Chapter 1531: Chapter 1529: White Princess (A Cat Rolling While Biting Its Tail)

Generally speaking, at this time, a character like a magical girl who fights for justice should appear, right?

However, the white figure that descended from the sky had nothing to do with elegance or innocence; she raised her right hand and swung it forcefully at the zombie’s head.

”Smack!!”

In the next moment, the zombie’s head burst open like a tomato, and its headless body flew backward, crashing into the wall not far away before stopping.

But that wasn’t the end.

”Ugh...ugh...”

Perhaps startled by the white figure, more zombies appeared and rushed towards her. Faced with these creatures, she seemed fearless, and with a few swipes, she dismantled all the zombies.

”So barbaric.”

Watching this, Fang Zheng remarked, and Akiha nodded beside him. As Fang Zheng mentioned, the person’s fighting style was quite primitive, wild, and rough. Without using any weapons or displaying any unique martial arts, she simply relied on brute force and speed—much like a tiger catching a chick, completely overwhelming them.

After all, she smashed them with a single swipe.

”Whew...”

At this moment, she finished off the nearby zombies and took a deep breath before turning her head, shocked to see Fang Zheng and Akiha still standing at the alley’s entrance.

”Huh? You guys haven’t left yet?”

”Why would we leave?”

As he said this, Fang Zheng snapped his fingers, and in an instant, scorching flames erupted, consuming the corpses on the ground. Seeing this, the person across from him was briefly stunned before realizing what had happened.

”I see, you’re a magician?”

”Sort of. I was just about to let my students take on some small monsters, but then someone came along and snatched them away.”

Fang Zheng crossed his arms and glared pugnaciously at the figure before him. She was a girl who looked about seventeen or eighteen, with striking short golden hair and vibrant red eyes, quite well-developed. However, her attire was rather old-fashioned, with a white sweater on top and a dark purple long skirt below, not very fashionable. If she were just strolling down the street, she’d merely look like an odd foreigner.

But here, it was different.

More importantly...

Is this girl really Aertulky’s sister?

Looking at the girl in front of him, Fang Zheng did indeed sense a pure blood aura very similar to Aertulky. But, on the surface... this is more like the older sister, whether in stature or age. Isn’t Aertulky better suited to be the younger sister?

”I see, so magicians have also gotten involved in this affair? Hmm...”

The blonde girl had a troubled expression, but she quickly shook her head.

”In that case, let’s join forces.”

”Join forces?”

”That’s right.”

The blonde girl raised her head proudly.

”I’ve come here to track down the vampire hiding in this street. He’s already killed several people, so I can’t ignore it. You guys are here for the same reason, right?”

”Huh?”

At this point, before Fang Zheng could respond, Akiha was thoroughly startled.

”There have been so many victims already?”

”Hmm? You didn’t know?”

”We just got back yesterday. We noticed something unusual about the street and came to check it out. We’re not fully aware of what’s happening here yet.”

Fang Zheng interjected deftly. Although he had already guessed the blond girl in front of him was Aertulky’s sister, he didn’t mention it directly. After all, Aertulky had been quite evasive when explaining things to him; perhaps she didn’t want her sister to know... well, in any case, if there are issues between siblings, bringing it up might just complicate things.

It’d be like the relationship between Aoko Aozaki and Aoko, Fang Zheng would rather avoid such drama, as she’s not interested in sibling squabbles.

Akiha was still in shock. After all, this was the street where she grew up, and she found it hard to believe that a vampire might be lurking around.

However, what Fang Zheng said next shocked Akiha even more deeply.

”But aren’t you also a vampire?”

”Even so... I’m totally different from the vampire hiding on this street.”

”Do you have proof?”

”Of course, I don’t have proof...”

”Alright then, let’s join forces.”

”Huh?”

Hearing this sudden twist, not only Akiha but even the blonde girl was taken aback.

”How did you reach that conclusion?”

”You said you’re here to track the vampire on this street, right?”

Fang Zheng spread his hands.

”But right now, all we see are zombies turned by bloodsucking and you, a self-proclaimed vampire passing through. Currently, you are the most suspicious. However, it’s also possible what you’re saying is true, so we can join forces. We’ll stick by your side, which would confirm whether what you’ve said is true or false.”

