Chapter 958: Chapter 46: Annihilation Law and the Insect Tribe

The ladder is steeper than imagined, and at the upper exit of the fourth layer, a layer of rainbow-colored light film covers the exit.

Su Xiao approaches this layer of light film and clearly feels the space-time power on it. He tries to touch the light film, and a suction force appears.

Before his eyes flicker with light and shadow, Su Xiao is forcibly sucked into the light film.

Thud, thud, thud...

After Su Xiao’s vision recovers, a knocking is heard.

As his brain gradually adapts to the dizziness after teleportation, Su Xiao looks around and finds himself in a lounge.

The lounge is entirely constructed from a kind of brown rock, with several benches fixed to the room’s walls. A blood-stained rag is thrown on the ground, and the lounge environment is somewhat damp, with a faint smell of blood lingering in the air.

Drip, drip...

Blood drips down. Not far from Su Xiao, a creature with a cyan-white carapace covering its body sits on a bench. It resembles a human in shape, except its legs and head are fully encased in carapace, and its two arms are carapace arm blades, where chips can be faintly seen.

Su Xiao scrutinizes this creature from an unknown planet; it somewhat resembles the Insect Tribe.

”Ga-ga-ga-ga... (Unknown language)”

The Insect Tribe creature says a lot, but due to language barriers—no, rather due to different pronunciation methods—it doesn’t use language to communicate but exchanges information through sound waves of a special frequency.

”Ga-ga-ga-ga-ga! (Unknown language)”

Judging by the pitch, this Insect Tribe creature seems somewhat angry.

”Woof.”

Bubu Wang barks, trying to negotiate with the Insect Tribe creature using ’Dog Language.’

”Ga-ga-ga! Ga-ga-ga! (Unknown language)”

The Insect Tribe creature stands up, glaring at Bubu Wang, with Bubu Wang’s dog face looking bewildered.

”What did it say?”

Su Xiao is somewhat puzzled.

”Woof.”

Bubu Wang’s expression shows a bit of grievance, meaning it was just greeting and expressing friendliness.

”Seems... it’s not very friendly.”

Su Xiao sits on a bench, leaning against the wall. He has just received a notification from Reincarnation Paradise that the fifth game is about to start; he needs to collect his number card in ten minutes. The Void Colosseum will then commence, and he will learn the detailed rules at that time.

The Insect Tribe creature keeps a wary eye on Su Xiao, with clear anger in its eyes behind a transparent membrane.

”It appears to be very angry?”

Su Xiao indicates to Bubu Wang to ignore the creature.

”Ga-ga-ga-ga!”

As Su Xiao suspected, this Void Insect Tribe creature is indeed angry, for reasons unknown.

About ten seconds later, Su Xiao realizes why the creature is so angry: he has intruded into its lounge.

This Void Insect Tribe had conflicts with other races before and was injured after the confrontation, thus returning to the lounge provided by the organizers.

Su Xiao’s sudden appearance afterward made this already injured Void Insect Tribe creature tense. To be precise, this Void Insect Tribe wasn’t angry but nervous, wanting to drive Su Xiao out of this lounge.

The language barrier led Su Xiao to mistakenly think the Void Insect Tribe creature was angry.

Su Xiao senses an opportunity here. If he participates in the Void Colosseum, the identity of Shadow of Annihilation Law might be exposed, even if the Blue Steel Shadow Ability isn’t used. He wants to test now what identity Shadow of Annihilation Law holds in the Void.

Su Xiao’s pupils turn light blue; this is the color of Blue Steel Shadow and one of the most apparent traits of Shadow of Annihilation Law.

Seeing Su Xiao’s light blue eyes, the Insect Tribe fellow pauses, raises its arm blade to scratch its head, seemingly recalling something.

Two seconds later, the Insect Tribe fellow’s body stiffens.

Five seconds later, the Insect Tribe sits straight, body leaned against the wall.

