Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1503: Chapter 1502: This Is the Power of Technology

”Ugh.......”

When Katori opened her eyes, it was already the morning of the next day.

”Huuu......”

She sat up, yawned, and then sighed.

Yesterday was really tough......

Feeling the vague soreness coming from her body, Katori couldn’t help but frown. Although she did follow Fang Zheng’s instructions for meditation yesterday, to be honest, Katori didn’t feel any transformation, and instead, as she expected, her whole body was exhausted. At this rate, can she really make it in time for the battle two days later?

Just then, somehow, Katori suddenly recalled the scene from yesterday......

”Aaaaahhh!!”

The girl shamefully hugged the pillow, covering her face, while her feet stamped continuously on the floor.

If possible, Katori really wanted to bonk herself on the head and forget everything that happened yesterday. Unfortunately......that’s impossible.

”Ah, Katori! You’re awake!”

Perhaps hearing Katori’s shout, soon two little girls opened the door and rushed in, cheerfully greeting her.

”How’s your body feeling?”

”Waaaaahhh!!”

Hearing the little girl’s mention of her dark history again, Katori was immediately so ashamed that she hugged her head and crouched down. She had barely forced herself to forget about it!

Right.

Thinking of this, Katori’s eyes lit up.

”Where is he?”

”Him? You mean Brother Fang Zheng?”

Hearing Katori’s question, the girl with short yellow hair hesitated slightly, unsure whether to answer. Meanwhile, the girl with long pink hair happily raised her hand.

”He’s sleeping with Neflen!”

”.........”

At this moment, Katori’s expression changed drastically.

Meanwhile, Fang Zheng was lying on the library sofa, flipping through the materials in front of him.

”Humans killed the Star God and brought her corpse to some city......can’t these damned records be more detailed? But then again, even if it was detailed, there wouldn’t be any trace after five hundred years, the oceans have dried up and the land has changed......”

Fang Zheng and Neflen stayed in the library all night, and the only gain was learning from the ”official records” that the Three Terrestrial Gods were indeed killed, and the last Star God was also killed by humans, who even placed her corpse in one of their cities. Unfortunately, the records ended there, because not long after, the seal was released, the beast hordes erupted, and humans became extinct.

In some ways, it was self-inflicted.

They killed their Creator, so they were bound to be punished.

This sentence rather fits in the Bible or some religious texts.

”Mmm......”

As Fang Zheng thought to this point, he looked down to see Neflen curled up like a cat, sleeping beside him.

A cute little kitten.

Fang Zheng reached out and stroked Neflen’s little head. At the same time, he sensed the gaze filled with resentment coming from the door gap.

”Yo, morning, Katori.”

”.........”

Hearing Fang Zheng suddenly call her name, Katori, who was glaring at him through the door gap, finally walked into the room helplessly and closed the door.

”Good morning, what are you doing?”

Katori’s voice was slightly louder, which also woke Neflen from her sleep. She sat up, rubbed her eyes, and greeted Katori.

”Researching some records about the Star God, but unfortunately, we didn’t gain much.”

”Is that so......”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, Katori nodded. She wasn’t really concerned about the Star Gods; for Katori, they were ancient relics from five hundred years ago. Presently, what she cared about most is......the battle with the beasts.

”We have two more days before we fight the beasts. Can you adjust your body in time before that?”

”Of course not, are you dreaming?”

Fang Zheng gave Katori an exasperated look.

”This is a long-term process. To be honest, I originally wanted to directly adjust your bodies, but I currently don’t have the equipment for it.”

”But what about the battle? Do we only rely on you?”

Although Fang Zheng said he would protect them, as a Golden Fairy, as a Fairy Soldier, Katori obviously didn’t like staying in the rear. They have always fought on the front lines.

”No, you will participate in the battle too.”

”But if we continue like this, our bodies won’t be in the best state for battle, and there will be problems.”

Hearing this, Katori became more worried. Magic poisoning not only sinks magic power into their muscles but also affects their movements and reactions. More importantly, if they burn excessive magic power in battle, they might die because of it. Katori doesn’t fear death, but she cannot accept such a meaningless death.

”Don’t worry.”

Fang Zheng was obviously prepared for this.

”I’ll prepare new weapons for you.”

”New weapons?”

At this point, Neflen also curiously turned her head toward Fang Zheng, who nodded.

”That’s right. If I’m not mistaken, the reason only you Golden Fairies can defeat the beasts is that the beasts’ power is quite strong, and without powerful magic attacks, they cannot be harmed, right?”

”That’s true......”

”Then put simply, only sufficiently strong attack power can destroy the beasts. If that’s the case, using weapons that can unleash powerful attack power should suffice.”

”...........?”

Hearing this, Neflen and Katori exchanged a curious glance, not quite understanding what Fang Zheng meant, and Fang Zheng didn’t elaborate further.

”You’ll find out by then.”

He just said this one sentence and ended the chat.

Over the next two days, Katori, Neflen, and Aetheria continued to meditate and train according to Fang Zheng’s method. Every night, Fang Zheng would use his power to adjust their magic power channels. Of course, this couldn’t be done without some strange noises, but gradually, Fang Zheng noticed that the trio seemed to have reactions to this ”adjustment”.

For example, Neflen seemed to start ”enjoying” the adjustments, with her cries becoming more melodious each time. Meanwhile, Aetheria continued with her ”hahaha”, ”don’t”, ”so strange”—perfectly normal responses given some people are naturally ticklish.

