Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1712: Chapter 1713: Scheming

Mother Qi was worried that Qi Xiaoqi’s grandmother might complain to her daughter-in-law about her inappropriate behavior, but throughout breakfast, Cheng Su showed no unusual behavior and said nothing, making her wonder if she was being overly suspicious.

Still, she felt relieved because, truth be told, Mother Qi was a bit afraid of Cheng Su, her daughter-in-law, not for other reasons, but solely because of Qi Xiaoqi. If Cheng Su decided to prevent her from seeing him or being close to him, it would be unbearable for her.

Compared to bonding with her grandson, what is so-called mother-in-law authority worth?

Mother Cheng missed Father Cheng and wanted to visit their old home, but considering Qi Xiaoqi’s ”clinginess,” she gave up on the idea. Unexpectedly, plans couldn’t keep up with changes as a phone call from home informed her that Father Cheng had been bitten by a poisonous snake.

In the countryside, snake bites are common, and there’s usually a way to deal with them. The snake that bit Father Cheng was also poisonous. He immediately tied his calf with a rope, cleaned the wound with alcohol, and went to the hospital.

The timely treatment meant his life was not in serious danger, but the venom still spread a bit, causing a slight fever.

The call was from Third Aunt, who had come to help Cheng Su take care of the child. With only Father Cheng at home, there was no one to look after him. As a sister-in-law, she couldn’t keep running to her brother-in-law’s house. Upon hearing this, Mother Cheng was extremely worried and left Qi Xiaoqi with the Gu family, who were there, and went home to check on things.

There was no other choice. Cheng Su was also concerned and immediately let her go, personally seeing her off at the station.

”Your father-in-law is open-minded and reasonable, though your mother-in-law is a bit unreasonable. But with your father-in-law around, it should be fine. Xiao Qi is still young, so you should spend more time at home with him. Lest they can’t handle him. When your father is better, I’ll come back!” Mother Cheng urged repeatedly before getting on the bus.

Cheng Su acknowledged her understanding.

After sending her mom off, she began to plan for her family’s future.

Now that Qi Taiguo had been transferred to the troops in Zhu City, and she was staying here for her studies, she knew she would eventually move to Guangcheng. At that time, if her mom continued to help her take care of Xiao Qi, what about her father at the old home?

With Cheng Zhi out, Mother Cheng by her side, only her father was left at home, and if something happened, they’d be too far to help.

Though most people had to leave for work in the south, leaving the elderly and children at home unattended was common, yet it was a last resort. If there were conditions, who wouldn’t want the family together, to care for each other, and enjoy family bliss? Without those conditions, it was only the guardians left behind.

So later, weren’t there many left-behind children and lonely elders?

Those without conditions had to stay put, but didn’t their family have any?

Cheng Su was never the type to live well on her own and ignore her family’s well-being, especially now that Mother Cheng was helping her, working tirelessly. In terms of both sentiment and reason, she couldn’t just stand by.

Since everyone else had left, why not all move to Guangcheng? Just as they had planned with the in-laws—live on both sides. Anyway, Cheng Zhi was developing in Guangcheng now, and he wouldn’t return to the hometown for a chance at the world.

Having thought this through, Cheng Su took an opportunity to call Qi Taiguo to discuss her plans.

Qi Taiguo had no objections. There was no reason for them to settle in Guangcheng while the Yue family stayed in the small village. The money was earned by Cheng Su, and he had no issue with her planning for her own family.

With Qi Taiguo’s support, Cheng Su then called Third Uncle Cheng to ask him to keep an eye out for a house. If a suitable one came up, they should secure it under Cheng Zhi’s name as preparation for the future.
