Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

”Captain Dongfeng, have you made up your mind? Our food supply is running low. Once the flood recedes, we must evacuate from here,” Uncle Wan said to Dongfeng, with a sincere persuasion.

Dongfeng frowned, as if he made a tough decision, then said:

”Alright, once the flood recedes, we’ll head south to the legendary Big Camphor Tree Base. However, once we’re nearby, let’s observe for a while. We shouldn’t rush in recklessly; remember what happened to Old Dong when he ran into Orange Continent—if luck hadn’t been on his side, he wouldn’t have made it out alive.”

Uncle Wan looked deeply at the white smoke in the distance, nodding, ”Okay, we’ll follow your lead.”

......

Twilight settles over Big Camphor Tree Base.

Li Yu gave everyone a day off to rest well.

Additionally,

after every disaster, including this flood, Li Yu would evaluate the damage to the base.

This time was no exception.

He had Dapao, An Ya, Second Uncle, and others inspect the various parts of the base to assess the damage caused by the heavy rain.

After half a day’s inspection,

Li Yu held a small meeting in the main gate’s duty room.

”Second Uncle, you go first,” Li Yu said, looking at Second Uncle seated on his right.

Without opening his notebook, Second Uncle directly said, ”I mainly checked the external condition of the walls. They haven’t suffered significant impact, but the roof in duty room number three is leaking and needs repair.”

”Alright, An Ya, it’s your turn,” Li Yu turned his head toward An Ya.

An Ya moved slightly forward on her chair and began, ”In the greenhouse, two areas are leaking and need repair. Additionally, in the base’s mountain forest, a lot of soil was washed away, depleting nutrients, which will greatly affect future vegetation.

........

There’s a good side, though. A lot of silt was washed out, both in and outside the base. We can excavate some to fill the greenhouse or various planting areas in the base.

This silt contains many nutrients, including organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which are very beneficial for plant growth......”

Li Yu listened attentively to An Ya and after consideration said, ”I’ll ask Ding Jiu and the others to go repair the greenhouse. Now that the rain is over, we can directly start planting the next season’s crops.

And regarding the silt, I’ll arrange manpower over the next couple of days to clean and collect it. You can coordinate in placing it where you think appropriate.”

An Ya nodded slightly, ”Alright.”

”Next, Dapao, your turn.”

”Okay, I’ll discuss the impact of the heavy rain on the base’s factory buildings...”

.......

The meeting lasted about an hour, mainly discussing the damage within the base and arranging repair personnel.

After the meeting,

Li Yu walked along the wall, looking at the newly added water storage ponds within the base’s inner city.

After prolonged rain, droughts can easily follow.

Thus, after the heavy rain, Li Yu implemented several measures.

Back when Xu Zhen was working to make the base’s drainage more smooth, he dug deeper around the drainage outlets, creating five or six new drainage platforms.

These platforms accumulated a lot of rainwater.

So, this afternoon, Li Yu had Xu Zhen redirect the drainage channel.

On the original basis, they simply transformed these rain-accumulated platforms into several small water storage ponds.

Additionally, over by the Mountain Pond, right after the rain ended, they closed the flood discharge channels.

Walking on the wall, Li Yu watched the sunset.

The sunset after the rain was particularly beautiful.

There were still some water stains on the wall. Under the sunset glow, the wall appeared as though it was stacked with gold, majestic, solemn, and luxurious.

The water on the wall gradually dried under the sun’s heat.

As Li Yu walked along, he contemplated the base’s upcoming plans and arrangements:

With the rain lasting so long, the Outer City’s cooperative personnel and extra staff already used up their stored food.

The Big Camphor Tree Base couldn’t just stand by and watch them starve, so they offered some food in advance. After the rain ended, they were to go out and gather usable resources to trade for the food.

This practice garnered gratitude and a sense of recognition from the cooperative personnel, who eagerly offered to carry out tasks as soon as the flood subsided.

However, Li Yu knew that such a large flood covered an extensive area, and many electronic devices that were soaked wouldn’t be usable anymore.

To find usable resources, they would need to travel further.

Nonetheless, the end of this rainstorm disaster allowed them to catch their breath temporarily.

Next is the time to recuperate and start a development mode.

During the rain, someone suggested to Li Yu that since they’ve already given food to the cooperative personnel, they might as well recruit them as extra staff.

But Li Yu declined, with the primary concern being the food supply.

Suddenly having a team of over a thousand people would mean over a thousand mouths to feed.
