Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 362: Chapter 362: Always Feeling Something’s Off

The red gemstone twisted and turned in midair, adjusting its posture as if it were completely controlled by someone, and firmly set itself into the central slot.

Countless branching paths emitted a blinding white light at that moment, illuminating the dim final layer of the Goblin Maze and reflecting into the red gemstone.

The red gemstone suddenly became dazzling, its light overshadowing all others, bathing the last layer entirely in this eerie red glow.

A few seconds later, the brilliant red light abruptly softened, becoming shimmering and glistening.

At this very moment, the red gemstone underwent an unbelievable transformation.

The red gemstone actually melted from a hard crystalline form into a pool of red liquid gradually.

Suddenly, the red light mixed with a hint of white abruptly stopped, and the gemstone that became a red liquid exploded like an expanding bubble.

The red liquid spread instantly along the paths, instantly staining all the lines blood-red. Paired with the glowing silver-white protrusions on the outer ends, it looked extremely eerie, like a blood vessel-infused egg about to birth its first movement.

As time went on, the red liquid completely dried up, and the lines greedily devoured the blood-red substance.

The redness gradually faded, and all the pathways once again shone with dazzling silver-white light, and the tightly closed door likewise cracked open at this moment.

The Barrier left by the ”Red Blood Rose” also crumbled along with it.

The Magician who set up this barrier was far away in the royal capital, yet she could clearly sense the collapse of the barrier and knew that door had been opened.

She quickly took out her Crystal Ball and contacted their leader,

”Captain Gordon, I have something to tell you. The barrier we set up in the Goblin Maze has been breached.”

Playing with his Magic Cube, Gordon stopped and looked at the woman with braids and a speckled face that appeared in the Crystal Ball, pondering for a moment before saying,

”Someone has found the key to that Underground Maze? Let’s set out immediately; I’m very curious about what lies behind that door. I also want to see who it is that has found the key to that Underground Maze.”

”What about Sena and Chel Belli? Should we call them in?”

”They are currently on vacation. Sena seems to have taken a hit, she’s been cramming on demon knowledge. It looks like she saw some demon she didn’t recognize recently and wants to fill in the gaps in her knowledge.

”As for Chel Belli... as soon as he got back, he went fishing; we shouldn’t disturb his leisure time.

”Just the two of us will go. With Flying Magic, it will take only half a day from the royal capital to there.

”Half a day is enough. Even if they have already taken the treasure inside, we can find out who it was based on the entry and exit situation, and see who found the key and opened that door.”

”Understood. You’re the leader; we’ll do as you say. I’ll come to find you now.”

After ending the conversation, the Magician named Sister Ajing immediately set out to find their leader.

On the other side.

The silver door slowly opened, and bright light shone through the cracks. Yang Yu and his party clenched their weapons, ready for battle.

Contrary to expectations, the danger Yang Yu imagined did not come, and the door simply opened.

It was as if welcoming back triumphant knights, a broad and splendid red carpet stretched forward, leading to a luxurious gilded throne at the end of the carpet. Atop the throne sat a tall and deformed skeleton that looked human overall, but the twisted bones seemed to compare with a goblin.

The skeletal figure’s arms rested on the diamond-studded armrests of the throne, its cranium supported by its hands and angled upward at forty-five degrees, betraying a playful irreverence.

Perhaps, this was the Legendary Goblin Emperor from the myths.

Arranged on both sides of the red carpet were all kinds of treasures, priceless and abundant. Even Sekamens, who usually wasn’t too interested in Gold Coin, was irresistibly drawn to these glistening heaps of gold and silver.

With a glowing face that blossomed like a flower, he chuckled as he approached Yang Yu,

”Brother Yang Yu, are you really going to share half of this wealth with us? With all these goodies, I’m afraid we couldn’t spend them all in a lifetime.”

”I mean what I say, if I said I’ll share half, then half it is. That’s assuming you’ve really got the guts to take away everything here.

”I advise you to leave most of it, and only take the most precious gems. Now is not the time to be dazzled by wealth. Be alert and look for any enemies, or other mechanisms.

”Before taking any treasure, examine it closely to avoid being ambushed.

”Although it’s not always the case, I do remember encountering a tomb owner who had coated all of his burial items with deadly poison.”

Chilled by Yang Yu’s reminder, Qi shuddered instantly,

”Dangerous, I know, but why can’t we just take everything here?”

Yang Yu simply replied indifferently, ”The taller the tree, the more wind it catches. Don’t forget that after us, there’s the Red Blood Rose. Our time is even tighter than you might think.”

After a thorough check that confirmed there were no demons or traps in the room, Yang Yu, looking rather uninterested, allowed the others to take whatever they needed.

Among the spoils, most were Gold Coin with goblin faces stamped on them, heavy and abundant. Compared to other items, these were rather the least cost-effective choice.

Thanks to the System, Yang Yu swiftly located some highly valuable spoils among the many prizes.

What puzzled Yang Yu was that, although this should have been the Goblin Emperor’s trove, there was not a single piece of Equipment or tools exceeding Purple Quality.

Various Crowns and bracelets were indeed beautiful, but if they were not usable, they were just like decorative vases.

Undoubtedly, those were the most valuable items.

Qi thought the same, and snatched up several Crowns. Sekamens barked at him to stop as they couldn’t fit any more and needed to keep a low profile. Only then did Qi cease his Crown collection.

After browsing the vast array of spoils for usable Equipment, Yang Yu did not take anything else, watching quietly as others chose valuable items that were easy to carry in their own way.

During this time, Yang Yu opened the panel and settled the completed Hidden Task.

”Congratulations to the player for obtaining the title ’Goblin Empire’s Terminator’, +10% Strength, +20% damage against goblin-type creatures.”

While it was a decent combat-oriented title, Yang Yu had initially chosen a Defensive Battle path, so Strength wasn’t of much use to him.

However, completing the Task didn’t bring joy to Yang Yu, who felt like something was still missing.

The Legendary Goblin Emperor, who had left an indelible mark in history, had only left behind this Underground Maze, which was quite sigh-inducing.

Or could it be that the Task was designed as a benefit for newcomers from the start?

Pondering continuously, Yang Yu’s gaze shifted to the skeleton sitting at the center of the throne, displaying...

[A massive goblin corpse reduced to bones]
