Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

To be honest, no one expected that the first thing they’d see upon arriving in another world would be such a scene.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, is this really our world? You didn’t come to the wrong place, did you?”

Meiyin blinked, asking in disbelief, while Fang Zheng scratched his head, not knowing how to answer for a moment. Instead, Mel quickly reacted.

”Is this really the time to ask that? Hurry and rescue her!”

Shouting loudly, Mel drew the longsword at her waist, slashed several times at the iron cage, and effortlessly cut it open. Then Mel bent down, crawled inside, and came to the side of the blonde girl.

”Are you okay? How are you?”

”I... I...”

Hearing Mel’s inquiry, the blonde girl didn’t know what to say, shaking her head with a look of anxiety and unease.

”You, you should leave here quickly, Vlad, Vlad is about to return...”

”Eh? What is she saying?”

Mel completely didn’t understand what the blonde girl was saying. At most, she knew Japanese and English, and now this language of another world, but other languages... Mel was completely clueless.

However, just at this moment, a voice sounded from behind the crowd.

”Oh my, I never thought that while I was out, a few little mice would sneak in.”

Upon hearing the voice, everyone turned around, only then noticing at the doorway a silver-haired young man in a suit. At this moment, he was standing there, looking at them with a cold smile.

”What a strange getup, you don’t look like police. Could it be you are martial investigators? I never expected you to find this place, truly a lapse on my part.”

”—————!”

Seeing his appearance, the blonde girl seemed even more terrified, curling up in a ball and shivering. Seeing this scene, Mel angrily raised her longsword and pointed it at the man in front of her.

”Are you the one imprisoning this child?”

”That’s right.”

Unexpectedly, the other party seemed to understand Mel’s question and smiled, giving a reply.

”For a bitch, this suits perfectly, doesn’t it? Even worthless waste still holds value, it’s a grace I’m giving her.”

”Nonsense!!”

At this, Mel was instantly outraged. She flashed forward, and the next moment she appeared in front of the man, hacking down with a sword. With a ”boom”, the man was directly slashed away by Mel, crashing heavily against the wall beside him.

”Mel, did you kill him?”

This time, Meiyin, who was watching, asked with trepidation, while Mel shook her head.

”No, I just knocked him out. What next? This guy is a villain, right? Should we call the guard force... oh no, should we call the police?”

”Heheheh...”

However, as Mel’s words just fell, suddenly, a chilling laughter sounded. Looking back again, they saw that the man had actually stood up!

”No way!!”

Seeing this, Mel widened her eyes in surprise.

”Even with the force I used, it would be enough to knock out an earth dragon!”

...With such force, someone should be dead.

Hearing this, Fang Zheng and Meiyin both rolled their eyes.

”I really didn’t expect to meet such a good specimen...”

The man lifted his head, staring at Mel with a gaze that sent shivers down her spine.

”Your blood... must be delicious!”

As he spoke, the next moment, an astonishing scene unfolded. Right before everyone’s eyes, the silver-haired man’s body suddenly began to swell, enlarging like the Hulk, completely covered in pitch black fur, resembling some kind of werewolf that looked like a hulking hairy giant.

Upon seeing this, both Mel and Meiyin were stunned, while the blonde girl curled up again, trembling.

”This, what on earth is...”

”Hahaha, prepare to suffer———!”

However, before the werewolf could finish his words, Fang Zheng raised his right hand, and immediately the pitch black greatsword shot out with blinding speed, piercing through the werewolf’s body, pinning it firmly to the wall. The next moment, flames erupted, and in an instant, the werewolf, which had just intended to launch a vicious attack, was burned to ash.

A creature that imprisons girls has no necessity to live.

”Phew...”

Watching the werewolves burn into ashes, Mel and Meiyin finally breathed a sigh of relief.

”Is this really our world, Mr. Fang Zheng?”

Meiyin asked incredulously.

”I had no idea our world had werewolves in it.”

”Yeah, yeah.”

Mel nodded in agreement.

”If it were superpowers, I could understand.”

”Hmm...... hmm?”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng was taken aback.

”Your world has superpowers?”

