Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 1020: Chapter 681: Did the Zombies Jump Up?_2

These zombies, amidst this torrential rain, had their agility boosted to a terrifying degree by the downpour.

”Xiao Yu, you’re here. We just saw a zombie jump! This has never happened before!” Second Uncle seemed to still be immersed in the shock of what he had just witnessed.

They were no longer fledglings in this apocalypse, having faced countless waves of zombies, having killed countless zombies.

They knew that in the rain, the zombies’ mobility, agility, and even strength would be enhanced, calling this heightened state the zombies’ frenzy state.

Even in previous zombie frenzy states, their limbs only became more flexible, not reaching human-level agility.

In most cases, zombies in high heat, under the bright sun, walked as slowly as turtles.

At night, the situation improved slightly, and they could move faster.

The night’s torrential rain reached a qualitative leap.

But now, the zombies below the wall were almost as agile as normal humans, perhaps even more so.

At least, humans definitely didn’t have the endurance that zombies did.

The scene of a zombie jumping just now deeply shocked everyone on the wall.

”How high did it jump?” Li Yu didn’t seem shocked, as he’d anticipated this; such occurrences only happened in exceptionally heavy rain.

”Less than forty centimeters.” Li Tie was the first to spot the jumping zombie, so he remembered clearly.

Li Yu nodded slightly. This height was about the same as a normal human could jump, or even a bit less.

Generally, a normal human can jump 50 to 80 centimeters; reaching 80 centimeters means you’re among the very best.

”But, have no other jumping zombies been spotted yet?” Third Uncle squinted, staring straight at the zombie that had jumped.

Li Yu thought for a moment, then told everyone, ”Don’t worry too much.”

Then he remembered something and said to Li Tie, ”Bring the crossbow and the rope, the lasso over.”

Li Tie, upon hearing this, instantly understood what Li Yu intended to do.

He immediately ran to the duty room, taking out the crossbow along with the arrows, with a rope attached to the arrows.

These arrows weren’t homemade but were original alloy steel arrows.

Li Yu took the crossbow and asked the group, ”Where is that zombie?”

Li Tie focused the spotlight on that zombie, ”There.”

Li Yu aimed at that zombie and pulled the trigger.

Whoosh—

The arrow sliced through the rain, the rope trailing behind, flying towards that zombie’s chest.

It pierced through the zombie’s chest.

Li Yu gave a forceful tug back, the arrowhead snagged on the zombie’s chest bones.

Roar—

This zombie didn’t die, roaring, seemingly enraged by Li Yu’s actions.

A few people, including Dapao, next to Li Yu, also came over to help.

They slowly pulled on the rope, gradually bringing the zombie to the base of the wall.

At this point, Li Yu threw the lasso onto the zombie’s body.

With a pull of the rope, the loop tightened, immediately tying the zombie up.

The zombie was originally at a distance from the wall, making it too difficult to precisely lasso it from that far away.

It was better to drag it over first and then use the lasso to bind it.

If they only used the crossbow to pull it up, the arrowhead stuck in the bone wouldn’t withstand the full weight of the zombie, and it could easily fall from mid-air.

The group slowly pulled the rope tethered to the zombie upward.

A minute later.

The zombie was pulled up onto the wall.

Almost as soon as it was pulled up, a fork was firmly thrust into its chest, pinning it to the ground.

They brought out the iron cage they had prepared and sealed it over it.

Chopped off the zombie’s arms with two cuts, throwing them carelessly over the wall.

The zombie’s arms thrown down caused the zombies below to begin a frenzied scramble.

”Take it back for Ma Di and the others to research. Be careful, weld its mouth shut, then weld an iron cage around it. This thing has quite a lot of strength.” Li Yu said to Li Tie, observing the armless zombie.

”Alright.” Li Tie called Old Lv and a few others, then they bound an iron lock to the zombie’s leg, strictly controlling it.

This was Li Yu’s requirement, better safe than sorry.

