Chapter 1476: Chapter 1475: Chronicle of the Hero of the Spear’s Downfall I

The Hero of the Spear walked down the street, his face grim.

Everything had changed.

In just one day, everything had changed.

In the past, everyone who saw me would respectfully call me Hero of the Spear, and those girls would come up to fawn over me. But now, everyone here seems to avoid me like I’m the plague!

What a joke! Didn’t you call me Hero of the Spear before? Why are you looking at me like this now? It’s not like I didn’t withstand the tide. We even killed the boss in the tide. Why do you think we are the fakes, and that jerk from nowhere is the real deal?!

Thinking about this, the Hero of the Spear angrily reached out his hand and pushed open the big door.

”Bang!”

The originally bustling Adventurers’ Guild suddenly fell into a deathly silence at that moment, with everyone not saying a word or even glancing at him. Every time the Hero of the Spear looked at someone, they would immediately turn their head as if they didn’t see him.

These bastards! Why do they believe that guy’s nonsense?!

”Master Genkan, please don’t get angry.”

At this moment, Main, who was following by the Hero of the Spear’s side, hurried over, reached out, and hugged his arm, speaking softly in his ear.

”Didn’t we come here to show the people your power as a hero? Once they see your strength, those foolish citizens will immediately understand who the real hero is.”

”You’re right, Main...”

Upon hearing Main’s words, the Hero of the Spear’s anger vanished, and he strode to the counter, unhappily slapping the table.

”Give me all your quests here!”

”O-okay.”

The old man behind the counter wiped cold sweat from his forehead and hurriedly brought out a pile of quests.

”Master Hero, what kind of quest do you want?”

”How about this one?”

Main picked and quickly took out a quest.

”This place is suffering from drought, lacking food, and requires the hero’s help... Master Genkan, we should choose this quest.”

”Alright, I’ll listen to your choice, Main.”

Hearing this, the Hero of the Spear also replied with a cheerful grin, then left the Adventurers’ Guild with his companions.

As the big door closed, the Hero of the Spear clearly heard a noise from inside, mixed with disdain and anger.

”Tch, just a phony, putting on airs!”

”Stop talking, what if the other side hears...”

”Those bastards...!”

Upon hearing this, Genkan immediately clenched his long spear, ready to charge back into the Adventurers’ Guild. But Main, quick-eyed and deft-handed, grabbed him immediately.

”Master Genkan, now is not the time for a fight here! Once you complete the quest and return victorious, these people will recognize your strength as a hero. At that time, these wretches will obediently apologize to you! Having a conflict now will only further damage your reputation! You are a hero, why bother with such a group of country bumpkins?”

”You have a point...”

Upon hearing Main’s words, the Hero of the Spear’s anger gradually calmed. Then, he looked toward Main again.

”Main, you believe in me, don’t you?”

”Of course, Master Genkan, we all believe that you are the true hero.”

As she spoke, Main clenched her fists tightly, watching him.

”Everyone thinks so, right.”

”Yes, yes.”

”I think so too!”

Upon hearing Main’s inquiry, the other two women in Genkan’s team hurriedly nodded. Upon hearing this, Genkan also burst into laughter.

”That’s right, I’m the true hero, and I’m very familiar with this game’s quest. Follow me, and I’ll show you the true hero’s power!”

As he spoke, the Hero of the Spear was about to turn around and leave, but at that moment, his eyes suddenly caught sight of something, and the Hero of the Spear stopped immediately.

”Wait here for me.”

Leaving these words behind, Genkan hurriedly ran to the jewelry shop nearby, exchanged a few words with the troubled-looking owner, and then returned.

”Come, Main, this is for you.”

”This...?”

Looking at the Emerald Ring in the Hero of the Spear’s hand, Main showed a puzzled expression.

”Yes, I just saw this ring and thought it suited you, so I bought it. How is it? Do you like it?”

”Of course, Master Genkan!”

As she spoke, Main showed a delighted smile, then placed the Emerald Ring on her finger.

”I will cherish it!”

”Then, let’s go!”

With spirits high, the party of the Hero of the Spear set out and arrived at the small town issuing the quest. There, they met the local ruler and learned about the situation. Due to years of drought, it had become impossible to grow crops here. However, not far from the town, within some ruins, lay a magical seed created by an ancient alchemist that could solve the local food issue.

But that ruin is now occupied by creatures, and ordinary people cannot go there, so they hope the hero can help retrieve the sealed seed.

To this, the Hero of the Spear of course immediately agreed.

”Leave it to me, no problem at all!”

The Hero of the Spear naturally had enough confidence. In his world, there was a large online game with the same background as this world, and he had long completed that quest there, naturally knowing the situation here. For him, it was just replaying the mission, and he was full of confidence.

It was merely repeating a game task in reality, nothing worth worrying about.

So, the Hero of the Spear took his three companions into the ruins together.

The ruins were pitch black, just as the residents described, and soon after entering, the group was attacked by demon creatures.

”Meteor Spear!!”

The Hero of the Spear naturally dealt with these demon creatures with ease. Seeing this, his companions beside him happily praised him.

”Not disappointing, Master Genkan!”

”Indeed, Master Genkan is the strongest!”

”Hahaha, I told you, leave it to me, there’s absolutely no problem.”

