Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 1024: Chapter 683: Flood Engulfs the Dam, Disaster Countdown! (Part 2)

!!!!

Gan Hu, who was eavesdropping with his ears perked up, nearly clapped and cheered when he heard Yao Zuo ask that question.

The reason for interrogating this middle-aged man was to find out who attacked Orange Continent.

He only mentioned heading east just now. East? With so many provinces to the east, who knows where exactly he’s referring to?

It’s fine if he doesn’t recognize them, but we can deduce something from the car plates.

Moreover, according to what this man said, there were quite a few people that came, which means there were a lot of vehicles too.

Gan Hu’s face was filled with excitement as he stared intently at the middle-aged man.

Yao Zuo also watched him quietly.

The middle-aged man seemed to fall into his memories, thinking for quite a while before speaking up, ”I couldn’t see clearly, but I remember a few major car plates. Guangdong A, Jiangxi B, Fujian C, mainly these few plates, because they’re ABC, so they left an impression on me...”

Upon hearing this, Gan Hu instantly became a bit impatient. Damn it, you’re mentioning so many places, where exactly is it!?

Yao Zuo, however, showed no emotional fluctuations at his answer, seemingly having anticipated it. He asked again, ”Which place did you see the most car plates from?”

The middle-aged man, frowning tightly, said, ”They’re all about the same. I didn’t dare get too close, and the distance was quite far. I just glanced with the telescope. Mainly from those three places. Oh, and I saw a car plate with Xiang L.”

Yao Zuo nonchalantly took out a map, then circled the positions the middle-aged man mentioned.

And when he marked out Guangdong A, Jiangxi B, Fujian C, Xiang L, he already had a rough estimation in his heart.

The car plates from these places all surround one center, which is Jiangxi B.

Generally speaking, in the apocalyptic world, activity range trajectories are around nearby areas.

And with abandoned vehicles on the roadside, you can always scavenge freely.

From the car plates mentioned by the middle-aged man, the activity range of that force can be inferred, and based on this, an estimation can be made of where that force is most likely based.

So far, the approximate range has been deduced, narrowed down to the scope of one city.

At least, wandering aimlessly among several provinces in the apocalypse is tantamount to finding a needle in a haystack.

Gan Hu looked at the circles Yao Zuo had drawn, and then at the triangle he drew at the center of those circles.

He was instantly overjoyed, thinking that a person favored by his father truly had a sharp mind.

Detect problems by approaching from the side and picking up on details.

But it’s not over yet. Yao Zuo asked again, ”Second question, how many people came with them?”

........

Outside, the torrential rain poured down, and they, at the top of the tall building, were avoiding the zombies below, who were in a frenzy.

The zombies knew they were there since Gan Hu brought about dozens of people.

A crowd of this size attracts attention easily, especially to zombies enhanced by the rain.

And the original location of Orange Continent was right at the center of Sha City, close to the Xiangjiang River.

Zombies love water and dampness.

This led numerous zombies rushing towards them.

With the torrential rains in recent days, the banks of the Xiangjiang River had been completely submerged.

Even the floors underneath the building they were in were flooded up to two levels.

Zombie stacking needs a condition; the bottom has to be stable.

In the flood, zombies were floating and unable to stack.

This is one of the reasons they have been able to survive until now.

Looking out from the windows, all they could see was land submerged by rainwater, an endless expanse of water.

The terrifying zombies, illuminated sporadically by lightning in the darkness, kept swimming towards them.

As the lights flicker, what they saw made their hearts skip a beat. They dared not stay at the window to watch any longer.

........

Several hundred kilometers away from them.

The fierce storm whipped up waves on the water above the dam, resembling sea waves being lashed against the dam walls by the wind.

Rumble—

A bolt of lightning illuminated the scene around the dam.

The drainage of the dam, somehow opened, spewed a torrent of water like a dragon.

But the rain was far too heavy. Coupled with the melting snow from warm weather upstream, the surge of water put too much pressure on the dam.