Watching as Li Tie and the others escorted the zombie away, everyone suddenly felt like zombies being able to jump wasn’t such a big deal.

The number of zombies outside the wall was increasing.

They quickly surpassed a thousand, and the zombies at the base of the wall began to swarm together.

A few zombies were even at the front gate’s large iron doors, repeatedly ramming their heads into them, making thumping sounds.

He Chao, next to He Bing, was there, and seeing him, Li Yu thought of the base’s extremely critical Zombie Generator.

He then asked, ”What’s the situation with the Zombie Generator over there?”

To understand, during rain, the air also becomes humid, and the water molecules in the air are pervasive.

He Chao also turned his head to look at He Bing, who, seeing everyone watching him, seriously said, ”I just came from there, Li Hang came with me, and the zombies inside are also a bit restless, their mobility has improved too.

But we considered this issue beforehand when creating the Zombie Generator. We opened holes in the zombies’ soles, leg bones, waist, and chest and welded steel plates to them, fixed them with screws, and added weight on the generator to hold them down.

Those zombies can’t perform any other actions; they can only take the action of moving forward with the steel plates, or running.

So, even though the zombies in the Zombie Generator are a bit high-strung, they’re under control, and the power output per hour has increased.”

Li Hang, standing nearby, nodded in agreement, ”Yes, brother, I just checked there, there are no problems, and besides, we closed all the doors and windows. Rainwater from outside won’t get in.”

”Good.” Li Yu nodded slightly, indicating his satisfaction.

As long as the Zombie Generator is alright, that’s good.

They talked for a while on the wall, making some contingency plans.

Then they returned to their posts respectively.

Second Uncle also took Li Haoran and others on patrol atop the wall, checking other sections for zombies.

The contingency plan was the same old method; as soon as zombies exceeded a certain number and started stacking up, they’d open the sluice gate below.

Xin City.

Over ten kilometers from the Big Camphor Tree Base.

In a small valley town not far away.

There was a group of people, these people were the ones who were driven out from the Big Camphor Tree Base for greedily stealing food.

At this moment, they were in deep trouble.

In this valley town shrouded by torrential rain, the water accumulation had reached knee height, trapping them in this town.

Since the heavy rain started at five in the morning, and it came down so fast and fierce, by the time they realized it, it was too late.

.......

The torrential rain poured mercilessly, forming torrents that turned the streets of the town into a disaster zone.

The water rushed fiercely, like a huge angry wave carrying destructive power. The lowest buildings of the town were submerged in murky floodwaters, struggling helplessly.

At this time, the terrifying zombies appeared.

They emerged from the floodwaters, their tattered clothes soaked and clinging to them, skin pale like the dead, with hollow and vicious eyes.

The zombies emitted low and sickening growls, their hideous faces filled with longing and hunger.

They stepped forward with twisted gaits, gradually approaching the house where they were holed up.

The zombies’ bodies were submerged in water, splashing water around, making the terrifying scene more vivid and horrifying.

”Duan Guan, damn it, it’s your fault. If it weren’t for you saying to stay here, I’d have left long ago and wouldn’t be stuck here.” A man with a goatee said angrily.

”The legs are on your body, if you really wanted to leave, could I have stopped you? I didn’t stop you, I didn’t tell you not to leave!” Duan Guan, watching the zombies appearing below, responded unkindly to that person’s accusations.

”You! If you hadn’t proposed this idea, I wouldn’t have stayed! Shit.” The goateed man was drenched by the rain.

”Don’t worry, don’t be too afraid. We’ve encountered heavy rain before; the downstairs is all sealed up, the zombies can’t get up. Wait until the heavy rain ends, the zombies will obediently leave. You’ve been in the apocalypse this long, and you’re still this scared? So timid!” Duan Guan mocked. Although his heart harbored some fear watching the zombies, his face remained calm, revealing no tension.

The goateed man glared at him, complaining, ”This time, something feels not right, there’s never been rain this heavy before......”
