Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 378: Chapter 378: Come, Let’s Make a Deal

”Indeed, you still know something about the Goblin Maze. Why didn’t you tell us that at the time?”

”At that time, you didn’t reveal that you were members of Red Blood Rose either.

I did ask you if you were members of Red Blood Rose, but you flatly denied it.

If you had admitted that you were from Red Blood Rose back then, maybe I would have told you everything I knew.

But, thanks to your wish to conceal your identities, I had a bargaining chip for negotiating with you.”

Glasses glinted in the sunlight as if to pierce through everything, and Wanjing Zhuhua’s face remained expressionless, yet she couldn’t help but look at Yang Yu with new respect.

Surrounded by us, yet still so composed and calm... It was the same back then, impossible to find any flaw on him.

This man was more complex than imagined. It was necessary to test him further to fully understand his background.

Adopting a forceful tone, Wanjing Zhuhua spoke aggressively,

”Boy, do you realize who you are speaking to, and that you have any choice?”

Amid the tense atmosphere, Yang Yu couldn’t help but chuckle,

”Of course, I know who I am speaking with, members of Red Blood Rose. It would be easy for you to put us to death.

But don’t forget, if you hand me over to the Chaoyang Chamber of Commerce, it would also be a dead end.

Since it’s a dead end either way, I might as well strike a deal with you, lay out all the ins and outs, and maybe there would be a glimmer of hope.

So, Captain Gordon, are you willing to listen to my story, understand the full context, and make a deal with me?”

Yang Yu’s every word was spoken lightly, but Bai Jin knew that in actuality, every sentence he uttered was like walking on thin ice. A single misstep could put an end to their adventure.

Gripping her Magic Wand tightly, Bai Jin once again felt despondent at her sense of powerlessness,

Before they had emerged from the alley, Yang Yu had made it clear to her that even if he were to die in front of her, she must not show the slightest hostility. Only by doing so could they survive this ordeal.

That was no joke; Yang Yu was certainly speaking to them with a resolve to face death.

She should have realized sooner that Iyas was becoming increasingly paranoid. She should have attacked her with Ice Magic the moment she discovered Iyas ignored his order and infiltrated the town.

Even if it meant breaking one of her legs, she should have dragged her out of town.

Then, things wouldn’t have escalated to this point...

The Skill Scroll in her hand was slightly crumpled from her grip, and Bai Jin felt a surge of self-blame. She lowered her head, not daring to look at Gordon’s face, fearing that a refusal would leave them without any means to ensure their safety.

But Gordon, having heard Yang Yu’s words, unusually showed a smile, gestured for Sister Ajing to lower her Magic, took a few steps towards Yang Yu, and said:

”Let’s hear your story. Tell me why you are wanted.

In exchange, you must tell me everything you know about the Goblin Maze.

If you dare to hide anything this time, you should know the consequences.”

An overwhelming surge of Magic Power erupted from Gordon, but Yang Yu simply smiled casually as if chatting with an old friend, revealing everything about his infiltration into the Silver Orchid Commerce for investigation.

”I helped Giant Umbrella Chamber of Commerce and tampered with Silver Orchid Commerce’s cake, indirectly causing Silver Orchid Commerce to flee to this country. Naturally, they despise me to the bone, wishing they could flay and dismantle me.”

”They think I’d run all the way to Serti just to fence stolen goods, which is why they teamed up with the Chaoyang Chamber of Commerce.

In a way, they really did hit the mark.

But I don’t feel the slightest bit of regret. To treat people inhumanely, to conduct dark biochemical research, to indirectly destroy that enormous commerce, I don’t think I’m in the wrong.”

”Evidence?”

”I only recently arrived at Serti from the All Things Library.

You’ve been here, so surely you haven’t heard of the Chaoyang Chamber of Commerce suddenly falling out with someone.

Think about it, they went out of their way to target someone with no background whatsoever.

About my deeds, you can also check in the Tren Republic, back when I was green behind the ears, I used my real name and photo.

With the incidents involving the Giant Umbrella Chamber of Commerce and the Silver Orchid Commerce being so big, people who love to gossip should have made a huge fuss about it and investigated thoroughly.

Just ask around, and you’ll know whether I’m telling the truth or not.”

”Don’t listen to him, Gordon, he’s just trying to buy time.”

Pomegranate Granny was getting anxious; she had finally caught a chance for her grandson’s meteoric rise, and she wouldn’t let Yang Yu slip through her fingers so easily.

Facing such groundless accusations, Yang Yu was disdainful as he took out a Revive Elixir from the System and tossed it to Gordon.

”Since Grandma insists, as long as the Red Blood Rose is willing to guarantee my safety, I’m willing to wait until the investigation is over. This is a potion I got from the Silver Orchid Commerce; consider it payment for your investigation, and anything extra can serve as a token of friendship.”

Catching the potion, the light golden liquid inside emanated boundless vitality, its mere sight refreshing the spirit.

Gordon took out an identical potion from his Storage Magic, and upon comparison, there was no difference between the two. Even at the bottom, there was a glittering powder settled, just like Fairy Scale Powder.

”There’s no need for an investigation; I believe what you said. Now, it’s time for you to answer our questions, right?”

”Before that, I hope you can guarantee our safety and promise not to take action against us. I don’t need much time, just within a year,” Yang Yu said with a smile.

”No way, absolutely not! We can’t let this guy go. His accomplice injured me and ruined my favorite carriage; I must get some compensation.” Pomegranate Granny coughed heavily, feigning the persona of the weak and ill.

Yang Yu again took out a Revive Elixir from the System, along with an empty vial, and poured half of the Revive Elixir into it, tossing it to Gordon.

”This medicine is the best in the world. With this, her health will naturally improve.

As for the compensation for her carriage, I’m willing to pay five times its value. If that’s not enough, I can use my Equipment as collateral. Please, let us go.”

Gordon had never met someone who could speak of begging for mercy so righteously and was somewhat intrigued.

But before Gordon could ask any questions, Pomegranate Granny was yelling discontentedly,

”You should be handed over to the chamber of commerce. Who knows if you’re lying or not, Gordon, listen to me, come help me out, will you?”

”Pomegranate Granny, don’t push your luck. If you want to know the truth, go investigate on your own.”

Gordon threw a full vial of Revive Elixir to Pomegranate Granny,

”Here’s a full vial of the potion for you, and don’t meddle anymore. Otherwise, even if you’re an old friend of my grandmother’s, don’t blame me for turning against you.”
