Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 379: Chapter 379: What a Coincidence, I Was Thinking the Same

Holding a potion worth millions in her hand, Pomegranate Granny snorted coldly and tossed the potion to Hei Yao, who had been silently watching the entire time.

She couldn’t believe that Gordon, who had once respected her immensely, would now speak to her in such a manner.

Pomegranate Granny was well aware of Gordon’s personality; once he became interested in something, he would cling to it relentlessly.

Although she didn’t know what past interactions had occurred between Yang Yu and Gordon, Yang Yu had successfully caught Gordon’s attention, and she found herself unable to intervene in their conversation, only able to watch foolishly from the side.

”No one else will bother us now,” Gordon said with a smile,”what is the real truth behind the Goblin Maze that you spoke of, and if you truly reached the last floor, faced with mountainous treasures, why were you indifferent?”

”I thought you might discover something, but it turns out you found nothing,” Yang Yu spread his hands, ”It seems that you’re completely unaware that the Goblin Maze might have an eleventh floor.”

”An eleventh floor?”

While collecting treasures, Gordon had also seriously inspected the room for any strange mechanisms that could open a secret passage, but found nothing.

Even if Sister Ajing used Magic to examine the entire room, all they got was, ”This is an ordinary room.”

The Goblin Maze only had ten floors, yet Yang Yu boldly stated that there was an eleventh floor, which made Gordon increasingly curious.

”Why can you assert that there is an eleventh floor in that Goblin Maze?”

Yang Yu didn’t rush to answer Gordon but instead asked, ”That skeleton sitting on the throne, who do you think it is?”

Hearing Yang Yu mention the skeleton, Gordon was convinced that Yang Yu indeed had entered the tenth floor of the Goblin Maze.

On the tenth floor, Gordon had Wanjing Zhuhua carefully examine the skeleton, which bore distinct goblin features and remnants of Magic Power similar to goblins on its bones, but that skeleton didn’t resemble a typical goblin, as ordinary goblins couldn’t grow that large.

The only certainty was that the skeleton was not a monster from the maze but a creature that had actually existed.

”In this world, goblins are generally very short.

Yet that body, standing taller than an adult human.

The only goblin that could sit on such a throne in this world would likely be the Goblin Emperor.”

”That’s what I thought,” Yang Yu smiled, ”Before I explain why I am so certain that there exists an eleventh floor in that Goblin Maze, would you like to know how I acquired the key to open that door?”

Gordon nodded, ”Honestly, I’m quite interested.”

Seeing Gordon’s enthusiasm, Yang Yu neatly recounted his battles in the Goblin Forest.

”...Defeating that Goblin King really wasn’t easy.

That goblin’s Intelligence was exceptionally abnormal.

What’s more astonishing is, during the ancient Dark era, the goblins that ruled the Goblin Empire were probably a group of creatures whose Intelligence could match humans.

Otherwise, the very idea that mere goblins established an empire on their own strength is absurd.

The mutual conquest among humans wasn’t the main reason for the rise of the Goblin Empire, it was merely an opportunity for them.

Inside that Goblin Maze, the deeper it went, the more strange goblin creatures existed.

What exactly were they based on?

If I hadn’t seen that skeleton, perhaps, I might think they were created based on an ideal image of goblins in their minds, but having seen the skeleton, I am more inclined to believe they all truly existed.”

Gordon somewhat agreed with what Yang Yu had said.

Had he not seen that skeleton, he probably would have assumed those creatures of the underground city were monsters imagined based on goblins.

But seeing that skeleton, Gordon’s mind entertained other thoughts.

Perhaps, the creatures in that Underground Maze really had existed.

”But you still haven’t explained why you are so sure that the Goblin Maze has an eleventh floor.”

”Because the Goblin Emperor died on the tenth floor, and logically, that doesn’t make sense.”

Yang Yu pointed at his eyes,

”You haven’t truly fought that guy yourself, so you don’t know how obsessively that self-proclaimed Goblin King is focused on conquering humans.

With its intelligence, it surely understands that there are many people in this world stronger than it.

Yet it still confidently carried out its plans to conquer, without sparing any effort.

Perhaps, the gemstone inside it guided it, allowing it to see something that made it believe there definitely is something in this world that could make its power overwhelming to all.

That’s also why we headed to the Goblin Maze.”

”So your arrival at the Goblin Maze aims for power, not treasure?” Gordon paused, ”The treasure of the Goblin Maze is just an illusion, deeper inside there might be something that the Goblin King truly desires, something that could actually give it power, is that why you’re so sure the Goblin Maze has an eleventh floor?”

You could say that, or say not.

Yang Yu, who had played countless games, leaned towards another possibility.

The Goblin King might just be a pawn, born to have its gemstone taken away.

Relying on strong adventurers is much more reliable than using weak goblins.

Moreover, humans were easier to deal with than expected.

”Previously, I thought so too. But I regretted it when I saw that skeleton.”

Yang Yu furrowed his brows, his face filled with helplessness, as he looked up at the azure sky and expressed,

”The Goblin Emperor is a goblin who created a bloody myth, the Goblin Empire might not crumble so easily under the siege of humans.

Legend and fact always differ, especially with humans, who often revise facts in their favor.

We might have opened a Pandora’s Magic Box.”

The scene fell silent.

Wanjing Zhuhua pushed up her glasses and voiced what Yang Yu wanted to say next,

”Are you suggesting that the Goblin King might still be alive? Or that it has mastered the method of resurrection?”

As she spoke, Wanjing Zhuhua hurled a scorching Fireball Magic towards Yang Yu,

”This crucial piece of information, why didn’t you tell us back then!”

”Back then, I did ask if you were from Red Blood Rose, but you all denied it.

Whether the final layer holds supreme power and precious treasure, or a resurrected Goblin King, no one can say for certain.”

Yang Yu gave a wry smile,

”I admit, back then, I did harbor thoughts of monopolizing it.

Luo said I had the potential to become an S-level adventurer, and I thought so too.

I felt I just needed an opportunity to demonstrate my strength and gain fame.

Defeating an ancient king seemed like a good chance.

But today I see, indeed, I still can’t compare to the people of Red Blood Rose.

You guys are more suitable to take over this matter than I am.”
