Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The questions that could be asked had mostly been asked, and since the hero’s companions had arrived, it was not appropriate to disturb any further.

Standing up from his chair, Yang Yu bid farewell to Vorquis:

”We’ll leave it at that for today.

I will report everything I have learned to His Majesty the King.

You should rest well here.

Once you recover, actively contact the King and verify with him to see if there’s anything I missed in my report.

The battle at the front line is ongoing, and I can’t stay here any longer.”

Vorquis nodded, ”I can understand your feelings.

I can’t stay here much longer either.

With Tara’s healing, I should be able to get out of bed and walk like a normal person soon.

Now is not the time to rest, even though I haven’t obtained all of the Power of the Brave, I should still take action to prevent the situation from worsening.

If you need any help, perhaps I can assist you with my identity as a hero.”

Receiving Vorquis’s response, Yang Yu saluted Heroic Warrior Volcrix, then left the ward without looking back, conveying all the information he had learned to Aite Setis.

Aite Setis had been waiting for news from Yang Yu and the others since the morning, and after hearing Yang Yu’s report, his usually furrowed brow twisted even more.

Unexpectedly, two troubling problems that wreaked havoc abroad had both ended up in Setis Kingdom.

After discussing with his ministers for a while, Aite Setis decided to withhold the news from the public and secretly pass the information to the Goddess Sect and [Dragon God’s Might].

The demons are what the Goddess Sect is searching for, and the evil dragon is what [Dragon God’s Might] is looking for. If these two forces converge on Setis, there won’t be any immediate threat to Setis’s safety.

Aite Setis also planned to inform the upper echelons of other nations about all the information. Only by working together to reclaim the Power of the Brave taken by the demons and the evil dragon, could the hero truly gain the power to confront the Demon King.

Having done all this, Yang Yu and his team, after a day of bustling about, met up with Lotcar and the others outside the city.

The task of transporting Tian Hanxue went smoothly, Lotcar faced almost no hindrance and very easily delivered the [Isolation Room] that imprisoned Tian Hanxue to the imperial capital of the Luo Ze Empire, to be managed by specialized personnel.

It would take time for the Demon King to learn that Tian Hanxue had been defeated, and Lotcar utilized this time gap to peacefully complete this important task.

Climbing onto Lotcar’s back, having decided on the next destination, Yang Yu and his team set off once again.

Flipping through the task menu to confirm the changes in the situation, Yang Yu pinched his chin, pondering something.

What he initially thought of wasn’t how to fight the upcoming war, but reminiscing about what Vorquis had just said and done.

Yang Yu had only interacted with Vorquis a few times, making it hard to deduce whether he was consistent. So, Yang Yu pretended to chat casually, using his few meetings with Vorquis to probe whether the Vorquis in front of him was truly Vorquis.

In the end, all of Yang Yu’s questions were handled by Vorquis, and Yang Yu couldn’t find any flaws. It seemed that the Vorquis in front of him was indeed Vorquis, perhaps he was overthinking.

But, is there a possibility...

That the Ancient Brave Lox had taken over Vorquis’s body and perfectly inherited his memories.

The first probing attempt was unsuccessful, raising his vigilance, subsequent attempts remained futile.

This was just one of Yang Yu’s numerous conjectures:

Supposing, Heroic Warrior Volcrix’s presence here and the destruction of the Village of Heroes were all orchestrated by Ancient Brave Lox himself. He had secretly gathered his forces, intending to realize his true purpose; how should we contend with the enemy then?

If everything was indeed orchestrated by Ancient Brave Lox, his phased objectives were apparent.

We are now at the point in time when the Demon King invades this world. Countless civilians who live in peace and the high-ranking aristocrats all hope for the hero to fulfill his duty as a hero, repelling the Demon King and bringing peace to the world.

For this, they would spare no effort in opening their doors for the hero, providing every convenience for him.

If the hero said, ”To defeat the Demon King, I need people from here to die. I’m sorry, I cannot save each one of you here. If you want to blame someone, blame me. But I sincerely hope you can contribute to the peace of this world,” or the like, perhaps indeed quite a few will sacrifice themselves for peace.

What I witnessed in the town earlier is a good reference point; even without the hero’s active request, some will rise and take action, doing something for the hero.

Unfortunately, Yang Yu still couldn’t confirm whether the Vorquis before him was Lox.

Acting rashly against the hero could void everything accumulated over the years; even if some country leaders don’t want to antagonize him, they might bow to public pressure and target him.

Perhaps in the end, even defeating the Demon King wouldn’t earn public trust, leading to a demise fraught with unjust accusations.

That’s not the ideal conclusion he longed for.

Yang Yu didn’t blame the populace either, after all, the masses often remain far from the real truth, overly trusting their intuition, making judgments based solely on intuition.

Someone who killed a hero to make himself a hero—how could such a person be a real hero?

Additionally, Yang Yu couldn’t ascertain if Ancient Brave Lox had hidden cards; without his companions present, with the potential enemies among surrounding people, Yang Yu dared not act rashly without decisive proof.

Yang Yu sincerely hoped that the speculation about Heroic Warrior Volcrix being Lox was just speculation, yet a faint voice inside him whispered that his speculation might indeed be true.

Flipping through the items, Yang Yu’s gaze fixed on the radiant feather.

Once again, navigating the task interface, Yang Yu reviewed the Hidden Task [Ancient Brave Lox], although he could settle the task at any moment, Yang Yu hesitated to conclude it.

Yang Yu hadn’t fully understood the life of Ancient Brave Lox, nor the reasons for everything he had done so far, so now wasn’t the time to settle this task.

No matter what, the possibility of Vorquis’s body being entirely replaced by Lox couldn’t be discounted, giving Yang Yu another aspect to consider. As pivotal moments approached, he couldn’t afford wishful thinking or overlook possibilities.

The incessant travel left everyone exhausted.

Instructing Lotcar to return to the Star Eyes Clan’s location, Yang Yu greeted Duke Krengris and, along with his companions, rested well, adjusting their status.

Along the way, Yang Yu handed the Angel’s Feather to Gordon, instructing him to find a trustworthy person to prepare a magic potion with this feather.