Eight seconds later, the Insect Tribe’s backside scoots sideways and quickly sits in the corner; saying it’s cowering in the corner trembling is hardly an exaggeration.

”The reputation of Shadow of Annihilation Law seems... quite formidable?”

Su Xiao casually flicks away the cigarette butt in his hand. This seemingly careless action triggers the nerve of the Insect Tribe fellow, causing it to jump up and brandish its two arm blades before it, blades twitching continuously.

”What on earth has Shadow of Annihilation Law done in the Void.”

Seeing the reaction of this Void Insect Tribe, Su Xiao is somewhat troubled; the interaction is clearly a victim’s instinctive reaction, infused with ancestral instinct.

”Can you understand what I’m saying?”

Su Xiao attempts to communicate with this Void Insect Tribe.

The Insect Tribe fellow taps its ear’s position with the tip of its arm blade, nodding to indicate it can understand Su Xiao’s language.

”Do you recognize me?”

The Insect Tribe fellow shakes its head and then nods, as bioenergy pulses through its body, indicating perhaps it’s from biological evolution, not magic class?

Buzzing—

The Insect Tribe creature emits a buzzing noise from its mouth, like a radio with poor signal.

”Banke... not... enemy of Annihilation Law, Banke is... life evolution race.”

This Insect Tribe creature named Banke speaks. Though its speech is intermittent, it can at least communicate normally.

”Are you nervous?”

Su Xiao wants to seize this probing opportunity as he will soon participate in the Void Colosseum. Understanding Shadow of Annihilation Law’s current situation is crucial.

”Banke... not nervous.”

The credibility of Banke’s claim of not being nervous is questionable; it stands on the wooden chair in the corner, its eyes have glanced at the iron door of the lounge multiple times, ready to escape at any moment.

”Rest assured, I don’t have malice for now.”

Once Su Xiao utters these words, an unexpected event occurs.

The Insect Tribe fellow Banke seems to exhale deeply, it sits back on the bench, and the arm blades cease shaking. Witnessing this unusual scene, Su Xiao is very puzzled.

”You seem to trust Shadow of Annihilation Law a great deal?”

”Of course, Annihilation Law... never deceives the Insect Tribe.”

Banke adapts to the current language usage, speaking more fluently.

Shadow of Annihilation Law not deceiving the Insect Tribe likely implies certain hidden circumstances or generational covenants.

Su Xiao suddenly realizes, Shadow of Annihilation Law in the Void doesn’t seem to be enemies with everyone. From what he knows, the Demon Clan and Shadow of Annihilation Law are allies, and very good allies at that.

Generally, obtaining something from demons means becoming a demon’s servant or sacrificing a soul. However, Su Xiao obtained the Devil’s Mark without any deals with the demon.

Moreover, a powerful demon upon learning of Su Xiao’s acquisition of the Devil’s Mark immediately erased the original lower tier demon power within the mark, infusing it with high-level demon power without requiring Su Xiao to pay any price.

It seems to allow Su Xiao to wield Devil’s Mark containing low-level demon power would be quite humiliating for the Demon Clan. Clearly, it’s an act of kindness showing off the strength of demon power to an ally.

Just how high tier the demon power within the Devil’s Mark now is remains unclear to Su Xiao. However, during War World, the demon power within the Devil’s Mark completely suppressed Carlos’s alien demon power and easily devoured it, demonstrating that the demon power adhering to Su Xiao’s body is likely not of a low tier.

Most commonly, humans who wield demon power would endure the erosion of demon power one way or another, yet Su Xiao doesn’t feel this way; demon power appears to him as pure energy that is easy to control.

Now, the connection between Shadow of Annihilation Law and the Insect Tribe assures Su Xiao that Shadow of Annihilation Law isn’t entirely hostile within the Void; it has many foes yet numerous allies too.

For example, this Insect Tribe fellow, upon learning Su Xiao bears no malice, actually lies back on the bench, almost completely relaxed. Though its gaze occasionally falls on Su Xiao, like seeing something rare.
