Xiao chose Solo Battle. The sensation of teleportation appeared, and he was transported to a lounge.

The lounge had a simple setup, with a crescent-shaped sofa and a coffee table in front of it. On the coffee table were food, fruits, drinks, and so on— all available for free consumption; treatment for Third-tier contractors was indeed different.

A semi-transparent screen floated in front of the sofa, displaying Su Xiao’s information and the ranking list.

[Hunter’s arena ranking has been refreshed, currently ranked 125,743rd (Third-tier).]

[Arena Competitor: Su Xiao.]

[Status: Good.]

[Ranking: 125,743rd (Third-tier).]

[Win streak: 0.]

[Top ten rewards: Not obtained.]

...

Su Xiao’s ranking was around 120,000, which meant that 120,000 people in the Third-tier had participated in the arena.

This didn’t mean there are only hundreds of thousands of Third-tier contractors. The mortality rate for contractors is extremely high, and they mostly die in Derivative Worlds, making it difficult to accurately count their numbers. The one certain thing is that there are definitely more than hundreds of thousands of Third-tier contractors, as contractors are constantly advancing to the Third-tier, possibly reaching several hundred thousand, or even more.

[Matching an opponent for the Hunter.]

[Matching in progress...]

[Match complete, opponent’s rank: 125,641st.]

The opponent’s rank was about a hundred places higher than Su Xiao’s, which shouldn’t be too difficult to handle.

The sensation of teleportation appeared once more. It was still a stone circular ring with tiered seating around it. Unlike when Su Xiao competed in the Second-tier, now that he was ranked low in the Third-tier Arena, the audience was fewer than ten people.

”Garlic, come on～”

”I feel like Garlic is going to lose.”

”No way, Garlic’s defense ability is strong, and the opponent is clearly a close combat type, so they won’t be able to do anything to Garlic for the time being.” ℯ

The few spectators present were friends of Su Xiao’s current opponent, essentially meaning there was no audience.

[Three, two...]

The countdown began, and Su Xiao looked at his opponent. This time, the opponent was quite peculiar.

The reason the opponent was peculiar was because the man named Garlic held a shield in each hand and carried a defensive item similar to a pot on his back. With stripes, it would look like a turtle shell.

Moreover, the opponent wore a yellow safety helmet that flashed with dark purple light, which turned out to be a piece of Dark Purple Equipment.

Overall, the opponent wrapped himself up tightly, seemingly lacking a sense of security, with the only exposed parts being his eyes.

”Matched with an opponent ranked over a hundred places away, luck is on my side.”

Garlic raised his eyebrows at Su Xiao, his manner showing some provocation.

[Battle, start!]

The moment the start was announced, the Dragon Slash at Su Xiao’s waist flashed out of its sheath. His gaze instinctively scanned his surroundings, a habit developed from long-term combat.

Once the battle began, Su Xiao would immediately unleash his aura, which was almost instinctual for him.

A red metal mask covered Su Xiao’s lower face, and along with his erupting aura, Garlic, a dozen meters away, suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.

He bent over, both feet charging with strength.

Boom!

Su Xiao rushed towards his opponent like a cannonball, the air rippling into waves due to his high-speed charge.

”This isn’t good!”

Garlic panicked. He initially thought he had a chance to win this battle since the opponent’s rank was more than a hundred places different from his own. In the Third-tier Arena, a hundred ranks difference would lead to a one-sided fight.

”Garlic, surrender, durability!”

A girl in the audience shouted. Although fighting in the arena wouldn’t result in death, if equipment was damaged, it would still require a repair fee, similar to when equipment durability is damaged in a Derivative World.

Hearing the shout from the audience, Garlic wanted to surrender immediately but was overwhelmed by a faint red aura.

As the faint red aura swept over him, Garlic felt stinging pains all over his body, causing him to pause instead of shouting out his surrender.

Whish～

The sound of something cutting through the air hit, and before Garlic could react, he suddenly felt the world spinning. His view dimly saw a shield being sliced into two.

When Garlic regained consciousness, he was already in his exclusive room, still holding a half shield in a defensive posture, looking rather comical.

Seconds later, Garlic realized what had happened. The difference in power was too great; he had been instantly defeated.

Due to the shattering of his shield, Garlic, heartbroken to the point his lips trembled, opened the battle log.

[Note: You have been affected by an unknown ability, entering a state of panic, stamina consumption +27%, body defense -15, and an 8% chance of failure when using skills.]

[Note: You have suffered lethal damage (beheading), damage statistics as follows.]

[You have lost 205 Mana Value due to the erosion of an unknown energy.]

[You have suffered 328 points of True Damage + 240 points of Defense-Ignoring Damage + 267 points of Blade Damage + 64 points of True Damage + 305 points of Basic Damage + 438 points of Lethal Damage.]

[The damage endured has exceeded the maximum life limit.]

[Vital part hit, instant death judgment failed due to arena mechanism.]

...

Seeing the series of defense-ignoring, never-before-seen blade damage, and terrifyingly true damage, Garlic swallowed hard. He couldn’t help but wonder, if he encountered such an enemy in a Derivative World, what would happen? He would definitely die. With the speed the enemy had demonstrated, even escaping would be pointless.
