Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1516: Chapter 1514: Let’s Catch Little Fairies

The Little Angel truly lived up to Fang Zheng’s expectations. She easily completed the entire system in just one day.

”So... is this it?”

Fang Zheng reached out his hand, looking at the pattern floating before him, and began to inquire. The Nymph nodded in response.

”Yes, Master. As per your request, I’ve improved the whole system... For now, it basically meets the requirements.”

”Hmm, it’s indeed quite good.”

Looking at the pattern before him, Fang Zheng nodded in satisfaction. The Little Angel didn’t create anything particularly special; instead, she just packaged the program into software integrated into the personal terminal at the Heavenly Dao Palace, available for anyone to download. As for the operating system inside the software, the Little Angel also adhered to Fang Zheng’s directions, referencing the system from the Four Sacred Weapons.

The Four Sacred Weapons can acquire relevant attributes and skills after absorbing any objects, and the Nymph modified this, allowing the acquisition of relevant attributes and skills after signing a contract with a target. In other words, if Fang Zheng were to sign a contract with a rabbit, the skill tree would show the rabbit’s inherent skills and skills available for upgrading—of course, these are marked with question marks and remain unseen until the rabbit reaches a certain rank.

According to the Nymph, she also completed the specialization aspect Fang Zheng mentioned, faithfully replicating the Four Saints’ upgrade system. In essence, regular small animals reach a maximum of Level 40, and can only proceed to secondary and tertiary evolutions after using a Reincarnation Crystal. As the Little Angel explained, a Reincarnation Crystal is essentially a limited-edition divine power catalyst mutation tool. To put it simply, it injects a fraction of divine power into the animal’s body, which then sees what it will ”evolve” into.

Though this requires consuming Fang Zheng’s divine power, he doesn’t mind. If he truly becomes the God of Games, retrieving divine power will be more convenient then, and as they say, you need wool from the sheep, it’s just a bit of upfront investment. If the Nymph didn’t mention that these animals can’t handle a large amount of divine power, Fang Zheng might be more inclined to add more.

However, when the Nymph suggested incorporating the Familiar Spirits system from the Nanoha World into the ”game,” Fang Zheng pondered for quite a while but eventually shook his head.

”Forget it, let’s not add that.”

”Why, Master? Anthropomorphizing it could make it more popular, right?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s reply, the Nymph questioned in surprise. Although she’s not an expert in game development, she’s spent enough time around Fang Zheng to have heard plenty. Notably, Fang Zheng has mentioned more than once to the Nymph that anthropomorphizing in mobile games is the simplest, most convenient, and most favored strategy—when it comes to money, it’s a quick fix.

When all else fails, you can anthropomorphize flowers, rice, wheat, bows, crossbows, swords, and even cockroaches, as there’s always an audience.

If the target demographic is female, anthropomorphize a bunch of handsome guys; if targeting otaku males, anthropomorphize a bunch of cute girls. The next step is to divide probabilities based on rarity and then offer top-up options... naturally, that’s the key focus here.

This is why, upon hearing Fang Zheng’s plans to make a game about small animals, the Nymph instantly thought of this. Moreover, in her view, this would make for an excellent selling point if anthropomorphizing were possible.

”It’s just a game, but this is real life; games can mess around, but reality can’t.”

Fang Zheng sighed helplessly. Truth be told, the Nymph’s suggestion has merits, and Fang Zheng is tempted. Fortunately, besides being a game planner, he is the ruler of the Heavenly Dao Palace. Besides considering issues from the game perspective, he needs to consider other matters.

For instance, if these animals became anthropomorphized, should they be granted human rights?

It’s akin to owning a pet—having cats or dogs is fine, but owning a person isn’t feasible. It’s the same logic with these animals; if they become human-like, they’ll surely have similar human thoughts and ideas. So what do we do then—continue raising them? What if they resist?

Even enacting laws stating that anthropomorphic animals aren’t true humans but serve as servants at Level One won’t work—this is precisely the origin of subhuman and human conflict in the Shield Hero World. Fang Zheng certainly wished not to experience it in his world.

It’s similar to the clones—an inevitable disaster. In fact, over ninety percent of Hollywood clone movies are nonsensical. Though these movies generally portray the post-birth threat of clones to humans, Fang Zheng finds it all mere anxiety.

