Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1713: Chapter 1714: Unwilling to Leave

After Mother Cheng went back to her hometown, the happiest one was Mother Qi. She could finally ”monopolize” this little treasure, Qi Xiaoqi, but Qi Xiaoqi, seeing his grandma leave, moped around for several days.

After the last feeding incident, Mother Qi no longer dared to taste the food herself before giving it to Qi Xiaoqi. It was just that Qi Xiaoqi probably had some psychological shadow and wasn’t very willing to let her feed him, so most of the time, it was Father Qi who fed him. That made Father Qi extremely happy; he kept praising the kid for being smart and quick-witted.

It was just that, as for how big a psychological shadow this ”smart and quick-witted” had left on Mother Qi, no one knew.

But regardless, Mother Qi was still happy, especially when she followed Father Qi, pushing their grandson around the compound for a stroll. Listening to all those sisters-in-law praising him, she felt even more pleased; the more she looked at her grandson, the more she loved him.

With her own mom back in the hometown, even though she now had her in-laws around, her mother-in-law’s leg wasn’t very agile and her father-in-law was a typical old-school man, so Cheng Su still couldn’t quite set her mind at ease. After class she would head home, buy some groceries on the way, cook, and help take care of the baby. Her mother-in-law had learned her lesson and listened more to her father-in-law, so for the time being, the few of them got along peacefully.

Day by day, time passed, and at the end of March, Third Uncle Cheng called to say the shop had already been renovated.

Cheng Su couldn’t get away for the moment, so she could only ask him to drop by the shop whenever he had time and air out the newly renovated place. As for opening for business, because of her vacation schedule, it would have to be pushed back a bit.

When April came and it was Qingming, Mother Cheng, who had returned to the hometown, finally came back. Her return meant that Mother Qi was going to leave.

”You can go back for the ancestor worship,” said Mother Qi. She’d been overjoyed these past half month spending time with Qi Xiaoqi. Even though Qi Xiaoqi wasn’t very warm to her, she was still willing to stay here. So when Father Qi said he wanted to go back to their hometown to prepare for Qingming and pay respects to the ancestors, she showed clear reluctance.

She didn’t want to go.

Father Qi said impatiently, ”If we don’t go back, what about your leg? Didn’t you say it hurts?”

Hearing that from the side, Cheng Su asked, ”What? Mom, your leg hurts?”

Mother Qi pouted.

”Hasn’t it been raining these days? At night she keeps yelling that her leg hurts,” Father Qi answered for her.

”Oh dear, could it be rheumatism?” Mother Cheng asked with concern as well.

”I’d say it’s ten to one,” Father Qi glanced at his wife’s leg and said, ”So we need to go back and get it looked at, get some bonesetting done, and at least put on some medicinal plasters, right?”

”Over at Iron Crutch Li’s place, none of it works. Otherwise my leg would’ve long been healed,” Mother Qi couldn’t help complaining.

”So you’re just not going to treat it?” Father Qi sneered. ”Fine then, when it rains or snows, let’s see what you do. It’s not me who’s in pain anyway!”

”You...”

”Dad, Mom, don’t argue. How about this, I’ll take Mom to a hospital here and have it checked?” Cheng Su said.

She didn’t have that much emotional attachment to Mother Qi, but as a daughter-in-law, she would still shoulder her responsibilities. Especially now that Qi Taiguo wasn’t around, she was obligated to help take care of things.

Mother Qi had been wanting not to leave, so she quickly said, ”That’s good.”

Cheng Su didn’t drag her feet on purpose either. She took Mother Qi to see an orthopedist and also had an X-ray done. The bone had already grown back together, but because of her age, it was growing slowly and healing slowly too. She usually didn’t pay attention to keeping warm and kept getting her leg wet, so now there was indeed some rheumatism.

When she learned that it would take several years for the leg to recover to the same nimbleness as before the accident—and that it might not even fully get back to that—Mother Qi’s expression looked very unpleasant.

Back home, after they told Father Qi about it, he immediately said they should leave and go home to nurse it carefully and try some folk remedies. Even if they couldn’t completely cure the leg, at least they could treat the rheumatism.
