Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 398: Chapter 398: Once I Speak, You’ll Know I’m the Old Arrogant

The battle had ended almost in the blink of an eye, and the severely injured Lund had almost rubbed all the attacking Underground Bounty Hunters against the ground.

The highest among the Bounty Hunters was only Level 50, with strength not exceeding four hundred. Facing Lund, who was at Level 73 and with strength over a thousand, they naturally stood no chance.

The Underground Bounty Hunters who still had the ability to move were frantically fleeing. Lund did not chase after them but instead looked towards Yang Yu, who tried to swing the heavy Meteor Hammer at Yang Yu but found that he could no longer lift the heavy weapon.

”Sorry, it seems I’ve won this time, the world just doesn’t make sense.”

Yang Yu glanced back at Bai Jin and then issued the command,

”Freeze everything here, show no mercy.”

Iyas, who had been hiding in the shadows, nodded. In such a confined space, if targeted, it was difficult to escape, so she followed Yang Yu’s arrangement and struck only after receiving his command.

Ice Magic formed in front of Bai Jin’s Magic Wand, and the cold sewer wind rose again, freezing the sewage and the bodies floating on it, transferring all of Lund’s Experience Value into their possession.

After this battle, Yang Yu’s Level had reached Level 55, topping off once again.

Defeating Lund, who was at Level 73, had brought more Experience than Yang Yu had imagined, and Bai Jin’s Level soared to Level 60.

As for Iyas, since she had left the team, she didn’t receive any Experience and her Level remained the same.

Looking at Iyas whose Blood Volume was depleted, Yang Yu shook his head. He did not stuff any medicine into her mouth but instead, grabbing a sack as he had when he first encountered Iyas, he put Iyas into the sack and turned around to head back.

Hei Yao was anxiously waiting for the results in the hall.

His Surveillance Magic could not penetrate deep into the sewers, so he was unable to confirm the situation underground.

As Lund did not return for a long time, Hei Yao began to feel uneasy. After pondering for a while, he contacted the head of the Xidelaistra auction house and asked him to hastily dispatch soldiers to check on Lund’s condition.

What Hei Yao least expected was that this investigation confirmed his ominous premonition completely.

By the time they searched the entire city, Yang Yu had already boarded a prepared boat, leaving Xidelaistra and heading towards the port.

....

....

Days later, a sunny day arrived.

Iyas’ eyelids twitched, and she groggily opened her eyes to see a ceiling composed of wooden planks.

Looking around, Iyas saw a plain guest room where a young man was sitting in a chair, engrossed in reading a book.

He had dark brown hair, black pupils, and half-rounded ears—a human youth.

”Where is Hake, where is Hake?”

Suddenly throwing off the blanket and standing up, Iyas frantically searched the room for something, but besides the young man, there was nothing else in the room.

”Who are you exactly!” Iyas shouted at Yang Yu, ”Where exactly is my brother Hake? Hey! Answer me! Where have you hidden my brother!”

Closing his book, Yang Yu continued sitting in his chair, ”Iyas, if you’re trying to trick your way back into joining us with this act, I urge you not to deceive yourself and others.”

”What are you talking about, who exactly are you! Answer my question quickly.”

Iyas, reacting intensely, accidentally tore her wound in the process, causing the pain to make her brows furrow. Meanwhile, Yang Yu simply stood up slowly and placed the book on a nearby table.

”Your acting is too poor, Iyas, I’m saying it again, stop deceiving yourself.”

Yang Yu’s face was expressionless, and his gaze seemed as if it could see right through Iyas,

”The moment you opened your eyes and saw me, the delight and confusion in your eyes were all too apparent.

You remember everything about our affair, don’t you?”

”If you still want to argue, there’s a mirror over there. Take a good look at your expression now. Compared to the beginning, every word you utter now lacks any force. Your expression looks like you want to do everything to salvage something.”

Iyas hung her head, her gaze blurring as she looked at her bandaged body. Even without looking in the mirror, she knew her expression was exactly as Yang Yu had described.

It was definitely a foolish expression of wanting to salvage their relationship.

But this was the only method Iyas could think of.

If everything could go back to the beginning, to the day they met, to her ignorant self, could she find her way back into the group?

Other than that, Iyas couldn’t think of any natural way to reintegrate into the team.

She clenched her hands tightly, stopping her aching heart, as if grabbing onto the last thread of hope, Iyas slowly began,

”At that time, why did you come to rescue me... You still considered me your partner, right? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have helped me back then...”

”Don’t overthink it.

I warned you before and told you whether you would still be our partner depended completely on you. That was your opportunity and my last piece of advice.

Yet you stubbornly held onto your views and willingly left us.

You are no longer our partner.

The reason Bai Jin and I were there was solely because we took a task to investigate the sewers.”

Yang Yu tossed a crumpled ball of paper to Iyas, and when she opened it, it indeed was a task sheet requiring an investigation of the sewers, and the reward was a rare crystal.

”We only ended up in the sewers because we took this task, not intentionally to rescue you. We simply heard noises coming from deeper inside and went further to find a girl being bullied and intervened.

It just so happened that the girl was you.”

Yang Yu scratched his head,

”Since we had intervened and it turned out to be you, we couldn’t just disdainfully leave you in the sewers, so we brought you back.

I really am too kind.”

Holding tightly onto the task sheet, past memories surfaced in Iyas’s mind, and she couldn’t help but smile wryly,

”Being saved by you, I’m indeed lucky.”

”But this is the last time. I’m saying it for the second time, don’t expect me to appear by your side when you’re in danger again. From now on, rely on yourself!”

As he spoke, Yang Yu placed some items on the table,

”Bai Jin and I have already altered our itinerary. After picking up what we need, we will quickly flee this country.”

Yang Yu paused before adding,

”To be honest, by choosing this location initially, I thought if you could divert their attention, it would make it easier for Bai Jin and me to move.

But after waiting for a long time without any sign, I thought you were totally lost, unable to even reach this place.

I didn’t expect to run into you just as we were moving...

This must be some kind of fate. Take these things; they will greatly increase the odds of rescuing your brother.

Get better and then take action; Bai Jin and I must head to our next destination.”

Having said that, Yang Yu slowly opened the room door.

Watching the familiar and reliable figure slowly walking away from her, Iyas clenched her fist and couldn’t help but shout out,

”Wait! Can you answer one last question for me, please!”
