Chapter 1484: Chapter 1483: You Made Your Choice (A Water Outage Is the Most Annoying Thing)

Standing on the balcony, gazing at the city outside, Raphtalia found herself somewhat lost in thought. She had never imagined she would one day stand here, especially... in the aftermath of the king’s assassination.

It’s been three days since that battle ended.

After Fang Zheng personally killed Megmarlo XXXII, the other nobles and ministers immediately chose to submit. After all, Fang Zheng had clearly demonstrated with actions that whether king or nobility, anyone daring to stand in his way would be mercilessly slain. The army loyal to the king and the Three Heroes Sect had been completely annihilated in the previous battle, leaving nothing behind. Naturally, the remaining people quickly began sucking up to the winner.

Fang Zheng never planned to usurp the throne; as the master of the Heavenly Dao Palace, ruling countless planets, Megmarlo seemed insignificant to him, like a mere speck. Some might see the king’s position as important, but to Fang Zheng, it’s not much better than being a network administrator.

At least a network administrator can play games anytime without spending money.

So Fang Zheng did nothing beyond ordering everything to remain as usual, simply waiting for the queen to return while presiding over the royal palace. He knew if he left now, the royal palace would soon descend into chaos, so he might as well wait for the queen to come back and pass the mess onto her before leaving.

”Tsk tsk tsk, that’s classic boss style, taking down a king as soon as he steps up.”

A teasing voice rang out nearby, causing Raphtalia to twitch her ears and turn around to see a red-haired girl with a single ponytail resting her hands on the Holy Gun, pondering as she walked, accompanied by a petite girl in a black coat with long black hair.

”I knew there’d be nothing good in store when Fang Zheng called me here...”

”Isn’t saving the world also a mission for you Fire Mist Warriors?”

”I know, but he just went for the king right away...”

”Well, the king asked for trouble; he deserved it...”

The red-haired girl continued, looking forward. When she saw Raphtalia, she waved cheerfully.

”Yo, isn’t it the little raccoon?”

”Hello, Miss Shana, Miss Anzu.”

Upon hearing the greeting from the red-haired girl, Raphtalia quickly turned and replied.

Indeed, these two were Shana and Sakurazawa Kyoko—the Sword Hero and Hero of the Spear—summoned again by Fang Zheng after he personally executed those ”imitation” heroes.

Fang Zheng really didn’t have much choice.

There were very few sword users around him, and even fewer gun users. So after much consideration, Fang Zheng decided to call Shana and Sakurazawa Kyoko; the former being one of his rare sword users, the latter already a lancer, so there was no concern of failing a career change.

Knowing they’d been summoned to save a world, Shana and Anzu didn’t refuse, though Shana couldn’t help but complain while Anzu remained calm—after all, in her world, Fang Zheng had burned down an advanced civilization; to Anzu, the king of such a small medieval country was nothing much.

Actually, if possible, Fang Zheng wanted to give the Holy Sword to Raphtalia. Unfortunately, the Four Sacred Heroes being Otherworlders was a core setting, unable to be altered, so Fang Zheng couldn’t make Raphtalia one of the Four Sacred Heroes.

”Want some?”

Walking up to Raphtalia, Anzu cheerfully offered her a chocolate stick, and Raphtalia hesitated before accepting it. Though Anzu had only been here for two days, Raphtalia knew that she carried snacks everywhere, even while leveling up or fighting monsters, with a chocolate stick always in her mouth. These treats from another world were undeniably delicious.

Liphana and Filo loved these snacks, and Raphtalia was no exception.

”Ahh...”

Seeing Raphtalia take the chocolate stick, Anzu grew more cheerful. She stretched lazily on the balcony, facing the sunset.

”I never thought there’d be this kind of world; it sounded so fake when Sister Asuna mentioned it... but it’s pretty fun, like playing a game!”

”We’re not here to play games.”

Shana snorted softly, while Anzu chuckled and slung her arm around Shana’s shoulder.

”Hehehe, who said before they’d leave after reaching level 20? What happened?”

”I, I just wanted to increase my strength!”

Hearing this, Shana’s face flushed red.

”This world is different from mine; I need to improve my skills and abilities to ensure I can face the next wave...”

”So you’re just gaming all night? If I didn’t drag you, you’d probably pull an all-nighter... according to the boss, you’ve got a problem that needs solving...”

”So noisy, so noisy, so noisy!!”

As the two bickered, Liphana suddenly jumped down from the eaves.

