Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1513: Chapter 1512: Truly Delightful

After arranging for Katori and the others, Fang Zheng did not immediately head to the second node. There are many ways to play real-time strategy games; some people like to rush for resources at the start and operate on multiple fronts, while others prefer to advance step by step, layer by layer.

For Fang Zheng, who likes to build bunkers and machine gun towers right at the enemy’s doorstep, he naturally belongs to the second type.

If in League of Legends it were possible to build defensive towers, Fang Zheng would be the type to construct them all the way from his own high ground to the enemy’s high ground.

Steady is the word, and I’ll only say it once.

Besides, that world had been completely eroded by beasts before. And the beasts were the epitome of Chaos pollution. That’s why when Fang Zheng restructured the planet, he used a method that in Mary’s eyes seemed like he wanted to destroy the entire world. On one hand, it was indeed necessary for restructuring; on the other hand, it was also to completely exterminate beasts that might be hidden deep within the earth’s crust, conducting a thorough disinfection.

Now that the entire planet’s ecosystem has been restructured, Fang Zheng did not leave just like that. Instead, he dispatched many people to explore that world. On one hand, it was to prepare for the construction of fortresses and cities there; on the other hand, it was to conduct a comprehensive survey of the current ecosystem of the entire planet.

Although Fang Zheng used a ”practical version of ecological cell allocation” at that time, due to the accelerated growth from Divine Power, animals in this world are evidently unlike those in the ordinary world.

For example, eagles the size of helicopters and rabbits the size of bicycles.

And they can even discharge electricity.

So after confirming the stability of the entire planet’s ecosystem, Fang Zheng sent out hundreds of investigation teams to different regions of this planet to survey the situation there. Most of them were young girls from the Heavenly Dao Palace, and others were members of delegations from the Main World.

After all, they are quite interested in such a restructured ecosystem.

Moreover, they still need to build cities on the surface, as well as Star Gates and Space Stations in outer space, which all take time. Therefore, after this, Fang Zheng temporarily halted his advancement to the next coordinate point and decided to first properly ”manage” this coordinate point. At the very least, he needed to wait until it had the most basic self-defense capabilities before continuing forward.

Otherwise, if he advanced to the front lines, and another Chaos Storm occurred, would he really have to turn back halfway?

Opening up a branch base also requires the completion of facilities, at least the defensive towers should be built, otherwise, if the other side launches a surprise attack, wouldn’t all efforts be in vain?

As for those Golden Fairies, after discussing with Katori and the others, Fang Zheng made a decision. The Golden Fairies who have not come of age will first attend school at the three schools of Heavenly Dao Palace. After graduation, they will decide whether to stay at Heavenly Dao Palace or return to build their homeland.

As for the five adult Golden Fairies, Landoruko, having grown tired of fighting, volunteered to become a librarian. Katori, Aetheria, and Novte were successfully persuaded by Fang Zheng to join the Undead Squad. After all, Golden Fairies have extraordinary physical attributes, and the Relic Weapons they wield are essentially Greatswords, making them well-suited.

By the way, those Holy Swords were taken back by Fang Zheng and sealed directly in his warehouse, planning to find a time to have Nymph study them thoroughly.

As for Neflen... well, although she also wanted to join the Undead Squad, her height did not meet the requirements, so she was dragged away by Nobiru and Tina, who shared her predicament.

As for Fang Zheng, after wrapping up the matters at hand, he returned to the Game World.

The reason is simple: the Dark Soul created by Aika and the others is about to release!

After Fang Zheng set the requirements, Eagle Leap spent the following period preparing for Dark Soul, with various advertisements emerging one after another. The media in this world also gave face, immediately taking the bait when Eagle Jump released the lure of Dark Soul.

And Fang Zheng returned to the Game World this time to hold the game release conference. Although Hikaru Yagami and the others could handle this kind of thing, Fang Zheng was not going to let it slip by. After all, this was his first game release conference since his rebirth, and he surely had to show up himself!

After all, never forget your original intention.

Even if he had become a Deity, he couldn’t forget his duty as a game developer!

How could one forget their roots?

So when Fang Zheng once again stood on stage, looking at the reporters and the flashing lights in front of him, his heart felt as refreshing as drinking a cold cola in the midsummer.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, we have heard that the game Dark Soul was approved by you. Why did you decide to make such a game after the incident with SAO?”

”Mr. Fang Zheng, does the development of Dark Soul by Eagle Leap mean that the company will once again change its business strategy?”

”Why did Eagle Leap take the risk of developing such a game after the huge success of Game King and Pokémon?”

”What kind of game is Dark Soul exactly?”

Facing the forward-stepping Fang Zheng, reporters raised their microphones, asking question after question. It’s no wonder they were so excited, as they had just watched the trailer for Dark Soul before Fang Zheng’s appearance. Although there wasn’t much information in the trailer, they could all see that this was a completely dark game, completely different from the kid-friendly Pokémon and Game King previously developed by Eagle Leap!

Of course, it’s not strange for a game company to make a dark or horror game, but Eagle Leap is different, given its past with SAO! And that game really caused deaths, hundreds of them!

