Chapter 1021: Chapter 682: 54 Hours of Torrential Rain, Water Levels Rising!

February 22nd.

The heavy rain has been pouring continuously for 54 hours.

The sky remains as dark as ever, accompanied by flashes of lightning and thunder, plunging the entire world into the most terrifying moment.

.......

A coastal city with relatively low altitude.

The darkness shrouded the entire city, with thick clouds hanging low in the sky like a giant canopy. Lightning tore through the night, their glow like fleeting dawn, revealing the horrifying scenes unfolding in this world.

The rain poured down relentlessly, seemingly endless in its deluge.

Water crashed down violently from the sky, merging into gigantic torrents that swallowed everything in their path. The streets were submerged by the raging winds and torrential rain, forming a vast expanse like a lake.

In this world-level cataclysmic storm, zombies floated in droves amidst the floodwaters.

Their twisted faces were washed pale by the rain, weak and horrifying. They flailed their tattered limbs incessantly, attempting to swim toward the human refuge points drawing ever nearer.

The remaining survivors gathered on the heights of the city, seeking safe havens.

They curled up on rooftops, bridges, and the tops of tall buildings, maximizing their protection from the threat of the flood. Fear flickered in their eyes, and helplessness mingled with despair in their hearts.

The roar of the storm entwined with the thunder, forming a dreadful symphony.

The survivors’ hearts raced, and every clap of thunder made their bodies shudder. They clung tightly to anything they could grasp, seeking a shred of stability and security.

The floodwaters continued to rise, their power irresistible. Some people were swept away by the massive currents, disappearing into the darkness.

No matter how they struggled, they couldn’t withstand the onslaught of the flood. Fear and despair seeped into every corner, as they hoped this nightmare would soon end.

.......

In some island country in the East.

Overlooking the entire island, it seemed that in such circumstances, there were no traces of survivors left.

The enormous downpour continued pouring down without cease, the seawater intertwining with the rainwater to form a raging torrent. The waves roared and surged, like an enraged behemoth assaulting the coastal city.

The city streets were completely submerged, with buildings sunk into the surging water, leaving only rooftops exposed. Streetlights and signs no longer flickered or guided. The entire city was engulfed in darkness, only the occasional flash of lightning providing brief illumination.

Huge waves slammed against the city’s walls and buildings, emitting deafening booms. The sea’s power destroyed many structures, with buildings collapsing one by one, becoming part of the ocean.

The ocean’s power spread continuously, devouring every corner of the city. Vehicles, utility poles, and trees were washed away, becoming insignificant debris in the boundless floods. The city’s silhouette gradually blurred, replaced by an expanse of water.

.......

This super storm had arrived fiercely and persisted for a long time.

In some cities with relatively low, even negative altitude, only a few tall buildings remained standing, as all other structures were submerged by the floodwaters.

Vast and boundless.

......

The Southern.

Xin City.

Big Camphor Tree Base.

Li Yu was at the wall from the 18th and stayed until the 22nd.

He practically ate and slept in the duty room, taking a lap around the wall every so often, and then checking the drainage situation at the base.

The continuous heavy rain left people at the base a bit worried, even though they had faced heavy storms before, none were as fierce as this one.

Xu Zhen was on standby 24 hours, while others guarded at each key drainage point. If they noticed mud and debris blocking the drains, they would clean it immediately in front of the iron bars to prevent the mud from entering the sewers.

Seeing Li Yu taking this storm so seriously, everyone else at the base kept their guard up, leaving no room for error.

Duty room.

Li Yu’s eyes were bloodshot; he had been on duty these days, with Second Uncle, Yang Tianlong, Third Uncle, Uncle, and Dapao all taking turns, but Li Yu remained there.

When tired, he would lie on the makeshift bed to rest. Meals were sent over by people from the Inner City.

Li Yu took off his still-dripping raincoat; his clothes were also damp. He looked at the monitors; outside the base, there was already a pile reaching four to five meters high.

Further away, the zombies continued to spread, with no end in sight.

Third Uncle watched Li Yu for a moment, then came over and said seriously, ”Xiao Yu, I can handle things here at the wall, you should go back and rest.”

Li Yu listened to the sound of operating mobile switch blades coming from outside the duty room.

Just as he was about to shake his head in refusal, Dapao’s voice came to his ears, ”Yeah, Brother Yu, we’ve already changed twice, and you haven’t gone back to rest even once. Go back and take a break, we’ve got everything under control here. If anything happens, I’ll notify you immediately.”

Upon hearing this, Li Yu lifted his head and saw others like Song Min and Wang Cheng looking at him, clearly hoping he would go rest a bit.

It had been three or four days, and Li Yu hadn’t returned to the residential area to rest.

He felt indeed somewhat exhausted, and more importantly, he nodded slightly and said, ”Alright, I’ll leave this to you. Notify me immediately if there’s any situation.”

He then stood up, picked up his raincoat and put it on, slowly pushed the door open to walk out of the duty room, but seemed to remember something.