On the other hand, Katori’s reaction amused Fang Zheng; this girl seemed to have a bit of an M tendency. When Fang Zheng adjusted her magic power channels, Katori would show a comfortable expression. Yet perhaps due to pride or stubbornness, she would suppress any sounds despite her apparent comfort.

Simply put, it was a case of ”her mouth says no, but her body is honest”.

As a result, adjusting Katori was always the most entertaining part for Fang Zheng.

Watching Katori fight to suppress her reactions, yet outwardly acting tough as if saying ”it’s no big deal, I won’t... ah,” is truly amusing.

Finally, on the morning of the third day, the four boarded the airship again.

”Are you sure it’s okay? I’m still not feeling great.”

Looking at the floating island not far away, Katori was somewhat worried. Even after three days of training, she discovered the adjustments indeed benefited her body, like less magic power buildup and quicker fatigue relief. But this hadn’t improved her current condition, and frankly, battling under these circumstances was unpredictable.

”Don’t worry, I’m ready. Follow me.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng led the three onto the deck. At this moment, the airship was gradually approaching the floating island, where battle had already begun. On the island’s edge, a group of beasts were writhing, attacking the town.

”Alright, these are your weapons.”

Fang Zheng glanced at the distant battle, then reached out and grabbed something, as the three saw him pull a gigantic pitch-black... chunk of iron from the void.

”What’s this?”

”The M560 Hydra Missile Launcher.”

Fang Zheng patted the massive block of iron and handed it to Aetheria.

”This thing is easy to use; just aim at the target, it will auto-lock, then pull the trigger.”

”So... so this is a... gun?”

Aetheria curiously took the strange weapon named ”Hydra” and asked aloud. Despite low tech levels in this world, firearms existed as ranged weapons, so the trio was somewhat familiar with them, at least... they knew how to use them.

”A launcher... think of it as a gun, but completely different from your world’s toys.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng retrieved another huge black chunk and handed it to Katori.

”What’s this??”

”The M920 Cain Portable Power Accelerator. Be careful; one shot may obliterate half a town, don’t aim at the city with it!”

”Is it really that terrifying?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Katori gasped.

”You sure you’re not kidding me!”

”You’ll find out once you use it... Neflen!”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng pulled out a third massive black block.

”This is a Black Hole Generator, capable of creating black holes to control enemies... Just right for a real-world drill. Follow me!”

By now, the beasts had landed on the island, and Fang Zheng waved his hand, quickly leading the three off the airship’s deck, flying towards the battlefield.

Upon reaching the battlefield, hundreds of Sixth Beasts had already swarmed the floating island, advancing towards the town.

”Neflen, you first, shoot over there!”

”Got it.”

Listening to Fang Zheng’s words, Neflen slung her Holy Sword over her back, then raised the Black Hole Generator in her hand and fired at the beast horde ahead.

In the next moment, an almost imperceptible tiny dot shot out from the barrel, flew to the center of the beasts, and then suddenly expanded into a pitch-black spinning sphere.

Then, an astonishing scene unfolded.

Around the pitch-black sphere, the advancing beasts seemed bound by invisible chains, their massive bodies floated up, drifting slowly toward the black hole. The beasts were clearly bewildered, desperately trying to break free but to no avail.

”How is this possible?”

Katori widened her eyes in surprise; she couldn’t fathom that a black sphere no larger than a ball could restrain these creatures!

”Katori, fire...!”

But before Katori could think more, Fang Zheng gave another order. Katori immediately calmed her mind. Though she wielded the Holy Sword, she had also learned to use firearms. While this weapon was different, the basic concept was similar. So Katori raised the ”Cain” in her hand, aiming at the beasts bound by the black hole and pulled the trigger.

In the next moment, dazzling radiance appeared, causing Katori and the other three to turn away and close their eyes.

Immediately following, came a deafening roar.

”Boom boom boom—!!!”

Like thunderous rage, even in the sky, the heart-shaking sound was audible. After a moment, the light faded, and the trio turned their heads. What they saw on the battlefield made them gasp in shock.

Where the beasts were bound by the black hole, everything within several dozen meters had turned to ash, and even a huge crater had formed on the floating island.

”This... this...”

Katori trembled with her finger, clutching the strange weapon in her hand. If she had doubts about its power before, they were completely gone now.

”What a terrifying weapon...”

Neflen also softly marveled; just one strike had wiped out nearly sixty beasts! Normally, it would take all three of them a full hour to handle that many.

”———!!”

By now, the beasts had pinpointed the aerial threat attacking them, and soon, several tentacles shot upwards, lunging at the four.

”Aetheria, aim at the tentacles, as soon as it auto-locks, fire.”

”Like... this?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s command, Aetheria hurriedly raised the Hydra Missile Launcher, and upon hearing the ”beep” sound end, she pulled the trigger. Then, she saw dozens of fiery black objects shoot out, flying toward the tentacles.

Faced with Aetheria’s attack, the tentacles tried to dodge. But the strange black objects seemed to have eyes, even when the tentacles chose to avoid from afar, they chased like hungry wolves spotting prey.

Then, a series of fiery explosions sounded, completely obliterating the tentacles before them.

”See, it’s that simple.”

At this point, Fang Zheng clapped his hands.

”This is the power of technology.”