”Yes, Mr. Fang Zheng, don’t you know? Our world even has an Academy City dedicated to superpower development.”

Saying this, Mel became a bit excited.

”To be honest, I initially wanted to apply there, but my mother thinks modifying the brain is too dangerous, and she feels superpowers are unreliable, so I didn’t enroll......”

Saying this, Mel sighed. If she had applied to the Academy City at that time, who knows, she might have had superpowers, and even if she encountered an accident, she wouldn’t have died with her eyes wide open.

However, upon hearing this, Fang Zheng was completely puzzled.

Academy City?

Wait, I’ve heard of this name before, and it’s very familiar!

But thinking carefully, it makes sense. Although Mel and Meiyin were from modern Japan in their past lives, no one said which background of modern Japan they came from, right? Perhaps for them, the development of superpowers is like game development in the SAO world, baffling to people from other worlds but already considered common knowledge in their own?

But anyway...... let’s rescue this girl first!

Soon, Fang Zheng held the girl wrapped in the cloak out of the basement, and it was only then that they realized they had time-traveled to an ancient castle, and at this time, the girl finally stuttered to explain her situation to them.

Her name was Riko Mine, her parents died when she was eight, and the family’s fortune declined thereafter. She was then deceived by the werewolf—Vlad, who took her in as a foster daughter, but in reality, he only wanted to use her bloodline to breed superior offspring. After being lured to Vlad’s ancient castle, Riko had been locked in a cage by Vlad, living on rotten meat and cold water. To Vlad, Riko was merely a ”breeding dog,” and so he treated the girl like a dog.

”That’s so cruel......”

Upon hearing Riko’s account, Meiyin and Mel were dumbfounded. They never expected such things could happen in their world......

Frankly speaking, in that world, Mel and Meiyin had witnessed many cruel events, especially Mel, who had a deep understanding of it after being beaten by goblins. But that was in another world—a fantastical medieval world where such cruelty seemed almost expected to Mel and Meiyin.

But they never thought such things could also happen in their own world......

Incidentally, during the investigation earlier, Fang Zheng had already confirmed this was indeed Mel and Meiyin’s world because when he used personal terminals to hack the network, he found Mel and Meiyin’s pre-rebirth materials and news. Mel’s news was relatively plentiful because rescuing a little girl bravely on the way home from the graduation ceremony of a prestigious high school was positive news, which was widely reported at the time.

Meiyin, however, had a bleaker situation, appearing a few times only in the list of earthquake casualties...... It was just that her death was quite unique, so the news mentioned it once; otherwise, one would probably only find her in the list of deceased.

But anyhow, these reports confirmed that this indeed was their world beyond any doubt. It’s just that before this, they were ordinary people who knew nothing about this world’s dark sides. Now it seems this world is evidently not as beautiful as they previously believed.

Despite this, Fang Zheng was mentally prepared for it. After learning about ”Academy City” from the two, he was ready for the possibility that this might be another anomalous world, so he wasn’t surprised.

And now......

”What should we do next, Mr. Fang Zheng?”

”I’ll take you back to see your families first, isn’t this why you came here?”

Hearing Mel’s inquiry, Fang Zheng thought for a moment and then replied. At the same time, he reached out and patted the head of the sleeping blonde girl next to him.

”As for this child, she’ll stay with me for now. After all, she said she has nowhere else to go.”

”Ah, hmm......”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Meiyin and Mel nodded, but their expressions were conflicted. They both missed their families deeply, but the problem was, how would they meet their families? After all, in this world, they were already dead. If they showed up at the door claiming to be their daughters, no one would believe them.

”What’s wrong? Why the long faces?”

Seeing Mel and Meiyin’s hesitant and uneasy expressions, Fang Zheng curiously asked, and Meiyin frowned.

”It’s just...... Mr. Fang Zheng, I’m worried...... I don’t know how to tell them......”

”Is that all? Don’t worry.”

To the two’s surprise, Fang Zheng quickly gave them an answer upon hearing Meiyin’s concerns.

”Leave it to me, I have a way. You just follow what I say.”