Due to this dark history, Eagle Leap was on the verge of collapse before Fang Zheng acquired it. It bounced back with Game King and Pokémon, whose biggest features were that they were family-friendly and devoid of heavy themes like death and gore. At the time, many media thought Eagle Leap was evidently scared off by the SAO incident and dared not touch such themes again.

But now it seems that’s not the case at all!

This is the world I’m familiar with.

Looking at the reporters and flashlights in front of him, Fang Zheng was deeply moved. Look, what world-ending battles or conflicts between order and Chaos, these are all such trivial matters; all I want is to make good games.

Honestly, I really don’t want to care about the end of the world...

But for now, let me enjoy myself.

With this thought, Fang Zheng also reached out, pressed down slightly, and then picked up the microphone.

”First, I’d like to thank everyone for your support and encouragement for Eagle Leap. Next, I’ll be answering some questions that you all are concerned about...”

Saying this, Fang Zheng smiled slightly.

”Some believe that after the ’SAO’ incident, Eagle Leap would no longer be involved in such games. This is actually a misunderstanding. As you all know, the real culprit behind the death game incident was not us, we were victims ourselves. Moreover, as a game development company, we won’t stop moving forward because of this. We’ll continue to strive to bring more exciting, fresh, fun, and enjoyable games to players... Of course, provided we must ensure the safety of game devices.”

Fang Zheng casually made a small joke, causing a light chuckle from the crowd, as it was obviously Kayaba Akihiko’s fault, and Fang Zheng didn’t mind him being consigned to oblivion forever.

”As for ’Dark Soul’ itself... I just want to say, it’s a game full of challenges and adrenaline, where you will experience a feeling that other games cannot offer.”

Hearing this, the reporters suddenly became excited. All along, Eagle Leap’s promotion of ’Dark Soul’ had been cryptic, and the staff was reluctant to discuss it more. Naturally, this had already whetted the appetite of global players. So when Fang Zheng surprisingly decided to reveal it, the reporters immediately opened up their questions.

”Challenge? Do you mean to say ’Dark Soul’ is a multiplayer online game like ’SAO’?”

”Although it does have online features, it’s essentially a single-player game.”

”Then on what platforms will it be released?”

”AR, PC, consoles, we plan to release it on all platforms simultaneously.”

In the past, Eagle Leap didn’t have such resources, but after connecting with ’Game King’ and ’Pokémon’, Eagle Leap had already jumped to become one of the world’s largest game developers. Naturally, it had the ability to release it on all platforms.

”You said it’s a challenge game; what kind of challenge is it exactly?”

”Specifically, you’ll find out when the game is released. What I can reveal is, this game will be a test of personal limits for the player... and it will make the player stronger!”

Make the player stronger?

Hearing this, the reporters were suddenly puzzled. This is just a game, how can it make the player stronger? If you say the in-game character becomes stronger, there are many ways such as leveling up, buying equipment, etc. But the player themselves wouldn’t become stronger. Yet now, Fang Zheng claimed that this is a game that will make players stronger?

This is a big hook!!

”Really?”

However, hearing Fang Zheng speak backstage, Hikaru Yagami looked doubtful.

”I just don’t see how that game would make players stronger... maybe it strengthens your mental endurance, it’s hard as hell!”

Hikaru Yagami had tried ’Dark Soul’ herself before, and after suffering terribly, she angrily quit. She found the game to be totally inhumane and outrageously difficult. Moreover, without a difficulty setting, plus the lethal design and maps, Hikaru Yagami suspected that once the game is out, it might just receive poor reviews across the board!

”Is that so? I actually think the difficulty set by Father was too low. I initially wanted to make it a bit harder.”

Faced with Hikaru Yagami’s complaints, Aika Sajou seemed very calm. As the lead developer of the game, she was all for challenges. And for someone like Aika Sajou, who was practically born with a cheat, ’Dark Soul’ was naturally not particularly difficult.

However, aside from Aika Sajou, the other developers apparently did not share her confidence. After all, they personally debugged the entire game. It’s no exaggeration to say, when the game launches, players might storm their offices!

However, Fang Zheng naturally didn’t care about their thoughts, but continued releasing interviews, trailers, and promotional videos as scheduled, along with some real gameplay footage.

Of course, to ensure interest, Fang Zheng specially arranged for Aika to play the game, demonstrating to players how to defeat the Nameless King and Pontiff Sullivan.

These promotions had quite an impact, given the game world’s powerful engine, with gorgeous visual effects captivating audiences, coupled with the grand setting hinted at within the game, as well as the epic scenes when the protagonist wields a greatsword against the Nameless King and Giant Dragon, it instantly piqued the interest of players worldwide!

Although Fang Zheng never explicitly said how difficult this game was, game world players generally assumed it wasn’t that hard.

After all, look, if a fifteen or sixteen-year-old girl could handle the controller and pull off such cool effects, then this game must be the perfect stage for players to show off!

As a player, it wouldn’t do to be outdone by a girl in her teens, right?

With these thoughts, countless players chose to pre-order.

Now, they’re just waiting for the game release day to enjoy this splendid, refined, and exhilarating adventure!

Sitting behind his desk, watching the ever-increasing pre-sales numbers, Fang Zheng also had a smile on his face.

Truly delightful.