The water being drained could not keep up with the water coming in.

The water level of the dam had long surpassed its maximum capacity and continued to rise.

Very soon.

The floodwaters were level with the dam.

The dam could no longer block the flood, and now water surged over the dam, flowing downstream.

Another giant wave, crashing upon the dam, splash—

Engulfing the entire dam, surging high and spilling over.

The nearly two-hundred-meter-high dam, holding hundreds of billions of cubic meters of water, was instantly swallowed by the flood.

The flood rushed over the dam, plummeting a hundred meters to the bottom.

Whoosh—

The raging flood, carrying mud and sand, surged towards the downstream with great momentum.

At this time, some villages and towns downstream of the dam were already completely submerged by the flood, turning into a water world.

The flood poured down with majestic force, towering over two hundred meters, roared downward.

After the dam was submerged, the accumulated water overflowed the dam without anything to restrain it, uninhibited.

Jing City, less than a few dozen kilometers from the dam, was completely flooded within two hours of the dam being submerged.

The torrent flowed rapidly, and at the current speed, it’s estimated to reach Sha City within five hours.

Yet, Gan Hu and others at Orange Continent in Sha City were unaware of it. Gan Hu was absorbed in his hatred, planning to investigate once the rain ceased.

......

Western Alliance.

The torrential rain plunged the entire Western Alliance into a perilous situation.

Due to the hasty construction of the base, the drainage planning was inadequate, leading to severe internal flooding now.

Within the base, the water level reached waist-height already, and in some low-lying areas, it surged to two meters.

Gan Xiong was also overwhelmed, as their stored food warehouse was flooded last night.

Helplessly, Tian Sheng was ordered to move all the food from the warehouse to this building.

In the rain, the food became largely soaked. If there’s no drying sun in the coming days, it could easily mildew and rot.

Meanwhile, the number of zombies outside the walls increased, and because of defending against zombie attacks, no one slept last night.

The rain pounded heavily, severely affecting visibility.

The huge rainstorm drove the zombies into a feverish state, attacking the Western Alliance tirelessly.

”What are yesterday’s losses?” Gan Xiong, soaked all over, sat on the sofa, his previous demeanor entirely gone.

Gan Long, in a hoarse voice, said, ”We lost nearly a hundred people last night.”

In the rain, all communication relied on yelling. Last night, they kept shouting for reinforcements, which ruined their throats.

”Sigh...” Gan Xiong said nothing, heaved a sigh, and fell silent.

”Dad.” Gan Long seemed to have something to say but felt that speaking up would anger his father.

Yet, he still spoke, ”Xiao Hu and others should be at Orange Continent now. I wonder how they are doing.”

Upon hearing this, Gan Xiong indeed became angry, responding, ”I told him not to go, but he wouldn’t listen! Look now, with this heavy rain, I worry that if that dam doesn’t hold, we might be fine since we’re upstream. But they are right downstream, so close. If it collapses or overflows, then they...”

Gan Long hadn’t considered this, and his heart instantly tightened.

Amidst the rainstorm, chaos reigned in the base.

......

Big Camphor Tree Base.

The rain continued unabated.

It had been pouring nonstop for several days. Li Yu stayed on the wall all along until last night when he came back to rest.

Exhausted, Li Yu slept for sixteen hours straight.

When he woke up, it was still dark outside.

Glancing at the time, it was already the evening of the 23rd.

Estimating the speed of the flood, if it was like his previous lifetime, the dam would overflow, and without any barrier, the floodwaters would surge downstream.

Within today or tomorrow, the Big Camphor Tree Base would face a massive flood.

Thinking of this, Li Yu hurriedly got up, but as soon as he stood, dizziness hit him. He was too hungry.

Putting on dry clothes, he rushed downstairs to eat something quickly.

Under the pouring rain, the lake at the base of the cliff saw its water levels constantly rising.

Fortunately, the Big Camphor Tree Base’s location had relatively high altitude, so the water flowed to low areas, and the walled perimeter wasn’t flooded yet.