”Raphtalia, Sister Anzu, Sister Shana, Master is calling you.”

”Yo, isn’t it little kitty? What’s going on?”

Seeing Liphana, Anzu greeted her with a smile, and Liphana nodded lightly.

”The queen has returned.”

”Oh?”

Upon hearing this, Anzu’s eyes lit up, and she immediately grabbed Shana’s hand.

”Let’s go, let’s go, let’s watch the show; this time our boss might get into a fight again with the other side, so we can lend a hand!”

”Can’t you think of something positive?”

Shana sighed in resignation and was dragged away by Anzu, while Raphtalia and Liphana hurried behind them, heading towards the guest room.

Fang Zheng did not meet the other party in the throne room because he killed the King due to obstruction, not with the intention of becoming king himself, so there was no need to act like a usurper.

”Greetings, Hero of the Shield.”

Upon entering the guest room, the Queen had a serious, cold, and somewhat somber expression. This was understandable, considering that the foolish King Fang Zheng killed was her husband... hmm?

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng squinted his eyes, carefully scrutinizing the Queen before him. She appeared to be in her thirties or forties, whereas that foolish old King already seemed to be in his sixties or seventies with graying hair.

Is there some intrigue between this May-December marriage?

But this notion merely brushed Fang Zheng’s mind; after all, their private life had nothing to do with him, right?

”Hello, Your Majesty the Queen.”

Fang Zheng raised his hand in greeting while seated on the sofa.

”I finally get to meet you.”

”I’ve always wanted to meet you, but I didn’t expect we’d meet under these circumstances.”

Looking at Fang Zheng, Queen Mirellia also showed a complex expression. Ever since she received the report, she knew things weren’t looking good. Yet, she hadn’t anticipated events would spiral to this extent.

The Hero of the Shield not only killed Megmarlo XXXII but also the Pope of the Three Heroes Sect, astonishing all surrounding nations. They were shocked by the Hero of the Shield’s decisiveness, killing without leaving the other party any chance, and were equally amazed by his strength, as he single-handedly faced the Kingdom Knight Order and thousands of believers from the Three Heroes Sect, annihilating them in less than ten minutes.

The power of the Four Sacred Heroes becomes evident.

But for Queen Mirellia, it was quite painful.

No matter what, Megmarlo XXXII was her husband, and Fang Zheng killed him without hesitation; naturally, Queen Mirellia was not happy about this.

Yet... what could she do?

”I genuinely don’t understand why you had to do such a thing.”

Queen Mirellia finally voiced her complaint.

”I admit, Megmarlo XXXII did some foolish things, but there should have been room for negotiation between us...”

”Saying these things now is meaningless, Your Majesty.”

Fang Zheng waved his hand, interrupting Queen Mirellia, staring at her coldly.

”This issue had been brewing for more than just a day or two. If you wanted to change the situation, you should have intervened and solved the problem earlier. But you didn’t, so there’s nothing wrong with me using my method to settle it.”

”I was abroad for important affairs at the time...”

”That was your choice.”

Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders.

”Choose and bear the consequences. Since you chose to watch rather than intervene directly, this is the outcome you must face now.”

”.........”

Hearing this, Queen Mirellia lowered her head helplessly with a sigh.

Just as Fang Zheng said, she could have intervened earlier, even forcibly taking control of the King and negotiating with Fang Zheng. But she never did so, and now, with the situation settled, she wants to change everything yet finds herself powerless.

”Since you’ve returned, I should be leaving too.”

Watching the Queen lower her head in silence, Fang Zheng stood up and spoke. Hearing him, Queen Mirellia looked at him in surprise.

”Leave? Hero, where do you plan to go?”

”To continue my mission. I came to this world to protect it and resist the waves, and from what I’ve seen since being summoned until now, frankly, I find the upper nobility of this world not worth my concern. Plainly speaking, whether you all perish is irrelevant to me; I might even set a fire and fan the flames. However, the ordinary people of this world are indeed worth my protection. Therefore, I will proceed to investigate and research the waves to see if there’s any way to completely eliminate them.”

With that, Fang Zheng paused for a moment.

”The only reason I stayed here was to wait for you, and since you’ve returned, it’s up to you to handle this mess. You can do whatever you wish, even seek revenge for that foolish King, but let me say upfront... now that you’ve chosen, you must bear the consequences.”

After these words, Fang Zheng turned and left without looking back.

Behind him, Queen Mirellia sat silently.
