Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 1018: Chapter 680: Natural Disaster-Class Super Torrential Rain (Part 3)

The entire small cabin, in this dark storm, provided them with an exceptionally rare refuge.

This little grocery store itself had a foundation raised nearly one meter, with four or five steps below.

Although they were halfway up the mountain, at least they were at a location with an altitude of 800 meters, protruding from the mountainside.

The platform in front was a full meter and a half lower than the little house they were in.

The rainwater flowing down from the mountain was mostly absorbed by the soil and vegetation, with most of it flowing down to the lower areas.

They could hear the water flowing down from the mountain in the small house, but due to the high foundation, it couldn’t flood the small house.

The burning flames made Xiao Yong come out of the warehouse inside the small door.

”Your clothes are wet too, take them off and dry them,” Xu Chengcai saw that Xiao Yong’s clothes were a bit wet and said.

Then he rummaged through his backpack and found two blankets, giving one to Xiao Yong and covering himself with the other.

He tidied up the small grocery store, uprighted the hollow shelf that had fallen on the ground, and pushed some garbage into a corner, which could be used for burning...

After doing all this, the small grocery store became much cleaner and tidier under the firelight.

Next to the bonfire, he arranged a rack to dry their wet clothes, socks, and shoes.

Their mats and sleeping bags were placed on the floor; the two sat on the sleeping bags, left and right, wrapped in blankets, warming themselves.

Close to the edge of the wooden door, some rainwater was blown in by the wind.

But the bonfire was far enough from there not to be affected.

Xu Chengcai ripped open the cigarette box and greedily took out one.

He lit it in the fire.

However, the first puff made him cough incessantly.

Listening to the sound of the rain outside, the crackling, the smoke slowly drifted to the top, then escaped through the five-centimeter gaps in all directions.

The temperature in the room slowly rose.

Xiao Yong nodded off and started dozing.

Although the wind and rain outside were intense, Xu Chengcai felt that the moment was incredibly beautiful.

......

Big Camphor Tree Base.

A super heavy rain of natural disaster level.

The skies were pouring.

Being in a relatively high position, Li Yu was on the wall, quietly watching the lightning and thunder outside.

Not far away, several hills were clearly visible in the lightning.

From five thirty this morning, it has been raining continuously for six and a half hours.

It was now noon.

He gazed into the distance.

Like the roar of a god, the entire sky was shrouded in dark clouds. The clouds rolled, lightning flashed, and rain poured mercilessly down like a thousand cavalry charging through.

In the deep forest far from Big Camphor Tree Base, a stream quickly swelled, the waters raging, as if an angered beast. Rocks splashed from the foot of the mountain, mixed with branches and sand, forming a huge flood, resembling a roaring dragon.

The rain relentlessly battered the sparse tree branches, making sounds like drumbeats. The trees in the forest swayed under the storm’s ravages, seemingly struggling for their lives. The wind howled, making one feel like they were in a natural war.

The flood surged down the slopes at high speed, bringing torrential waves and whistling sounds.

The stream from the melted snow quickly became turbid, rolling with ferocious momentum, swallowing everything around it.

The vegetation on the hillsides was chaotically washed away by the storm, the tree roots exposed, the washed-out soil and rocks swept into the flood. Like a destructive force, where the flood went, there was ruin.

The rainwater converged into rapid rivers, carrying wild power, breaking through all obstacles, rushing down the mountain. The river roared and surged, the noisy water flow striking the banks and splashing water flowers, releasing the wildness and power of nature.

The whole world seemed occupied by the rain, flood, and storm, the strong visual impact and expression of natural power made one feel helpless.

......

In the Big Camphor Tree Base Inner City.

There were many drainage outlets.

Among them, several drainage outlets were located at the foot of the mountain, like huge open mouths, waiting for the rainwater flowing down from the two mountains of the base.

Gradually converging into streams, impacting the edges of the drainage outlets, making deafening roaring sounds.

The water flow was like wild horses, vigorously washing the channels, trying to find an exit. The water surged, gathering into turbulent rapids, sweeping through the drainage outlets with tremendous force.

The grates of the drainage outlets trembled constantly, seemingly at risk of being devoured by the water flow at any moment, but reinforced by Xu Zhen, they were exceptionally sturdy despite shaking.

The streams formed by the rainwater hit the grates, producing sharp friction sounds, but they held their positions, stubbornly resisting the invasion of the water flow.

The entire base’s drainage system was pushed to its maximum, continually collecting rainwater into the low areas, then further into the sewer system.

Then further collected into a sewer mouth that was taller than a person underground.

....

When rainwater rushed into the drainage outlet, the water was forced through the channel toward the cliff, forming an astonishing water column.

The water column broke through the rain curtain, spraying high into the air like a spectacular fountain. The mist enveloped the surroundings, creating a hazy water vapor, adding a mysterious and grand atmosphere to the scene.

The cliff below the drainage outlet received the flood, instantly turning into a waterfall.

The water rolled in the narrow river channel, carrying immense strength, surging downward.

The sound of the water was like the roar of giant waves crashing, echoing through the canyon of the cliff, full of power and awe.

......

Li Yu descended from the wall; the rain had been pouring for six hours.

He hadn’t slept since last night due to some concerns.

Three hours ago, he inspected the drainage outlets and checked if there were any flooding issues within the base.

There were none.

Now, with the rain lasting for so long, he came down from the wall again to inspect.

The rain curtain greatly limited his visibility.

Even with a light, he could only see twenty meters ahead.

In the park, he watched the accumulated water slowly turning and draining into the sewer.

He then went to the warehouse area and saw that there was no accumulated water nearby, all flowing to the adjacent low areas.

Xu Zhen was called by Li Yu to inspect the drainage situation together.

”Can our current drainage system withstand even heavier rain?”

Li Yu shouted at Xu Zhen beside him while looking at the torrential rainwater at the drainage outlet.

Xu Zhen leaned his ear over and then shouted back loudly:

”Yes, no problem. While the rain looks terrifying now, it’s mostly being discharged through the sewer system.

Additionally, Director Li, the flood outlet of the Mountain Pond is opened to its maximum. Although the water in Mountain Pond is being replenished by rainwater, more is being released than coming in, so the overall water level is decreasing.

At the current rate of discharge, it should dry out within a day. Should we reduce the flow a bit?”

Li Yu thought for a moment and said, ”Reduce it by half, keep an eye on it, if the water level in Mountain Pond surpasses the warning line, increase the discharge flow.”

Xu Zhen shouted in the rain, ”Okay.”

Li Yu inspected again, slightly relaxed in his heart.

The rain had just started, so problems with drainage couldn’t be observed immediately.

With the rain now lasting six to seven hours, the water has accumulated thoroughly; if no issues appear now, there likely won’t be any issues later.

Having stayed awake all night, he now relaxed a bit, suddenly feeling somewhat tired.

Right at that moment, his earpiece transmitted Uncle’s voice: ”Xiao Yu, a lot of zombies have appeared outside!”
