Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 363: Chapter 357: Short in Weight

No matter how many times he looked, the name of the skeleton never changed.

On those white bones, there were many priceless items. Yang Yu instructed Sekamens and the others that they must never covet the items on the skeleton.

When everyone’s storage bags were filled with heavy spoils of war, Yang Yu and Bai Jin erased their traces of presence, then closed the silver door halfway before they left the last floor of the Goblin Maze.

As they climbed upwards, Yang Yu encountered Kegro, who had guided them into the Goblin Maze. Kegro was very happy to see Yang Yu and his group, and he approached them.

Yang Yu took the opportunity to chat with him for a bit, mentioning that sounds of fighting were coming from deeper within the Underground Maze, and it seemed like there were some very powerful monsters present.

They had heard the monster’s howling and felt it was extremely dangerous, so they hurriedly left the place.

Out of kindness, Yang Yu advised Kegro not to proceed deeper out of curiosity.

The monsters on the last few floors were very strong, and they had only managed to defeat a few.

Everything Yang Yu said was true, but all fell short of the full truth, just like some public relations talk.

For example, when Yang Yu said he felt danger, he meant he feared that others would discover they had taken treasures, which would lead to competition from all sides and place them in great peril.

To outsiders unaware of the situation, it seemed as though Yang Yu and his group sensed an intense battle happening on the Tenth Floor and consequently hurried to end their cultivation and leave.

In reality, that intense battle was fought by Yang Yu and his group. They had left in a hurry to prevent others from discovering their bountiful return.

Kegro was skillfully led by Yang Yu’s tempo, agreeing to linger on the Fifth and Sixth Floors, informing others not to venture too deeply, so as to avoid getting engulfed in danger.

Praising Kegro as an outstanding guide, Yang Yu left the Goblin Maze contentedly. After discussing with the others, they decided to continue staying in the town for a few more days to sort out some matters.

Things to do included teaching Sekamens and his team to become excellent actors, discussing future strategies... and confirming some thoughts in their hearts.

But first, they were to receive today’s ”VIP.”

As a celebration, Yang Yu took his team and Sekamens’ squad for a feast at the town’s finest restaurant, waiting for the ”VIP” to arrive.

With the moon casting a hazy glow, the town filled with budding adventurers was just beginning to bustle.

New adventurers returning from the Underground Maze would rest here, using the night to share experiences with other novices and discuss how to make the most of the lessons learned for the future.

Not only new adventurers came here, but also caravans transporting goods.

To merchants, these hopeful novices were more willing to lend a helping hand.

Even if mountain bandits were lurking nearby, they would quickly be dealt with by these newbies—there was no safer route than this one.

And these caravans would bring some good things to the town in return, gradually bringing prosperity to this secluded place.

Back at the inn, Yang Yu and his group happened to encounter two mysterious figures in black robes who were inquiring about them at the reception desk.

The innkeeper pointed behind the mysterious people, making them aware of Yang Yu and his group’s arrival, before he continued with his own work.

One of the black-robed figures, who seemed to be only around twelve or thirteen years old, approached Yang Yu and his group, and with a smile, asked:

”I’ve heard that the two of you, along with your team, have ventured into the deeper levels of the Goblin Maze. There are some matters I’d like to discuss in detail with you, and it won’t take up much of your time. If you find it bothersome, I’m willing to pay a satisfying compensation.”

The man’s face was obscured by the brim of his black robe, making it unclear, while the woman by his side, also with an unclear face, could be seen wearing large round glasses.

If Yang Yu had encountered them for the first time, he would have mistaken them for some delusional teenagers.

But through the panel, Yang Yu easily confirmed their identities; the visitors were none other than Gordon, the captain of Red Blood Rose, and Wanjing Zhuhua, affectionately known as Sister Ajing by the team members.

”Indeed, we have reached the deeper levels of the Goblin Maze today, and what we encountered there isn’t something to boast about. Since you’ve brought it up, we naturally can’t refuse. Please, take a seat.”

After inviting the two distinguished guests to sit down, Yang Yu asked the server for a pot of tea, and then, just as he had dealt with Kegro, he mostly told the truth but with some omissions.

To outsiders, what Yang Yu and his team experienced still seemed like the perspective of a spectator.

Gordon tapped his index finger on the table, patiently listening to Yang Yu’s account, his face hidden beneath the black robe betraying no emotion, and then raised a question,

”After you heard that strange noise, didn’t you want to go deeper to take a look?”

Yang Yu replied calmly, ”Of course we also thought about going to the last floor to see what was really happening, but we are well aware of our own strength.

The monsters on the Ninth Floor were enough to give us trouble, not to mention the potential existence of a Lord-type monster on the Tenth Floor.

With the mentality of picking up what others have left behind, it’s possible to take a look at the last layer, but those capable of dealing with such monsters are certainly no pushovers. If they mistakenly think we are there to steal treasures, then the loss would not be worth the gain. On second thought, it’s better not to.

People often say, ’Men die for wealth, and birds die for food.’

But I still believe that the lives of my teammates are above all else and should not be subjected to excessive risks.”

Gordon nodded in agreement and extended his hand with two fingers raised,

”Second question: before you heard the strange noise, did you see any suspicious people entering the last floor?”

Yang Yu crossed his arms and thought hard, then definitively answered, ”The Underground Maze is complex, and if you turn into a corner, it’s difficult to detect if anyone else is engaging in battle on other paths.

So I’m afraid, I did not see anyone else entering the last layer.”

After receiving Yang Yu’s response, Gordon looked towards Wanjing Zhuhua and asked, ”Do you have any other questions? If there’s nothing else you want to ask, let’s head back.”

Wanjing Zhuhua slightly lifted her head, her round glasses reflecting the bright lights of the inn, making it hard to discern her true face.

Suddenly, a mighty magic power emanated from her body, powerful and imposing, making it impossible for anyone to lie under its influence.

Wanjing Zhuhua’s tone was icy as she issued a soul-piercing interrogation to Yang Yu,

”You lied, didn’t you?”

The room fell into dead silence, everyone waiting for Yang Yu’s response.

Yang Yu simply picked up the teapot and poured a cup of tea for Wanjing Zhuhua, sliding it across the table to her,

”What are you referring to? And how did you discern that I was lying?”
