Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1543: Chapter 1541: The Power of the Magic Eye

The giant branches gathered together like a mighty army, surrounding the five people from all directions. The sharp branches resembled long spears, stabbing toward their targets.

Facing these branches, Ryougi Shiki was fearless. She flashed her figure, followed by a glint of blade, and the ”army” of branches in front of her was instantly shattered. Ryougi Shiki effortlessly swung her dagger again, attacking the nearby branches.

Although both were connected to the Origin, there was actually a significant difference between Ryougi Shiki and Sajou Aika.

Fang Zheng had investigated this too. Unlike Sajou Aika, while Ryougi Shiki was connected to the Origin, she did not enjoy its benefits.

The reason is simple: it’s about the method.

The approach of the Ryougi Family to connect with the Origin is to endow it with a personality, which is a correct idea, wrapping the intangible in a tangible entity. It’s like people; simply saying ”people” could refer to the six or seven billion people worldwide, so who knows whom you’re referring to.

But if you say a name, the scope of limitation becomes smaller, and if you add qualifiers like country, city, street, company, position, gender, it defines and captures one’s existence more precisely.

And the Ryougi Family used this method to fixate the Origin hidden among countless numbers.

However, this also creates a problem.

That is the distinction between oneself and the other.

Everyone is an individual, and when the Origin acquires a ”fixed” concept, there are only two outcomes: either it erases Ryougi Shiki’s personality, or it exists as another personality among them. But in this way, Ryougi Shiki couldn’t enjoy the benefits from the Origin.

It’s like if there are two people named Wang Er, but the first Wang Er is a normal high school student, and the second Wang Er is the CEO of a multinational company. Even with the same name and appearance, the former cannot possess the wealth and rights of the latter.

The relationship between Ryougi Shiki and the ”origin” is like this.

But Sajou Aika is different. She has been connected to the Origin since birth, so one could say the Origin is her, and she is the Origin. So Sajou Aika can do whatever she wants, however she wants.

This is the difference between being born and adopted.

If Sajou Aika were here, dealing with the child of the Fuhai Forest would be as simple as her snapping fingers.

However, Ryougi Shiki doesn’t enjoy such treatment.

This is also why Ryougi Shiki can leisurely stay in this world, unlike Sajou Aika, who has already hidden herself in the Game World, unwilling to go home, busy making games, looking quite content with it.

It’s like the concept that if you don’t work hard, you’ll have to go back and inherit a vast fortune.

Despite this, thanks to the help of the Eye of Direct Death, Ryougi Shiki remains rather relaxed. At least, more so than Gray, who doesn’t have the Eye of Direct Death, thus she charges in wielding a scythe-like weapon — after all, she’s required to play the tank role, and no one expects her to contribute much damage.

And the other DPS is Asakami Fujino.

Her fighting method is even simpler than Ryougi Shiki’s.

”Twist,”

Asakami Fujino said softly as she gazed forward, and then the massive entity formed by dozens of tree branches twisted and collapsed, transforming into a pile of twisted debris in the blink of an eye. Moreover, those branches surrounding from all directions similarly disintegrated.

Unlike in the animation where she awakened in a life-and-death situation, Asakami Fujino has formally awoken and mastered her Clairvoyance and Distorted Magic Eye usage thanks to systematic learning.

If we talk about threat levels, the Eye of Direct Death is naturally the strongest. However, if it’s truly about large-area damage, Fujino ranks first. Her use of the Distorted Magic Eye has gone beyond simply face-to-face observation. Now, Asakami Fujino can leverage her Clairvoyance to overlook everything around herself from above and twist it.

This usage method is somewhat akin to a drone airstrike, meant for large-area AOE full damage.

However, drone airstrikes aren’t done casually and require a lot of assistance, such as radar guidance.

Fortunately, there is someone responsible for this among the three people.

”Fujino! At six o’clock direction, in that forest!”

Accompanied by Shizune’s shout, Fujino slightly shifted her gaze, and then witnessed the forest along with the ground being twisted and torn apart by invisible forces, exposing the hidden roots and vines underground, which were subsequently shredded into pieces.

As for Olga Marie... she was completely stunned at this moment.

Ryougi Shiki and the others are known to possess Magic Eyes, a fact Olga Marie is aware of since the Red Ponytail mentioned upon their first meeting that the World Tree of a Thousand Realms received an invitation from the Magic Eye Collecting Train, so they came to see who dared to act so boldly on the World Tree’s territory.