Upon hearing the compliments from his companions, the Hero of the Spear burst into happy laughter. Previously, he just hadn’t been serious enough. Yes, he simply wasn’t serious. Once he started to take things seriously, he would make that shield-wielding bastard witness his true strength!

Hehehe...

The Hero of the Spear began to fantasize about the next time that shield-wielding bastard saw his significantly improved power, what kind of expression he would have.

Walking at the end of the group, Main watched the Hero of the Spear who was conversing with other companions ahead, revealing a strange smile.

She certainly didn’t think he would lose, but his previous actions were somewhat reckless. If she had known the true strength of the Hero of the Shield at the beginning, perhaps she would have chosen a different method. But now, it’s too late. He and she were obviously no longer on the same page, but it didn’t matter.

The Hero of the Spear before her was also one of the Four Sacred Heroes. As long as he got serious, he would surely gain strength far surpassing the Hero of the Shield. By that time... she wouldn’t have to worry about anything.

Thinking of this, Main raised her finger and carefully examined the Emerald Ring on it.

However, at this moment, a light flashed across the Emerald Ring, and in the next moment, it slipped from Main’s finger, rolling towards the other end of the passage.

”Eh?”

Faced with this sudden scene, Main was taken aback. She lowered her head hastily to look for the ring but was unable to find it. When she lifted her head again, she found the Hero of the Spear already far ahead with his two other companions.

”........”

Main hesitated for a moment but decided to find the ring first. She knew the Hero of the Spear quite well, if she lost the ring he gave her here, it would inevitably plant discord in his heart. This was a very bad thing, as currently, only the Hero of the Spear could protect her.

As long as she went to find the ring, if she managed to find it in the end, telling the Hero of the Spear ”I went to find the ring Genkan gave me” would surely touch the man speechless.

Conversely, even if she couldn’t find it, saying ”I have been diligently searching for the ring Genkan gave me” would prompt a reply of ”The ring is not as important as you” from the Hero of the Spear, given his personality.

In any case, these were positive points.

Moreover, she was at least an Intermediate Mage, and in such a ruin, there wouldn’t be any issues.

Thinking of this, Main hurriedly raised the torch and followed the passage towards the other side.

Where did it run off to?

She originally thought the ring had fallen nearby, but after searching for a long time, she still couldn’t find it. Just as Main was about to give up, she saw a small light shining in front.

So it was here.

Seeing the Emerald Ring quietly lying on the ground, Main breathed a sigh of relief, then reached out to pick it up.

Just then.

”Crack!”

Suddenly, the ground collapsed.

”Ah----!”

Main didn’t react at all and fell heavily into the cave below.

”Boom!!”

The cave was about five meters deep, and Main screamed in agony as she felt the pain from the fall all over her body. Only then did she notice her right hand was broken, emitting intense pain.

”Ugh... truly unlucky...”

While muttering, Main fumbled through her belongings, trying to find a Healing Elixir or something similar to treat her wound. Being the First Princess, it wasn’t unusual for her to carry such items.

However...

”Ji ji...”

The strange sounds from the darkness made Main stop moving. She widened her eyes, looking around. Then, Main saw slender figures emerge from the darkness. They were about the height of a child, with ugly features and frail bodies, holding broken weapons and sticks.

So, it’s goblins.

Looking at the creatures ahead, Main relaxed a bit. Goblins were merely weak demon creatures; she had seen the Knights’ Order round them up several times in the past. Whenever they saw the Knights’ Order, these creatures would immediately screech and flee. In Main’s view, goblins were weak and cowardly creatures, not threatening at all.

”Get away! Hurry up and get away from me!”

While desperately trying to pick up a potion, Main shouted angrily. However, these goblins just retreated a few steps without any intention of leaving.

”These creatures... ”

Main reached out, pulling out the Healing Potion from her belongings. But just as she was about to drink it, suddenly, a stone flew out from the darkness, hitting her on the head. The Healing Potion in Main’s hand scattered to the ground, and she couldn’t drink it anymore.

”You damn bastards!!”

Clutching her injured forehead, Main angrily raised her left hand.

”Intermediate Rocket!!”

With Main’s angry roar, flaming rockets appeared instantly, whizzing forward to hit three or four goblins, burning them into ashes.

This is the price for daring to deal with me, you damned goblins!

”Ji ji! Ji ji!!”

However, to Main’s surprise, these goblins didn’t flee upon seeing her magic. Instead, they screamed and threw stones at her one after another.

”Ji ji!! Ji ji!!”

”What do you want to do? Stop! I am the Princess of Megmarlo!”

Main desperately tried to fend off, but her right hand was broken, and relying entirely on her left hand made it difficult to cast a proper spell. Meanwhile, the stones raining on her made her scream in pain. Stone after stone hit Main’s face, forehead, and body, causing her to cry out in agony.

”Intermediate Rocket!”

Finally, in anger, Main cast Flame Magic once more, but this time the flaming arrow shot out disappeared into the darkness without hitting any target.

At the same moment, a fist-sized stone struck the back of Main’s head, instantly knocking her out.

When Main woke up again, those foul-smelling goblins had already surrounded her completely.

”What do you want? I am Megmarlo’s... ahhhhhhh!!!”

However, before Main finished speaking, the goblins around her raised their sticks and mercilessly struck down.

”Bang bang! Bang bang!”

The sticks hit her hands, legs, and arms, causing Main to scream uncontrollably.

”It hurts! It hurts!!!”
