Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1739: Chapter 1740: A Token of Appreciation

Having discussed with Qi Taiguo, Cheng Su took out three hundred yuan, preparing to give it to Deng Weixia, as a token of their juniors’ intentions, naturally mentioning it to the two elders.

”Three hundred, that’ll do.” Father Qi nodded, ”You’re just nephews and nieces, three hundred yuan is a substantial token of your sentiment, justifiable enough.”

Mother Qi said nothing either, as three hundred nowadays counts as substantial money, Cheng Su being able to offer three hundred shows her generosity; in her heart, she felt a bit grateful, respecting her character a bit more.

”You take it over yourself, let your aunt see your intentions, and it will be a comfort to her; as for the future...” Mother Qi spoke but did not finish.

What the future holds is known by all present; she’d have to rely on herself, endure if possible. After all, Deng family isn’t affluent; they couldn’t possibly send money year after year to the hospital to sustain her?

Reality is glaringly obvious, Mother Qi isn’t oblivious to it, but considering her sister isn’t likely to last many years, so young to have none, she felt distressed, entering the room with reddened eyes.

”Ignore her, let her cry for a while, you go ahead!” Father Qi said.

Cheng Su went to the hospital, coincidentally, Qi Fenglian also came.

Right in aunt’s hospital room, in front of her, she gave the money to Deng Weixia and said, ”Taiguo mentioned, this is our nephews’ and nieces’ token of sentiment, hoping aunt can get well.”

Deng Weixia accepted it, deeply bowing to her, saying, ”Dear cousin, your kindness, I will always remember it!”

Whether it was past help or now, their kindness, he has kept in mind.

Qi Fenglian also provided a bit. Although their family’s small business didn’t allow a lot, it was indeed a token of sentiment as well.

Aunt lay on the bed, seeing it clearly, tears gradually seeped from the corners of her eyes, fingers slightly moving, feeling utterly desolate inside.

Though she couldn’t move, her mind was clear, there was regret, and even anger, but regardless of regret, it was futile, clearly knowing if she couldn’t recover, when the money runs out, it’s just waiting for death.

Waiting for death...

Aunt’s eyes showed fear, terrified, tears flowed even more fiercely.

She didn’t want to die!

But who could save her?

Would miracles ever come to her? Probably not!

Aunt closed her eyes, letting the tears flow uncontrollably – dying like this, perhaps dying wouldn’t be so bad.

Cheng Su and Qi Fenglian walked out of the hospital building, sat in a small pavilion, talking.

”It’s quite pitiful seeing aunt like this.” Qi Fenglian sighed.

Cheng Su gazed at the bougainvillea underneath the pavilion and said, ”Pitiful, indeed tragic.”

Qi Fenglian said, ”So much happened these past years, life and death partings, realizing how fragile people truly are – in a blink, things vanish or ruin without notice.”

Cheng Su knew she was thinking about Zhang Jisheng’s family issues and said, ”Don’t think too much. Did Xiao Yun find out about her grandparents’ situation?”

”The child is sensitive, she guessed something’s wrong, so I told her.” Qi Fenglian said, ”She’s grown now, should learn to handle it!”

”Have you mentioned going back to pay respects?”

”No, maybe later. When she’s truly grown up, let her decide for herself.” Qi Fenglian smiled faintly.

Cheng Su patted her hand, ”Cherish the life now, living well is what matters most, how much to eat doesn’t really matter, but a family’s health and togetherness do!”

”Indeed!”

The two exchanged glances, shared a faint smile, feeling a bit fortunate and hopeful, as they gazed outside the pavilion, with the early summer breeze gently stirring, swaying the flower branches.
