Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

The Western Alliance, located upstream of the Long River, was not affected by the flood.

But even so, the torrential rain caused them severe losses.

The rain had been pouring for five days straight. Since the Zhang Family and Zhou Family left, their numbers had reduced to 4,500. Over these five days, because Gan Xiong adopted the human wall strategy, the numbers had now dropped to less than 4,000.

What is the human wall strategy?

It means pushing all available hands in the base against the walls to hold back the zombies.

Additionally, several new people were kept on standby under the wall. If someone on the wall was bitten by a zombie, they would immediately replace them.

Using human lives to buy time.

Most of them were slaves caught previously, followed by outer members of the Gan Family. The core members held guns and supervised from below.

If anyone tried to retreat, they would be executed on the spot.

Under this brutal regime, they barely held off the zombie attacks.

Of course, many lives were lost.

But, Gan Xiong didn’t care about any of it.

The lessons from these natural disasters taught him one thing: too many people are not a good thing.

A strategy of elite troops is the only way to survive in the long run.

When there are too many people, they all need to eat, and without enough food, riots would break out. To maintain the base’s normal operations, they could only give out a little food.

After all, these people had been in the base from the start.

It was hard to drive them away, and the tangled relations were difficult to unravel.

Managing them was very troublesome and consumed a lot of their energy, making them hesitate to take action.

Moreover, mishandling it could easily lead to internal chaos.

This time, a lot of grain was flooded, and a small portion had spoiled. The spoiled grain was mostly given to those in the front line on the walls.

For Gan Xiong, using these people to fight off zombies while reducing their numbers was killing two birds with one stone.

On a small six-story building.

Gan Xiong moved here from his previous small courtyard because of the recent torrential rain. The water in the base had risen to an adult’s waist level.

He looked at the storm outside the window, punctuated by occasional thunder and lightning, muttering to himself: ”The Zhang Family is gone, the Zhou Family is gone. Once this is over and the numbers are reduced further, we can freely do some things.”

Outside the building, Gan Long and Wayne were scattered under the wall, each leading a group to supervise those on top of the wall.

Tian Sheng led a team to clean the drainage pipes inside the base, trying to drain the water, but the rain was too heavy.

The original drainage design didn’t consider such heavy rain, so even after clearing the mud and ensuring the drainage pipes were clear,

the water level in the base, though rising more slowly, was still increasing.

Rao City.

Sanqing Mountain.

A warm cabin, alone in its tranquility.

Sanqing Mountain had always been extremely steep and perilous.

Even before Doomsday, getting up the mountain in some dangerous places required both hands and feet to climb up.

And now, in the torrential rain.

The path up the mountain became even more treacherous.

The rain washed down the mud and rocks from the mountain layers.

Inadvertently, it made it more difficult for zombies to climb upwards.

So far, not a single zombie had managed to get close.

Xu Chengcai, over these few days, braving the rain, cut some trees and stuck them in the pathway below the platform to form a blockade to prevent zombies from climbing up as much as possible.

Beyond this passage, there was only a small cliff about ten meters high, where the number of zombies couldn’t easily pile up.

Moreover, he set up a rope that circled the cabin, tightened and inserted into the roller, with a mechanism set to drop an iron can inside the cabin if the rope was pushed by gravity to a certain extent.

In the storm, the ropes might be tugged by the wind, touching the mechanism. After some adjustments by Xu Chengcai, he simulated a zombie hitting and pulling the rope. Once it was pulled two meters forward, it triggered the alert device.

The heavy rain and wind might sway the rope, but they couldn’t pull it beyond two meters.

However, some rotten wood blown down from the mountain triggered the device twice over the past few days.

Still, in this perilous mountain installation, the wooden fence surrounding the platform and the rope provided double security, giving Xu Chengcai a sense of reassurance.

Lightning and thunder.

Xu Chengcai took a huge piece of rotten wood that had been blown down previously, carved it with a knife to make a few stools.

In this thirteen square meter cabin, aside from food, some storage items, their bedding, and backpacks, the most abundant thing was firewood.

The room which was initially messy and filthy was now tidy.

Not exactly clean, but much more orderly than when they first discovered it.

Xu Chengcai sat in the cabin, carving with a dagger the rotten tree root that had rolled down a few days ago.

On the other side, Xiao Yong picked up a pocket-sized Xinhua Dictionary, put it down in less than five seconds, and began to watch the wooden carving in his father’s hands.

Xu Chengcai had excellent knife skills, meticulous attention to detail, to a level of precision that was almost pathological, with great strength control.

Although he hadn’t specifically learned carving, he had exceptional talent, and the dagger was wielded with impressive flair in his hands.