”......”

This time, the blonde girl was silent for a long time before she suddenly burst out laughing.

”How interesting! You, you’re really quite amusing... Alright, since I proposed it anyway, and there’s an old saying in the East about having a clear conscience and not fearing ghosts knocking on your door. If I refuse here, it will only increase my suspicion. In that case, I agree!”

As she spoke, the blonde girl extended her hand.

”I’m Arcueid, Arcueid Brunestud.”

”I am Little Red, the magical girl with justice, and this is Toyono Akiha.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng shook hands with the blonde girl.

Back on the street, the bustling and lively crowd dispersed the bloody and deathly atmosphere of the alley. Arcueid walked ahead, with Fang Zheng and Akiha walking beside her, listening to her speak.

”Not long ago, I detected the awakening of a Dead Apostle. Because it was an old acquaintance, I tracked him all the way here. But it seems this is his lair, and he’s set up some kind of disguise, so I haven’t been able to find him. I could only wander the streets hoping to find some clues.”

”So you’re saying those victims were all his doing?”

”More or less, because I felt his detestable presence.”

At these words, Arcueid showed a look of disgust. Indeed, at first glance, she seemed older, but once you start talking, you’d realize her mental age is like an ordinary kid’s, in contrast to Aertulky, who appears calm and mature.

”Are there a lot of victims?”

”Recently, the news has been reporting on it. Every day they discover corpses drained of blood, and the news even reported the killer is a modern vampire... I can’t understand why, knowing who the killer is, they don’t catch him.”

Continuous murders, and Yuzhu isn’t taking care of it?

This thought flashed through Fang Zheng’s mind, and she shrugged.

Well, given Yuzhu’s disposition, even if everyone here died, as long as it didn’t interfere with her domain, she probably wouldn’t budge.

Even as a detective, she’d be an armchair detective, not like Sherlock Holmes.

After that, the three continued ”investigating” on the street.

Though it was said to be an investigation, in Fang Zheng’s opinion, it was more like shopping.

First, they went to the food street, then to the clothing store, and then watched a film. At first, Akiha was somewhat timid and anxious, but soon she blended in and began chatting and laughing with Arcueid—proving shopping is truly a woman’s nature, one even vampires do not resist.

But unfortunately, until the sun set, they didn’t find any clues.

Which was expected, considering their activities—checking clothes, watching movies, drinking milk tea—if they found a clue amidst these distractions, it would have been truly bizarre.

”So what now? Are you staying here?”

Back in the guest room, Arcueid was lying on the big bed without any hint of the elegance of a vampire. Incidentally, this was the top floor of a hotel in Misaki Town, and she had rented the whole floor.

What a pointless showoff.

”Of course.”

Fang Zheng glanced at the sky outside the window. Although, logically speaking, he should be heading over to Yuzhu’s place now, who knew that plans couldn’t keep up with changes? He had just called Yuzhu to explain, and he hoped to gain her understanding.

No... Somehow, he felt she might throw a little tantrum.

”By the way, I haven’t asked you yet about the vampire you’re tracking. Just what kind of guy is he?”

Earlier, while they were shopping, since Akiha was having such a good time, Fang Zheng didn’t bring up this mood-killing question. But now, the fun was over, and naturally, it’s time to go home and do homework — that was both logical and inevitable.

”That guy... ”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s question, a shadow passed over Arcueid’s face.

”That guy is... a snake.”

”A snake? Yes, just like... ”

However, Arcueid didn’t finish her sentence, because at that moment, as if sensing something, she suddenly lifted her head to look outside the window, revealing a surprised and regretful expression.

”Damn it, how could it be here?!”

”It must have been watching from somewhere all along.”

Fang Zheng glanced outside the window. There, an azure crow stood on the windowsill, motionless, staring fixedly at the three of them. After being spotted, the crow suddenly shrieked, then flapped its wings and flew away.

”Unexpected that even he... ”

”Alright.”

And at this moment, Fang Zheng stood up; in fact, without Arcueid having to say more, Fang Zheng had already seen — what was going to happen in the future.

Blood, death, beast.

