Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The metal monkeys that had fallen to the ground turned into Magic Power and dissipated, their Cores rolling into the walls and vanishing without a trace.

Yang Yu had once directed his companions to try to intercept a few Cores, but those Cores slipped through layer after layer of Interception like Ghosts, unaffected by any Magic or Skill.

Trying to intercept the Cores was utterly futile.

There were no security robots left on the third floor; Salt White Lamiya secretly let out a sigh of relief.

The security robots guarding this level were very different from the ones they had encountered before; Salt White Lamiya had no idea what kind of danger they would face next, she only hoped everything would go smoothly.

Leading Yang Yu and the others across the third floor, Salt White Lamiya saw several stark, chilling skeletons along the way.

They were all her kin, who had died to protect her; past memories once again surfaced before Salt White Lamiya’s eyes.

She boarded the elevator leading to the fourth floor and fell silent.

Not until they arrived at the fourth floor and the elevator doors opened did Salt White Lamiya raise her small, pale hand and point into the distance of the fourth floor:

”Do you see those long-cylinder things?

That is the machine that shrank me.

Unlike the previous floors, there used to be lots and lots of devices here, but it looks like they’ve all been put away.

Was it to prevent them from being damaged during our fighting, since they’re important instruments?

If we want to get everything around us running again, we might have to defeat this floor’s guardians.

This time you can really cut loose.

...I don’t know if they’ll suddenly launch an attack on me.

You need to be careful about protecting my safety.

If I die, the Lamia Clan will not let this go.”

Following the direction of Salt White Lamiya’s pale little hand, they saw glass cylinders shining with green fluorescence neatly inlaid into the fourth floor’s walls, protected by Special glass.

The vast space was completely empty; Yang Yu couldn’t see any instruments, nor any enemies. It was so quiet that a pin drop could be heard.

Perhaps only after they stepped inside would the enemies show themselves.

The monkeys on the third floor had been specialized to target them; the enemies on the fourth floor would definitely be even more troublesome than those before.

Calling out for his companions to get ready, Yang Yu carefully stepped into the fourth floor.

The rustling sound of footsteps echoed in the huge circular space, strangely out of place.

Walking to the center of the space, Yang Yu took the lead in scanning the surroundings and found nothing unusual.

Yang Yu clapped his hands sharply; the loud clapping echoed through the space, yet still nothing at all happened.

Tilting her head, Salt White Lamiya looked quite surprised:

”No enemies at all?

This shouldn’t be right.

Last time when I accidentally triggered the alarm, one powerful crocodile-type security guard after another was sent here...

But now, why is there nothing here?

With no enemies, how exactly are we supposed to make the control console appear?

If we can’t call out the control console, how are we supposed to restore this place to normal, and how do we clear the alarm here?”

Salt White Lamiya clenched her fists.

Understanding these ruins thoroughly required extremely strong willpower to begin with, and as the Queen of the Lamia, Salt White Lamiya was not someone who lacked willpower.

What Salt White Lamiya worried about was that if there was no way to clear the alert, the security robots would come back in force.

Every time the alarm was triggered, you had to input a long string of commands to completely clear it; otherwise those security robots, which were so hard to wipe out, would respawn again and again.

Only with Yang Yu and his group could Salt White Lamiya come this far; if, after Yang Yu and the others left, the security robots started pouring out in batches again, the consequences would be unimaginable.

”We’d better investigate this place more carefully.”

Catching the worry in Salt White Lamiya’s eyes, Yang Yu decisively issued search orders to his companions.

These ruins were completely different from the desert outside. In the desert the Magic Power drifted erratically and was extremely thin, but inside the ruins the Magic Power was incredibly abundant, even richer than in many regions affected by the Magic Tide.

Magic Power continuously seeped from the walls in every direction, yet Bai Jin’s Magic Power could not penetrate the walls in all directions to scout the ruins.

Approaching the walls made of Special glass, Yang Yu scanned the glowing cylinders lined up in a row. Each cylinder was inscribed with a ”Luca” emblem, and beneath the ”Luca” emblem was the image of a humanoid creature with its wings spread.

”Your Majesty the Queen, please think back carefully about what used to be here. I’ll see if I can find some clues.”

No matter how many times she looked around the fourth floor, Salt White Lamiya couldn’t find any trace of a clue. She recalled, ”Aside from some machinery we couldn’t really understand, there were also quite a few measuring tools, except those measuring tools were all one size smaller than normal measuring tools. This place should be where they carried out miniaturization experiments; otherwise that device wouldn’t have shrunk me.”

”Your Majesty the Queen, aside from saving food, when you shrink someone, doesn’t it also improve precision for making certain parts?”

”I suppose it should?

After my body shrank, everything around me became bigger. Errors that didn’t seem that big before now look hugely different to me.

...Especially in terms of volume.

When a person shrinks, their length, width, and height all change.

If someone’s height is cut in half, their volume should shrink to one-eighth. That shouldn’t be hard to understand, right?”

”Not hard to understand. If someone shrank to only the size of a fist, they should be able to quite easily machine parts with much higher precision than what you can currently achieve, right?”

”In theory, that should be the case.

But if they wanted to build slightly larger machinery, it would definitely be time-consuming and laborious, and they themselves wouldn’t be easy to move, so they’d need others to take care of them in all sorts of ways.

Besides, sometimes ’good enough’ precision is enough; there’s no need to insist on overly high precision.”

”Maybe there really are jobs that need very high precision.

If looking after them is too much trouble, give them wings and they could take care of themselves.

Wings are energy-hungry, but if their bodies are only fist-sized, with air resistance and Magic, they should be able to fly around as freely as insects.”

”Indeed.” Salt White Lamiya suddenly raised an eyebrow; what Yang Yu said made her suddenly think of a certain race. ”Could it be... this is a workshop for producing Fairies? From what you just described, were Fairies specially made in order to manufacture something?”

”Who knows? It just caught my attention, that’s all.”

Although the race column on Yang Yu’s status panel could no longer show at a glance what Racial Essences he had used over the past few years because he had stacked too many races, he clearly remembered obtaining Fairy Racial Essence from the Fairy Kingdom in the past.

The existence of Racial Essence meant that Fairies were also a kind of Subhuman.

And the purpose of creating Fairies was very likely to manufacture Magic Power more efficiently.