Some movies depict using clones as slaves for labor—which Fang Zheng finds ridiculous. Unless that world follows a Zerg-like science tree, machines outperform humans in any labor efficiency. Relative to non-stop 24-hour mechanized production, clones still need food, drink, rest, and to relieve themselves. Treating them like pre-liberation serfs would be exhausting and inefficient, expending more food, risking plague, and enduring public condemnation. Benefits are non-existent, only a heap of drawbacks—is it worth it?

Further cinematic portrayals suggest that clones are created for organ harvesting—equally absurd. Cloning organs is simpler than cloning humans, eliminating ethical risks. Conversely, even if you clone a backup human, unless you keep them submerged in nutrient pods like The Matrix of Hackers, there’s no guarantee against accidental death or escape—rendering losses irreplaceable.

Should we raise them like pigs? Would the harvested organs be healthy?

They’re likely full of fatty liver, hypertension, and diabetes.

The fact remains: movies are an artistic creation worth watching but not something to be taken literally.

If there were species in the new world capable of becoming human, Fang Zheng might engage with them. However, as the world comprises only animals, Fang Zheng naturally wouldn’t get entangled in the mess as seen with movie villains, creating further trouble for himself... only to clean it up afterward.

In short, as long as the species are below a certain intelligence level, it remains unproblematic—opposing parties likely lack the concept of ”enslavement,” making coexistence easier. Conversely, once higher intelligence emerges, conflicts and issues such as power hierarchy, social status, and ranks arise... things that are nothing but headaches.

Thus, after thorough consideration, Fang Zheng turned down the Nymph’s suggestion. Although it seems like Familiar Spirits in the Nanoha’s Magic World have their own management system, Fang Zheng remains uncertain about its applicability. Curbing potential threats before they germinate—avoiding them outright—is the best strategy.

Another reason Fang Zheng rejected the proposal is that it’s detrimental to children’s ideological education.

Exactly, if your pet can transform into a human, why bother socializing with others? Just look at Precia as a prime example; since Elysia’s unfortunate death, Precia has secluded herself at home, striving to resurrect her daughter. No grocery shopping, no cooking, just fixated on bringing Elysia back, eventually lost in obsession.

Why? This is because she has two Familiar Spirits performing her chores and cooking for her?

If she had nothing, Precia certainly wouldn’t have been stuck at home with tunnel vision all day, she might even socialise, make friends, and land upon a wondrous encounter or two—might it have saved her heartache?

This anthropomorphism is unacceptable; animated paper characters already nurture legions of shut-ins. Imagine a bunch of devoted pet girls doing your laundry and cooking every day—soon enough society would never leave home!

From societal perspectives to fostering well-rounded development, anthropomorphism is the least conducive to maximizing Fang Zheng’s interests.

After all, taking your pet out allows enjoying harmony together; walking out with your pet girl—that’s less harmonious, isn’t it?

Aside from this, the Little Angel did quite a decent job. Naturally, it wasn’t devoid of problems—the main issue being...

”Why is it blue?”

Staring at the badge before him, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but comment. The emblem looks fairly nice, but its color always reminds Fang Zheng of the health certification stamps on beef, lamb, and pork...

”Pick a brighter one. Hmm, not so dark, lively, more appealing, ideally giving off a sacred vibe... just do whatever you think’s best. Hmm, after finishing that, don’t rush it out, get some people for a beta test to see how it goes...”

Though Fang Zheng wished to complete the task immediately, he restrained himself, instructing the Nymph to follow the procedure. This isn’t a mere game; it’s one set to change the world, so careful planning followed by market release is essential.

Additionally, Fang Zheng plans to provide a few beta access slots to alleviate the little girls’ impatience, as they’ve long clamored about the lack of pets. Some, initially on the Swarm side due to physical constraints, even chose Jumping Bugs, Hydralisks, and Thunder Beasts as their pets......

Clearly, this aesthetic preference belongs to a minor faction.

”Understood, Master. Now for the final question: what would you like to name this game?”

”Name it... Hmm... Name...”

At this point, Fang Zheng furrowed his brow.

Pokémon? Digital Monsters? Demon Beast World?

Got it!

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng suddenly had an idea.

”Let’s call it Digital Pixie!”
