Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Whether it was Dongfeng and his group on Lu Mountain or the father and son Xu Chengcai halfway up Sanqing Mountain, they found their own peace in the flood.

However, they were extremely lucky too.

Dongfeng and the others had planted crops months ago with over a thousand people. Even though these crops were greatly affected after the volcanic eruption, they could still dig out some remnants of food from the withered fields.

As the population decreased, their food pressure significantly dropped.

Meanwhile, Xu Chengcai and his son survived on the mountainside due to Xu Chengcai’s strength and their good fortune, enabling them to enjoy a rare peace amidst the Doomsday.

Most of the other survivors either starved to death or got lucky by storing enough food before the flood.

Some resorted to raising other humans as food, as if nurturing poisonous insects.

Such practices were not uncommon in this Doomsday.

More than two years into the apocalypse, a variety of foods were either consumed by humans or hoarded, while others rotted and were buried by successive natural disasters....

.......

The rain had lasted a long time.

March 10th.

In Yangzhou in March, when flowers bloom.

But in March now, Yangzhou was all water.

The rain had continued for twenty days.

The Big Camphor Tree Base naturally had a higher ground near the main gate, with lower elevation towards the cliffs.

So they placed the drainage outlet in the direction of the cliffs.

There was a height difference on both sides.

In the downpour, rainwater was also directed towards the cliffs, and the base’s drainage followed suit.

Initially, to prevent zombies from entering the base through the drainage outlet, it wasn’t placed on the ground but was dug deep and buried underground.

This resulted in a massive difference between the base and the floodwater level, yet at the cliff, the drainage outlet was less than twenty meters away from the floodwater line below.

This twenty meters, based on recent observations and calculations, averaged a water level rise of half a meter per day.

In other words, if the rain continued, the base’s drainage would start experiencing problems in two months.

If the rain persisted and the water level continued to rise at the previous pace, in two to three months, the flood would flood the Big Camphor Tree Base from the outside of the walls.

Of course, this was the worst-case scenario.

In fact, the water level rise had already slowed down recently.

But if the rain continued like this, the Big Camphor Tree Base would flood in six months.

However, Li Yu knew from previous life experience that the flood wouldn’t last that long.

This downpour, as he remembered, lasted less than a month.

And it had already rained for a full twenty days now.

Under these conditions, the flood wouldn’t submerge the Big Camphor Tree Base.

Later, Li Yu had Dapao take over his shift at the main entrance and took the opportunity to visit the villa to see Li Hang and his wife, along with Li Ke’ai.

Li Ke’ai, as her name suggested, was indeed lovely.

Big eyes, long eyelashes, and an innocent look full of curiosity about the world.

But she had never seen the sun until now.

Li Yu also gifted her something, a gift that could only be opened when she turned ten.

Taking advantage of the time he returned to the villa, Li Yu rested well in his room.

He took a moment to check the secret base in the basement, making sure all the sealed doors were closed properly before returning to the duty room.

Orange Continent.

Top floor of the Puhua Building.

Staring at the flood less than ten meters away, Gan Hu clasped his hands on his head and let out a distressed howl.

”Yao Zuo, if this rain keeps pouring and the water level keeps rising, we’re likely to die here.”

Yao Zuo, no longer as calm and composed as before, watched the water level rise daily, swallowing the dozens of buildings they could see.

Now, only a few buildings remained visible to them.

They were starting to think of a way out.

Yao Zuo sighed and said, ”If only we had taken the building next door, it’s over a hundred floors and we wouldn’t be worried now, but there’s no way for us to get there now.”

Gan Hu furrowed his brow and said, ”Yao Zuo, what if we take a chance? Some of the furniture here is made of wood; we could piece together a boat and row over. What do you think?”

Yao Zuo pointed at the dense crowd of zombies below and said helplessly, ”I’m afraid these zombies won’t let us through. Once we hit the water, we’re doomed. Besides, the furniture can’t be pieced into a decent boat, it can only just keep us afloat.”

”What should we do then?” Gan Hu asked desperately, looking at the torrential rain and the ever-rising water line.

With just ten days, as he expected, this building would be flooded.

The flood wasn’t that scary, nor were the zombies; they could find solutions for both.

But the flood plus the zombies made being on the water a death trap.

Once they stepped into the water, they were as good as dead.

Yao Zuo was also at a loss; he’d been racking his brain for days but still hadn’t come up with a good plan.

Suddenly, he looked at the building across and its glass windows and had an idea.
