Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The speed at which the Demon King conquered another world far exceeded expectations; it took just three to four days to seize the land planned to be taken in a week.

The second batch of Demon Soldiers living in the Demon World had already been sent to the battlefield ahead of schedule.

Recruitment advertisements were plastered all over the streets and alleys of the Demon Clan.

The individuals being recruited on the streets were not official combat personnel but rather General Soldiers to handle various errands.

The combat soldiers were trained years ago, with the officers leading them being trained even earlier.

The Demon King Army’s recruitment has always been voluntary enlistment, without any coercion.

When the Demon King Army invited Demon Soldiers to enlist, they promised extremely generous rewards, but few ever demanded those generous rewards after enlisting.

For this recruitment of General Soldiers, the Demon King Army still promised extremely generous rewards.

This attracted a large group of people to actively sign up.

The recruitment site was flooded with various bizarre-looking Demons, who eagerly introduced their skills in hopes of securing a position as a General Soldier.

The number of people signing up was overwhelming, yet the number of recruits needed was very limited, making the competition very intense.

The person responsible for recruiting soldiers set a standard; only those who reached that level of strength or possessed certain talents were allowed to enlist.

Those lacking adequate strength or being a bit off would receive a sheet stamped with different colored seals from the recruiting staff. If numbers fell short, these individuals could directly enlist with the sheet.

Those with insufficient strength and no special skills were told to scram.

In essence, holding a sheet means being a substitute, and the different colored seals represent the substitute precedence.

Many who received a sheet sighed, knowing that entering as the fourth or fifth batch would certainly miss the opportunity to share in the fortunes of another world.

A young Ghost Clan man, carrying his sheet, gloomily returned home; his attributes lagged behind compared to others who got a sheet, earning him the worst red seal.

Whether he would be included in the next batch or the batch after was uncertain.

This Ghost Clan youth signed up with the idea of earning a quick profit.

If he joined in the later batches entering another world, he feared not even getting the scraps, let alone making a fortune.

To him, the sheet was nothing more than useless waste paper.

The Ghost Clan youth originally intended to crumple the report and throw it in the trash, when suddenly he noticed someone watching him from a gloomy alley.

The figure was a man of tall stature, covered completely with a gray cloak, his face indistinguishable but only revealing his mechanical arms and feet.

The man beckoned to him, urging him to come over.

Initially, the Ghost Clan youth had no desire to pay attention to that strange man, but his sharp hearing abruptly picked up the sound of a money pouch hitting the ground, and several glittering Gold Coins rolled out from the strange man’s pouch, landing at his feet.

A closer look revealed that each Gold Coin by his feet was of the largest value, made of pure gold.

With a pouch filled with such coins, it would be enough to purchase the most luxurious mansion in the most extravagant city in the Demon World.

The strange man bent down to pick up the money pouch, and the Ghost Clan youth picked up the Gold Coin at his feet.

After some contemplation, suppressing his inner greed, the Ghost Clan youth returned the picked-up Gold Coin to the strange man.

The strange man bowed his head in thanks without speaking.

The Ghost Clan youth finally couldn’t resist his curiosity and asked:

”Friend, what did you call me over for?

Aren’t you afraid of danger carrying so many Gold Coins?”

”Danger?” The strange man replied with a muffled voice. ”Under the leadership of Lord Demon King, the country is peaceful and prosperous, how could there be danger?

I’m here just to make a transaction with someone.

Let me get straight to the point!

The sheet in your hand seems useless to you, I want to use this money to buy that sheet from you.

And a bit of your Characteristic Magic Power, to pass through the detection.”

Glancing at his own sheet, the Ghost Clan youth felt something was amiss.

”If you want the sheet, go there for detection; as long as your strength is sufficient, you’ll naturally receive a sheet.

Without the strength to go to that world, you certainly can’t do much!”

The strange man said in a low voice: ”I have the strength, only because of some Special reasons... I can’t get detected to obtain a sheet.

You should know which special classes of people can’t acquire a sheet.

My father’s sins were grave, the money was inherited from him, he had long died under the Judgement Court’s trial.

I don’t want my life to be wasted because of a series of negative effects brought about by his death, nor do I wish to live my life meaninglessly with the inheritance he left me.

Hence, I thought of a perfect solution.

If I can establish commendable military achievements in war, perhaps the impact my father had on me, and my current sinful actions would be eliminated.

I want to temporarily use your name, truly do something for the Demon Clan in exchange for a bright future.

Therefore, I need your help.

If you don’t want to help me, I won’t force you, I will take this damned inheritance to find someone else.”

The strange man clenched the money pouch, seemingly awaiting the Ghost Clan youth’s answer, while glancing around, searching for other potential helpers.

Indeed strike of luck today to come across such a great opportunity!

The Ghost Clan youth did not conceal the greed on his face, while also furrowing his brows internally; the enlistment sheet he held with the lowest Evaluation was indeed difficult to showcase, and if this man before him knew the sheet couldn’t immediately enlist, this unearned windfall might just fly away.

”I’ve always enjoyed helping others since I was young. Understanding this elder brother’s difficulty, I am comprehending. However, the sheet is somewhat inconvenient... Can I come closer and speak with you slowly?”

The strange man nodded.

The Ghost Clan youth entered the alley and thoroughly discussed with the strange man, using all his skills to exaggerate the value of his sheet.

Causing the strange man to willingly present all his Gold Coins to purchase the sheet from him.

Exchange money for the sheet.

Opening the pouch, scanning through the glittering Gold Coins, the Ghost Clan youth quickly gathered the pouch into his arms, fearing the strange man might regret, hurriedly greeted and vanished.

Looking at the sheet and the Magic Ball recording the Ghost Clan youth’s Characteristic Magic Power, the strange man lifted his cloak, revealing a face with embedded masks and two Ghost Horns, and sighed in relief:

”Thankfully, with this Special mask, he seemed unaware that I am the Ghost King.

If he discovered I am the Ghost King,

all those lies previously uttered would be easily uncovered.

It’s impossible for things to proceed this smoothly.

Can the next steps continue smoothly?

Please protect me!

Wei.

I will certainly revive you.”

With these thoughts, the strange man stepped forward resolutely.