At that time, Olga Marie felt no emotion, even wanted to laugh.

But now... she finally understood where their confidence lies.

Magic Eyes are not actually rare for a magician, but the rank of Magic Eyes owned by magicians from the Clock Tower is generally very low. For example, her attendant Trisha has a Magic Eye of Future Sight, which is already considered quite rare. In reality, Magic Eyes truly capable of combat application are extremely few.

However, seeing the power displayed by Asakami Fujino’s Magic Eye, Olga Marie feels secretly amazed.

Just a glance can tear the earth and twist all things. This power is even beyond the capabilities of ordinary magecraft!

Trisha once mentioned that a Rainbow Magic Eye would appear at this auction. Could this be the Rainbow Magic Eye?

But......

”Just this alone won’t work! It’s merely draining your power!”

Although being a magician, Olga Marie could only stand at the side as an observer, yet it didn’t mean she couldn’t understand the situation. Indeed, the strength of the group was formidable, but they were only at the perimeter of this forest. Blocked as they were, they couldn’t advance further. Continuing like this would lead to a battle of attrition...... And an attrition battle would obviously be disadvantageous for them.

”Do you have any ideas?”

Ryougi Shiki casually sliced through a pile of branches and roots as she asked the question. Olga Marie hesitated for a moment upon facing Ryougi Shiki’s question, but soon provided an answer as she was still a magician.

”The child of the Fuhai Forest relies on the spirit veins of this land to act. If we find the foundation it’s using to absorb the spirit vein magic power...... Perhaps we can sever its connection with this land. Without magic power support, it’ll be much easier from there!”

”Can you find it?”

”Of course...... I can sense it......”

”Alright, let’s go!”

With that said, Ryougi Shiki without hesitation grabbed Olga Marie and dashed into the depths of the forest, causing Olga Marie to jump with fright.

”Wait, what are you doing?!”

”Can’t you feel that thing? Tell me where it is quickly!”

Ryougi Shiki wasn’t skilled in sensing and understanding the flow of magic power; she was purely a combat type, simply charging headfirst. Besides...... wasn’t there someone else to handle the thinking?

”Over there! Fifty meters away!”

Despite feeling annoyed, Olga Marie pointed out the direction. Yet even so, she didn’t stop her complaints.

”You’re too reckless! Even knowing the location of the foundation, separating it is incredibly difficult and time-consuming! Right now we simply can’t......”

”Found it!”

Just as Olga Marie’s sentence remained unfinished, she saw Ryougi Shiki’s eyes suddenly light up, fixating on the nearby ground. Then Olga Marie watched her leap forward, clutching the small knife tightly, and stabbed forcefully into the ground!

”———————!!”

Around them, the piercing cold wind seemed to abruptly halt at this moment. The next instant, a scene unimaginable to Olga Marie unfolded.

The surrounding trees began to rapidly wither, erode, and turn into dust, disappearing into the air. Moreover, the nearby ground started to tremble and transform, adopting a completely new appearance. Quickly, the snowy forest vanished, replaced by a wilderness—this was the land’s true form.

”How... how did you do that?”

Of course, Olga Marie understood what had happened, as the foundation of this area had been severed, causing the child of the Fuhai Forest’s body to collapse due to insufficient magic power.

The phenomenon itself was easy to comprehend; however, it couldn’t explain how the young girl in front of her accomplished it!

To know, the child of the Fuhai Forest was inherently a plant. Its emergence was as if its roots had penetrated deep into the spirit vein, drawing magic power from the earth’s spirit vein to reveal itself. So to sever the magic power, one must pull these roots out from the spirit vein.

If it were up to Olga Marie, she would probably need considerable time and a lot of precious magical tools. Yet, this girl merely needed a single strike! She directly severed the foundation of the Fuhai Forest!

It was just an ordinary small knife!

Was this perhaps some kind of mysterious magical tool?

Despite Olga Marie’s bewildered inquiry, Ryougi Shiki silently stood up and glanced at her.

”Weren’t you thinking of buying my Magic Eye?”

”.........”

Upon hearing this, Olga Marie was stunned, staring at Ryougi Shiki’s eyes that shone with radiant colors, feeling as if her own blood had frozen.

Though Ryougi Shiki didn’t explicitly say it, Olga Marie had already guessed her intentions.

The Direct Death...... Magic Eye......