”Let’s talk about the remaining things later, let’s settle the current matter first.”

”Okay.”

Arcueid also nodded, but at this time, it seemed she sensed something, abruptly turning her head again to look outside at a certain location.

”Another one?”

Fang Zheng certainly felt it too, the same aura of death belonging to a vampire, coming from a distance.

”Yes, that’s the target I’m tracking.”

As she spoke, Arcueid turned her head.

”Red Ponytail, I... ”

”Go ahead go ahead, leave this side to me.”

Fang Zheng waved his hand, then walked out of the room with Akiha.

”Miss Little Red? What exactly happened?”

”Trouble has arrived, Akiha... get ready to fight.”

”Here?”

”Yes.”

Fang Zheng pressed a button. Then as the elevator door opened, the two entered the elevator, which slowly descended.

”Akiha, what do you think of this place?”

But just at that moment, Fang Zheng suddenly spoke.

”Huh?”

”Misaki Town is where you were born, right? What are your thoughts about this place?”

”I... I don’t know.”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Akiha was silent for a moment, then shook her head.

”I’ve hardly ever gone out since I was little, even if I did leave it was just school, I’m not very familiar with the people here.”

”Well then, do you want to see the people here die?”

”Huh?”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s continuous questions, Akiha was already at a loss.

”Sorry... ”

”The standard answer at this time should be ’I don’t want to,’ but the standard answer isn’t necessarily the correct answer. Maybe some people will say ’this has nothing to do with us,’ others might say ’because they’re weak, it’s normal to die.’ Everyone thinks what they say is the correct answer, right?”

”.......... ”

Akiha didn’t speak; in fact, what Fang Zheng said was exactly what she was thinking. After all, the people in this place had no relation to her, and the memories of her birth and upbringing here were not pleasant. If it were her classmates from Liyuan, perhaps she would have reacted. But when Fang Zheng suddenly asked the question, deep down in her heart was indifference.

It was not ”let them die, it doesn’t matter,” more like watching the ”Middle East war, hundreds of civilians injured and killed” on TV, understanding the meaning of this news, but not having any emotion about it. After all, that happened thousands of miles away from her, entirely unrelated to her.

So she had no thoughts on expressing any opinion.

Surely, her body still flowed with that non-human blood...

”But I don’t want.”

As if responding to Fang Zheng’s words, the elevator emitted a ”ding,” then opened the door.

”To be honest, the people here, they have no relation to me either; whether they’re alive or dead, it doesn’t bother me. But people have to live to have a future. Some of these people may not all be good, some might just deserve an early death, but... ”

At this point, Fang Zheng walked out of the elevator, glancing at the child who brushed past her and joyfully entered the elevator with their family.

”But kids are innocent.”

After saying this, she strode toward the lobby, while Akiha nervously followed behind and couldn’t help turning her head to look at the family of three.

”I hate those happy and complete families.”

However, at this moment, Fang Zheng spoke again, startling Akiha.

”Little Hong?”

”Because I myself was born in a divorced family, so when I saw kids cheerfully playing with their parents or when playmates laughed at me for being parentless, I always got angry. Silently cursing that someday they’ll end up like me, muttering that parents aren’t all that great, it’s not like you’ll die without them, right?”

”.......... ”

”Until now, my thoughts haven’t changed. So I can’t stand seeing someone flaunt their love in my face, especially those from happy families. If they dare flaunt in front of me, I’ll chop them down with a single sword. Your parents are divorced, showing off doesn’t make you better than me, you dare brag before me, I’ll kill you?”

As Fang Zheng stretched out her hand, accompanied by her movement, Frostmourne appeared in her hand.

”But if someone’s going to fight, it’s me who will do it; what are others? Dare to kill in front of me?”

At this point, the hotel’s main door opened, and then a tall man in a pitch black trench coat walked in slowly. Seeing the Red Ponytail standing in front of him, he hesitated.

”Oh, hello, vampire.”

Fang Zheng grinned, waving at him.

”I’m here to send you on your way, go to hell.”

Saying this, Fang Zheng reversed the greatsword and stabbed it into the ground.

”Sealing.”

The next moment, a fierce cold wind and a raging snowstorm transformed the entire world.
