Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1500: Chapter 1499: The Truth Hidden in History

Fang Zheng was not surprised by the reactions of the three. In fact, through ”Ratziel,” he had almost fully investigated the background of this world.

A long time ago, there were no humans in this world. Then, an entity known as the Star God descended from the sky. The Star God used its Soul Fragments to envelop a species known as ’Beasts’ on this planet, transforming them into humans. After this, humanity developed and grew, becoming the rulers of this planet. Their numbers increased, leading to a consumption rate of the Star God’s Soul Fragments that couldn’t keep up with the pace of human reproduction, which gradually caused conflicts to arise.

In this situation, to prevent the Star God’s demise, the Three Terrestrial Gods who followed the Star God began to fight against humans, attempting to destroy them. However, humans, of course, did not surrender quietly. They manufactured the Holy Sword and Heroes to oppose the Three Terrestrial Gods and successfully defeated them, also killing the last Star God.

But it was meaningless.

In the end, humans were still cursed, reverting to the form of Beasts and destroying everything. At the last moment, the remaining residents boarded the Floating Island, leaving the earth and beginning to live in the skies, continuing until now.

Of course, most people do not know what happened. They only know that humanity destroyed the world and consequently went extinct. As for what the situation entailed, many likely have no understanding of the truth within.

But in Fang Zheng’s perspective, the situation was clearly not so simple.

If his guess was correct, then the last Star God from the world’s background legend should be the node left in this world by the Goddess of Order. And the reason why there were only Beasts on this planet initially was clearly because the life forms on this planet were already tainted by Chaos.

As for the record in the legend that ”the Star God used its Soul Fragments to transform these Beasts into humans,” this could be seen as a node of the Goddess of Order attempting to reverse the Chaos. Unfortunately, this attempt ultimately failed.

The problem now is that Fang Zheng could only investigate what happened after the Star God was killed—that the people transported her body to an unknown place to hide it. As for where, it was unknown, possibly due to the influence of Chaos or some other issue, for ”Ratziel” could not determine the exact coordinate location.

However, Fang Zheng was not completely without clues.

Such as the three girls in front of him......

Although the Lizard Officer did not tell him anything, Fang Zheng already knew that these girls, who appeared similar to humans, were not humans, but a race known as the Golden Fairies. When the survivors of this world abandoned the earth and headed to the skies, they also faced attacks from those Beasts.

To resist the Beasts, these people had to use the Holy Sword, which was once manufactured by humans, to fight them. However, the Holy Sword could only be used by humans, which the creatures from the zoo naturally couldn’t manage. So, they used the method by which the Star God had once created humans, directly using the Star God’s Soul Fragments along with the souls of deceased children to create a race of Golden Fairies.

And only they could use the Holy Sword to fight the Beasts.

As for the cost......it needs no explanation.

Although the fate facing these girls was very tragic, Fang Zheng had thus found a method. It was rumored that the Golden Fairies would awaken memories of their past lives, leading to personality collapse. But Fang Zheng knew well that this was actually due to the revival of memories within the Star God’s Soul Fragments.

Even though it was just a node, the Goddess of Order was still the Goddess of Order. Even a lock of hair might ruin a world, let alone a node containing her power. The reason those Golden Fairies’ personalities collapsed was merely because they couldn’t bear the god’s memories and power.

As long as Fang Zheng stayed by their side and utilized their resonance with the Star God, he might find the Star God’s true form and potentially awaken her again.

However, fortunately, all the humans in this world were already extinct.

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. If humans in this world hadn’t been extinct, he would have faced even more trouble. After all, humans in this world needed to survive, but Fang Zheng’s primary goal was to repair the node, so he absolutely could not allow humans to kill the Star God, who was the node. At that point...

Just ride the Wings of Death, after all, he had many identities.

”Are you really human, little brother?”

Aetheria looked at Fang Zheng with some disbelief, curiously examining him, while Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders.

”Even if I am human, I’m not the same as the humans of this world... In any case, you just need to know that I’m on your side, here to fight those creatures.”

”Makes sense. With you around, little brother, things are much easier for us.”

Hearing this, Aetheria laughed and reached out, giving Fang Zheng a hearty pat on his shoulder. Then her eyes lit up, and she seemed to remember something as she leaned forward to Fang Zheng.

