Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1736: Chapter 1737: A Change of Heart

The in-laws are here, and Cheng Su isn’t just throwing a tantrum but genuinely feels a headache and upset, very restless, and low-spirited, to the point of having a throbbing headache.

So, she didn’t even eat dinner, didn’t play with her son, and had Mother Cheng take him out to feed.

Father Qi was a bit worried and asked Mother-in-law, ”Is she sick? With the weather changing seasons, people are most likely to get sick!”

”No, she just said she’s feeling chest tightness and discomfort, let her lie down for a while,” Mother Cheng waved her hand, feeding her grandson.

”Why don’t I feed him?” Mother Qi looked over, wanting to take this task and used the excuse: ”If Cheng Su isn’t feeling well and isn’t eating now, how about making some porridge for her, maybe she’d eat later!”

Mother Cheng was a bit surprised, said, ”Then I’ll go ask her again,” then handed Qi Xiaoqi to Mother Qi.

Seeing her grandson’s cute, chubby face, the haze in Mother Qi’s heart suddenly cleared up quite a bit.

At night, she lay in bed with Father Qi, thinking of the eldest sister, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

”What’s all the fuss about?” Father Qi was annoyed by her noise, sat up.

Mother Qi said, ”Thinking about the eldest sister makes me uncomfortable and sleepless.”

”What’s there to think about? Things are like this, she naturally has her son and daughter-in-law to care for her,” Father Qi simply sat up, ”At this age, being able to live for several years is her own capability.”

”Eating and drinking and everything else in bed, can she live a few years? The eldest sister isn’t even sixty yet,” Mother Qi said sullenly.

”That’s why she brought this upon herself, letting herself waste away to the sickbed, and also burdening her children. Living like a living dead, isn’t meaningful, might as well go early and not burden the kids,” Father Qi said.

”You really are hard-hearted,” Mother Qi said, displeased, ”You wouldn’t know the pain unless you’re in her shoes, really swap identities, and see if you can say such things.”

”Even if it’s me, I’d rather die than live like a living dead!”

Mother Qi looked at the cabinet handle, sullenly saying, ”If it were me, I’m afraid Cheng Su wouldn’t take care of me like this!”

Father Qi looked at her half-smiling, ”What, are you scared?”

”Afraid! Seeing the eldest sister like this, I realize we’re already old folks, sick and old, need the younger generation to take care of us. Cheng Su, her temperament, when I’m old, would she serve me like this?” Mother Qi showed some confusion and fear in her eyes.

She’s truly scared, afraid Cheng Su wouldn’t care for her in the future, wouldn’t look after her, and let her fend for herself.

Actually, seeing the eldest sister like this now, she knows, even if Liu Wenjing and the others are taking care of her, over time it wouldn’t be with the same care as now; there are no dutiful children by the bed of a long-term illness, she understands.

”It’s hard to say, with your peculiar temperament, always finding faults, will others be filial?” Father Qi lay back down, saying, ”In old age, don’t be willful, now is the time you need others!”

Mother Qi didn’t say anything.

The old man was right, they’re old, if unable to move or sick, it’s time to ask kids for care.

So, from now on, does she have to watch her daughter-in-law’s face to live?

Mother Qi thought about this issue all night, the next day woke up with dark circles, heard Cheng Su had a fever, she took the initiative to make porridge for her, used cold water to reduce the fever, busied around, making Mother Cheng very puzzled.

How come this mother-in-law changed her attitude overnight?
