Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 390: Chapter 390 Regret

Using the seat beside her for cover, Iyas dodged attack after attack, but as fatigue and pain took their toll, her movements gradually grew sluggish.

Delighting in the outright destruction of the classroom, Lund’s mood was quite pleased.

The game of cat and mouse always reaches a moment when the cat tires of the chase.

And that moment is the mouse’s time to die.

As the pain intensified, Iyas, who initially launched quick counterattacks while escaping, ended up merely fleeing, only occasionally turning to shoot a pair of arrows.

Swinging the Meteor Hammer and surveying the scattered wood shards, Lund finally grew bored; he stopped holding back, hurling the hammer like thunder.

Iyas, slowed by her body’s lag, could not avoid the attack, and could only let the Meteor Hammer heavily strike her chest, sending her flying backwards.

Smashing through the splinters, Iyas’s back slammed against the wall, and a spurt of fresh blood sprayed from her mouth as the man’s figure surfaced in her vision once more.

Memories of the past flickered through Iyas’s mind like a carousel.

The man she remembered knew he was weaker than anyone else, aware that an individual’s power has its limits.

That’s why he brought them together and invested his heart into educating them, guiding them to become a formidable team.

But she had completely failed to live up to Yang Yu’s expectations.

”If it were Yang Yu, he probably wouldn’t have let the team fall into danger from the start.

He certainly wouldn’t make such a foolish decision.

...To think that by simply mirroring his thought process, I could find the perfect solution to a desperate situation.

It was all just self-deception, a lie.

Fundamentally, I am unlike him; his insight and foresight are far beyond my reach.

He always knew the priority of every matter, constantly trying to keep the team out of crisis.

Whereas I only ever considered myself, thinking my concerns were of utmost importance, recklessly attempting to change his way of doing things...”

It felt as though something tightly wrung Iyas’s heart, more agonizing than any physical wound she bore.

Iyas regretted.

This regret was even more intense than her failure to protect her younger brother.

”Did I strike too harshly? Well, as long as she’s not dead, it’s fine.”

Dragging the Meteor Hammer step by step, Lund walked towards Iyas,

”I say, Elf Lady, if you don’t want to suffer any more flesh wounds, just behave and tell me where your other companions are and what they’re doing.”

”They...”

”What...”

Lund couldn’t make out Iyas’s faint voice and was about to step closer when he saw her propping herself up against the wall.

”They won’t come. Breaking into this auction house was all my own doing.”

Along the way, there had been countless opportunities to prevent things from getting this far, but they had all been dismissed by my own willful behavior.

If only I had heeded Yang Yu’s words and stayed put at that time...

If only Bai Jin’s slap could have snapped me out of it...

I would not have fallen to this state.

”What am I being anxious about?”

Iyas lifted her head and looked up at the ceiling. The light from the Magic Lamp was bright but only served to illuminate Iyas’s loneliness and fatigue.

”It’s such a pity, I had hoped to catch them all at once.”

Lund’s movements with the Meteor Hammer ceased, his tone revealing regret,

”But someone will have to deal with them. You’re out of stamina, so let’s hurry up and end this class!”

Having said that, Lund, with heavy steps, dragged the Meteor Hammer toward Iyas step by step.

Gripping the Longbow that she never loosened, Iyas took a new arrow from the quiver, her eyes becoming incredibly resolute.

”I. Must. Fight.”

If she didn’t want to be taken as a Slave, if she wanted to save Hake, if she wanted to admit her mistakes and become companions with them once more...

She had to fight.

Not constantly thinking about what he would do but fighting with the knowledge she learned from him.

Whether running away, facing head-on, or using sneaky tricks, surviving is the greatest victory.

Gradually calming down, Iyas felt her senses, which had been blocked by her emotions, become clear again.

The small sound of flowing water and the squeaking of mice coming from the cracks in the wall behind her made their way unabated into her ears.

”How fortunate this is.

As he said, I am, indeed, a lucky person.”

With self-mockery, Iyas wiped the blood trickling from the corner of her mouth.

A dangerous plan began to brew in her mind.

Watching Lund approaching closer, Iyas took a bottle out of her bag, opened the cap, and bit it in her mouth. Using all her strength, she ran toward Lund, fatigue-stricken hands pulling the bowstring once again.

”So you still want to resist now? Do you think an ordinary potion can let you cling to life for a little while?”

Lund’s face was full of mockery as he swung the Meteor Hammer toward Iyas.

This time Iyas did not dodge; she just ran towards Lund, and the spiked hammer struck her right thigh with a thunderous blow.

Pain coursed through Iyas’s entire body, and she even clearly heard the crisp sound of her thigh bone breaking, but she gritted her teeth and persisted.

Iyas lifted her head, gulping down all the potion in her mouth. She drew the Longbow close at hand, and a golden glow sparked once more on the arrow. Iyas’s vision focused solely on Lund.

It was the strongest burst of power Iyas could unleash, the combination of ”Hunter Mark” and ”Deadly Shot,” and this combo could indeed deal damage to Lund.

Lund also sensed Iyas’s intention. He released one hand from the Meteor Hammer, intending to defend, but it was still a step too late. The gold-glowing arrow passed through Lund’s hands and shot towards his heart.

With one hand continuing to control the Meteor Hammer, sweeping Iyas away, Lund’s other hand stopped mid-air, disbelievingly staring at the arrow buried in his chest. Hot blood slowly seeped from the wound, soaking his garment.

Iyas tumbled to steady her body, feeling lighter than ever before. The lost stamina, the wounds on her body, under the effect of the potion, healed completely, even the broken thigh reconnected.

Yet Iyas did not pause in surprise at the changes in her body for even a second, as she drew a new arrow from the quiver and continued to shoot at Lund.

Incredibly, Lund caught Iyas’s arrow again in an instant, crushing it to pieces.

”You dare treat your teacher this way, refusing the toast only to drink a forfeit! I’ll crush all your limbs, tie you up, and let you truly understand what Hell is!”

From beneath the Knight Helmet, a pair of furious eyes shone with red light as Lund, for the first time, used the skill ”Berserk,” boosting his Attack and Speed dramatically as he threw the Meteor Hammer at Iyas.
