Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1738: Chapter 1739: I Really Want You to Hold Me

Illness strikes like a collapsing mountain but goes away like silk being drawn out. Cheng Su got sick this time, and it took a whole week before she got better, losing a lot of weight. The time has now moved into May.

Qi Taiguo made a phone call home and only then found out Cheng Su was sick.

”I went out on a mission recently, and haven’t been at the base,” Qi Taiguo explained his reason for only calling back now.

Cheng Su hummed and said, ”You have no telepathy, you didn’t even know I was sick.”

This tone was undoubtedly a bit of playful chiding.

Thankfully, everyone at home was asleep now, otherwise she wouldn’t dare speak in this tone.

”It’s all my fault. Are you feeling better now? Even though it’s May, the mornings and evenings still have a chill, don’t overexpose yourself, take a thin jacket when you go out.” Qi Taiguo meticulously advised and asked, ”How did you suddenly get so sick? Have you been too busy?”

Cheng Su grabbed a cushion and hugged it, saying, ”Not really busy, each business has people managing it. What am I busy about? It’s just that my mood hasn’t been great lately, feeling restless and agitated, maybe that’s why I got sick!”

”What happened?”

”Auntie ran into trouble, second stroke!” Cheng Su said.

Qi Taiguo was startled, ”Ah?”

Cheng Su explained the incident from beginning to end, also mentioning that her parents-in-law had arrived.

”She still has that same temper, ultimately, she’s worn herself out.” Qi Taiguo’s voice showed no emotion, it seemed he was disappointed with Auntie too.

”Yeah. My parents gave two hundred yuan to them. You know how things are at Weixia’s family, no money. When Weiqiu got married, they spent all their money. Now Weiqiu still gives some, but it’s not enough, staying long-term in the hospital costs a lot,” Cheng Su continued, ”So what do you think, should we show a gesture of goodwill? How much should we give?”

”What do you think?” Qi Taiguo asked her back.

”You decide how much. Dad said just a gesture is enough, you can’t deal with long-term poverty!” said Cheng Su.

Their family had money, but money isn’t meant to be spent like that. The person is Auntie, sure, but there’s a generation gap, they’re not as close as family should be. It’s not reasonable for them as nieces and nephews to bear her medical expenses, it’s not their responsibility.

Giving a little is a gesture of goodwill as younger relatives, and it’s already kind enough.

Qi Taiguo was silent for a moment and said, ”Then let’s give three hundred yuan for the sake of mom and Weixia.”

Cheng Su naturally listened to him and said, ”Taiguo, people are really like chemistry; no one knows what will happen in the next moment.”

”Yeah!” Qi Taiguo leaned against his chair, ”Is it because you’re thinking about this that you got sick? Let me tell you, don’t let your thoughts weigh you down, it’s not good for you!”

”I’m just reflecting a bit. Look at Auntie, so extreme and domineering, yet when ill, she lies on the hospital bed like a living dead, she’s not all that capable,” Cheng Su muttered, ”People really are fragile!”

”Don’t worry, you have me!” Qi Taiguo kissed her over the phone.

Cheng Su returned the gesture, saying, ”The father of my child, you must love me well, cherish me.”

”I obey!” Qi Taiguo glanced at the time and said, ”Stop being sentimental and thinking about everything, quickly go to sleep, we’ll call it a night here, I’m tired too!”

”I want to talk a little longer though,” Cheng Su said reluctantly, ”Maybe we haven’t really talked well, ah, I really want you to hold me.”

Listening to this, Qi Taiguo felt a deep sense of heartache but didn’t hang up, his tone softened even more, comforting her and staying with her.