”By the way, little brother, I heard Katori say that you sang a very nice song to her before, how about you sing it for us too?”

”Of course, no problem.”

Fang Zheng nodded in response to Aetheria’s request. Then he casually reached out, pulling a guitar from the void. The three were taken aback by this scene, marveling at it. Fang Zheng then sat on the chair and began strumming the guitar strings again.

”Are you going to Scarborough Fair... Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme...”

The moonlight gently appeared outside the window, and inside the cabin, music echoed with the singing. The three girls focused intently, their eyes fixed unwaveringly on Fang Zheng.

Until the song ended.

”That was amazing!!”

Fang Zheng’s singing had just come to an end when Aetheria excitedly clapped her hands vigorously.

”You sing even better than those bards, little brother, right, Neflen, Katori?”

”Yes.”

The silver-haired double ponytail Neflen didn’t say much, just nodded lightly, while Katori blushed slightly, turning her head away.

”It does sound really good...”

”Hehe.”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng chuckled.

”Of course, after all, I’ve held a LIVE concert before.”

”LIVE?”

”It’s a concert, you know, where a large group of people gathers to listen to you sing...”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng strummed the guitar strings again and began to hum the second song softly.

”When I was young I’d listen to the radio... waiting for my favorite songs...”

It’s quite boring on the airship, and there isn’t much entertainment in this world, so just like that, Fang Zheng sang one song after another, until there was a knock on the door.

”Knock knock.”

Hearing the knocking, Fang Zheng immediately stopped playing. At this moment, the three girls snapped back to reality, somewhat displeased as they glared at the door. After all, they were enjoying the songs, and suddenly being interrupted was inevitably annoying. However, the person knocking clearly didn’t seem sympathetic to their mood, as the cabin door soon opened, and the lizard officer walked in, looking at everyone.

”Alright, everyone, it’s time to disembark.”

”Huh? So soon?”

Hearing the lizard officer’s words, Katori was greatly surprised. Every time she returned in the past, it felt like it took a long time, so why did it feel like it was over in the blink of an eye today?

Was she dreaming?

Thinking this, Katori rubbed her eyes and then looked out the window, soon seeing the familiar floating island scenery.

”Whoa... I really didn’t expect time to pass so quickly...”

Aetheria couldn’t help but sigh, while next to her, Neflen silently nodded and gave Fang Zheng a thumbs up.

”Very nice.”

”If you’re interested, I can sing for you anytime in the future.”

Fang Zheng also gave Neflen a thumbs up, then casually put the guitar away. Seeing this, the lizard officer’s eyes squinted slightly before quickly turning away.

”Alright, you can leave now. I’ll inform Nigolan about the next mission.”

Hearing the lizard officer’s words, the four of them disembarked from the airship, arriving at an empty dock. It was already late at night, with darkness all around. Only the small beam of light from the lighthouse barely illuminated a corner of this dim floating island.

After dropping them off, the airship rapidly departed. It was only then, looking at Fang Zheng beside her, that Katori lightly coughed.

”Follow me, I’ll introduce you to everyone.”

”Everyone?”

”That’s right, there are more than just the three of us on this island, buddy.”

This time, Aetheria also came over, speaking with a cheerful smile.

”Besides us, there are many kids here, they just haven’t become fairy soldiers yet, so they can’t go to the battlefield. Hehehe, it used to be just Nigolan handling things all by herself, and now there’s finally someone else... Ah, right, you have to be careful. Nigolan is from the cannibal tribe. Her biggest wish is to find a human to eat.”

”Wait a minute, aren’t humans supposed to be extinct in this world?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but retort.

”If humans are extinct, how did the cannibal tribe survive?”

”I really don’t know about that, but Nigolan claims to be from the cannibal tribe, yet we’ve never actually seen her eat anyone... After all, humans are extinct...”

”True enough...”

In this way, Fang Zheng chatted with the three girls while heading into the island’s depths. Soon, after crossing a wooden bridge that was about to rot away, a place appeared before Fang Zheng that looked like... some kind of accommodation facility.

”Here’s your workplace, buddy.”

Aetheria cheerfully reached out, patting Fang Zheng on the shoulder.

”Welcome to the Fairy Warehouse.”
