Chapter 977: Chapter 65: Free-for-All

Clap, clap, clap...

Three crisp sounds of breaking tokens were heard consecutively, and the National Team Brothers got up and walked toward the notary office. They also gave up the match because their opponent this round was the Insect Tribe Banke.

In an instant, eight contestants withdrew.

”What! Eight contestants have withdrawn??”

Commentator Hak was full of disbelief. He hadn’t hosted a Void Colosseum match for a long time, and according to previous situations, after the second round of the match, at least more than 40 contestants would be left, but this time only 22 remained.

This year’s Void Colosseum could be considered the most brutal in a century, caused by the overwhelming number of spectators.

Being remembered by more people is undoubtedly a chance to make a name, and after gaining fame, one would attract the attention of various forces, naturally leading to more opportunities. This time, there were a full three million spectators. In the early stages of the competition, the contestants almost reached a no-holds-barred degree in their quests for fame, causing the number of casualties to rise significantly.

Now, in the later stages of the match, the contestants gradually calmed down, and some who were not top-notch in strength and had injuries began to hesitate, wondering if they should continue competing.

It’s worth knowing that among this year’s contestants are quite a few tough individuals, such as the famous Wind Prince, the Insect Tribe’s fighting Bank, the Gray Stone Clan from Stone Star, the Iron Tough Krof, the Ear Hunter Raisa, and even more unbelievable, the Annihilator also participated in this competition.

Facing these seemingly unwinnable opponents, some contestants who were not strong enough and were injured hesitated.

Crack, crack.

Again two crisp sounds, two contestants who were seriously injured gave up the match. Both stared blankly for a moment, smiled at each other, and walked toward the notary office.

”A shocking reversal, only ten contestants remain!!”

Hak shouted hoarsely, leaning back.

Upon hearing only ten contestants remained, there was a moment of silence in the audience, followed by a thunderous cheer.

”What will happen next?”

Hak was excited to the extreme, aiming the speaker at the audience.

”Death duel melee, death duel melee, death duel melee...”

The audience’s shouting was deafening. Su Xiao pinched the token with his thumb and middle finger, prepared to give up the competition. After all, the rewards for the top three were unknown, and he didn’t want to stay in the Void Colosseum too long. For him, the Void was too dangerous right now.

However, upon hearing about the death duel melee, an idea flashed in Su Xiao’s mind. If it was as he guessed, the Void Colosseum could end within an hour. Having participated for three days, if the upcoming match wasn’t long, then participating wasn’t a big deal, considering the rewards for the top three.

The odd thing was, Su Xiao still wasn’t clear about what the top three rewards were. The Void Colosseum seemed confident in the rewards offered, and indeed, even without announcing the rewards, many contestants still participated.

”We invite the remaining ten contestants to enter the arena.”

Upon hearing Hak’s shout, Pibang raised an eyebrow and then realized something. He had been puzzled about one thing: why the Void Colosseum, with such standard regulations, had such high popularity.

Now it seems the Void Colosseum’s matches are anything but standard, rather innovative.

While the early stages of the Void Colosseum matches were indeed standard, when the number of contestants reaches or is less than ten, the rules change.

Ten contestants enter simultaneously and melee, ranking based on the order of death or withdrawal. The last person standing is the winner of the Void Colosseum.

In the ten-person melee, one can withdraw. If there are six people left after withdrawing, the withdrawer’s final ranking is seventh place, even if more die afterward, the withdrawer’s rank doesn’t rise.

If one doesn’t last till the end, then it’s a test of withdrawal timing. Withdraw too early, and the ranking is relatively low; withdraw too late, and there’s no more afterward, late withdrawal means death.

The organizers don’t care about the rationality of the ten-person melee; they’re after popularity. As for contestants collaborating leading to unfair matches, it’s purely a lame argument. The ability to collaborate is also part of one’s capability.

This is the Void Colosseum, almost devoid of rules, not a ring fight. Its style is: yellow sand, blood, beauty, honor, life-and-death combat.

The strong get everything, the weak go out horizontally, just simple and direct.

Su Xiao ventured into the yellow sand field, while the other nine stood at each corner of the field.

The battle arena’s atmosphere peaked; Hak felt the timing was right and quietly contacted the arena’s manager. Who knows what Hak negotiated with the manager, but his lips curled up.

”According to tradition, the rewards for the top three will be announced before the death duel melee starts.”

Hak waved a hand, and three scantily clad women walked onto the commentary platform with trays, each cover with a black cloth, while a large screen behind the audience turned on.

”Firstly, the prize for third place is the Aikenki Type 3 Combat Support Device.”

Hak pulled off the black cloth from one of the trays, revealing a high-tech arm armor. On the screen, a close-up of the ’Aikenki Type 3 Combat Support Device’ was shown.

The audience was momentarily silent; the third place reward was valuable. The Aikenki Combat Assistance Device had considerable fame within the Void, even the type one could fetch a sky-high price, let alone the type three.

”Hahaha, are you regretting not participating, and there’s something else you’ll regret even more.”

Hak pulled off another black cloth; on the second tray was a ’document,’ not a document but an approval letter.

”Approval for a High-vibration Steel Mine, the mine located on South Tethys Star, free mining without tax after acquiring this approval.”

Hak swallowed involuntarily; it’s not just the audience, even he was tempted. High-vibration steel is a special metal material, extremely expensive, essential for alchemy, high-level mecha, weapon crafting, and some high-tech products. It is sold by weight in ounce grams, a strand of hair weighs about 2.3 ounce grams. The smaller the sales measurement unit, the higher the price of the item, showing the preciousness of High-vibration Steel.

”Wow~”

There was an uproar from the audience; not only were the spectators envious, but even the large forces recruiting talent were envious. Whoever obtains that approval letter, even if their strength is not impressive, the major forces will recruit them vigorously and offer high status.

The ability to put forth such rewards also shows how profitable the colosseum business is; even ’golden’ profit is an understatement.

”Now! It’s time to announce the prize for first place, this time the prize is...”

Hak was silent, as a commentator, he couldn’t suppress his greed.

The black cloth on the tray was pulled off, revealing a crystal the size of a fist on the tray, entirely emerald green, and the wooden tray in contact with the crystal sprouted buds. This wasn’t just withered wood greeting spring, but deadwood reborn.

The rich aura of life spread, and the few million spectators below seemed bewildered. Most didn’t recognize what it was at first glance, but those who knew were suddenly risen, breathing heavily.
