Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1726: Chapter 1727: Filial, Not Foolish

Facing Cheng Su, Deng Weixia felt a powerful pressure bearing down on him, making him feel incredibly tense and panicked inside.

He looked at Cheng Su. She just sat there, legs crossed, arms folded, with a calm expression that was neither angry nor happy, yet it made Deng Weixia feel like he was facing Qi Taiguo.

No, the pressure from his cousin brother was nothing but cold and direct, but this sister-in-law, that was real pressure, urgent, making him nervous and at a loss.

”I...” Deng Weixia began to speak, but his throat felt very hoarse, so he quickly took a sip of tea.

Seeing this, Cheng Su spoke up: ”The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship is the hardest to handle for centuries, and your situation is special. The relationship between Wenjing and your mother is even harder to handle well.”

Deng Weixia showed a fatigued expression.

”I won’t say unnecessary things. It’s the same talk over and over, but you two are already legally married, and the child’s household registration is done, so this rice is as cooked as it can be, leaving no room for regret. Oh, there is one: divorce!” Cheng Su said flatly.

Deng Weixia was startled and immediately said, ”Sister-in-law, I never thought about divorce, and I won’t divorce!”

Cheng Su nodded: ”So what are you going to do? Your mother, there’s no way she’ll approve of Wenjing. If the two of them continue to grind each other down, you, caught in the middle, will get tired. In the long run, whether you admit it or not, you’ll become fed up. Since you acknowledge Wenjing, you must adopt your own attitude and responsibility, and like a man, protect your own woman.”

”I will talk to my mom,” Deng Weixia hurriedly said.

”Your mother’s attitude towards your wife depends on you. If you value her, she won’t dare to belittle her. Filial piety is fine, but not blind filial piety. You have to remember, you are a son and at the same time a father. For instance, lending money to Weiqiu for her dowry was to please your mom, but you also dragged the whole family into water. What if you can’t repay it? Will your wife and child have to bear the hardship too? Wear the hat that fits your head. You can’t just do as your mom says.” Cheng Su calmly said, ”Sometimes you can say no to filial piety.”

Deng Weixia, covered in cold sweat from the conversation, wrung his hands, growing even more nervous.

”Your mother’s way is domineering, it’s demanding. Weixia, if you want this family to be peaceful, you have to be firm. Your nature is too soft, only allowing you to be warped. You are the head of this family; you need to be decisive and do what needs to be done. The child is growing up too, do you want your child to learn from you to be timid and weak?” Cheng Su’s voice grew stern.

Deng Weixia gulped, ”Sister-in-law, I, I’m not...”

Seeing him like this, Cheng Su’s voice became calm again: ”Let Wenjing go out to work too. With two people at home, there are more conflicts. If she goes out to work and earn money, your pressure can be reduced a bit. As for the kid, if your mom won’t take care of him, hire someone else to do it. Anyway, Gou Sheng needs to go to school soon.”

Deng Weixia nodded.

”As for her and the child, let them stay here for the night, and you can pick them up after work tomorrow. Tonight, you should go back and have a talk with your mom.” Cheng Su looked at him meaningfully and said, ”Weixia, you’re a man, so don’t let anyone press down on you, unable to even protect your wife and child. Stand on the side of righteousness; that’s the way to stand your ground.”

Deng Weixia stood up and said, ”Sister-in-law, I understand.”

Cheng Su rubbed her temples and waved her hand, ”Say goodbye to your wife and go back. Don’t be too late, there’s no car.”

She truly had a headache. If Qi Taiguo were here, she wouldn’t have to deal with such trivial matters.
