Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 372: Chapter 372: Cast It Out of Mind

Time flowed slowly, and within the forest, Iyas, who was waiting for Yang Yu, grew increasingly restless and found a clearing to practice her archery.

Even after hearing Lotcar’s words, her opinion still hadn’t changed.

Both Yang Yu and Bai Jin had acquired new Skills, becoming stronger than before, so she must also become stronger in order not to hold them back.

Although Yang Yu had said he would find some Skills for her to compensate for her strength, from his attitude, it was clear that the Skills he intended to find for her were likely support Skills, which could not enhance her strength in the short term.

In the future, the Skills that Yang Yu would want her to learn were probably all going to be of supportive nature.

Iyas wasn’t averse to supportive Skills and acknowledged the critical role she played as Rococo’s Priest in the Goblin Maze.

However, Iyas believed that now was not the time to learn those Skills; instead, it was a time to steadily increase her own strength to rescue Hake amidst the myriad of difficulties.

Drawing the bow, with the arrow firmly in hand aimed at the target’s center, Iyas still couldn’t calm the heart that continued to throb intensely due to anxiety.

Her ears could even hear the sound of her own heart’s chaotic beats, which only aggravated the irritation brewing within her.

”I have something minor to take care of and need to step away for a bit. It shouldn’t take too long.”

”Don’t leave on your own, don’t forget what Yang Yu said.”

Eyes closed, Lotcar preferred to rely on hearing and smell rather than sight to perceive his surroundings.

He clearly knew from the sounds around him that Iyas had climbed onto a tree branch.

”I’m just going to take a quick look, check the outskirts of the forest. It won’t be an issue, and I can see if they’re coming back.”

With those words, Iyas propelled herself with force, leaping through the canopy of the forest.

Lotcar rotated his ears, waiting until the sounds of Iyas’ departure grew distant. He then opened his eyes, stood, and followed in the direction Iyas had left.

Although unsure of Yang Yu’s exact intentions, after hearing his words, Iyas would surely hesitate before leaving the forest.

”Hopefully, it won’t affect Yang Yu’s plans.”

Lotcar did not know the specifics of Yang Yu’s plan but had agreed to all the requests Yang Yu made to him.

If Yang Yu did not wish to speak, he would not inquire further.

That man had always been far more foresightful than him. He hoped that everything Yang Yu envisioned would go smoothly so they could head to Wansheng Country sooner.

...

...

Agilely leaping between the treetops, Iyas gradually approached the edge of the forest.

Though it had been some time since she had jumped through the treetops, all techniques seemed ingrained in her DNA; as soon she moved among the trees, all the skills of navigating the forest came instinctively to her.

Selecting a tall tree, Iyas concealed herself among the dense foliage, casting her gaze toward the road leading to the town.

Yang Yu had said that she must stay in this forest, and now everything was in compliance; even if Yang Yu were to nitpick, he wouldn’t find any fault.

Just a glance shouldn’t be a problem.

Her eyes scanned the carriages passing by, and Iyas began searching for any faces she might recognize.

As an excellent Hunter, Iyas possessed remarkable eyesight and the ability to distinguish individuals.

Having seen someone once, she could recognize them a second time based on their silhouette and mannerisms alone.

Of course, this was only a short-term solution.

A year had passed since she was captured, and Iyas was not sure if she could still recognize the devils who had put her in such a situation.

In fact, Iyas also knew that it was like finding a needle in a haystack, but only by doing this could she find some consolation.

Staring intently at the carriages on the road, Iyas felt her restless heart calm down considerably.

Suddenly, amidst the constant coming and going of carriages, an extremely luxurious one appeared, and Iyas’s gaze was involuntarily drawn to it.

It wasn’t the opulence of the carriage that attracted her, but the crest engraved on it—the emblem of the Chaoyang Chamber of Commerce; the carriage was indeed used by members of the Chaoyang Chamber of Commerce.

At that moment, the carriage was open for ventilation, and with a little effort, one could see clearly who was sitting inside.

Iyas had a strong premonition the man she had been looking for was sitting in that carriage.

There was no particular reason, just an intuition deep inside her that told her so.

Leaping from the tallest tree and leaving the edge of the forest, Iyas tried to see the face of the person riding in the carriage and started jogging on the road.

The luxurious carriage stopped at the city gate, where a tall man stepped out and greeted the soldiers guarding the city warmly, offering them some rewards.

After that, the man climbed back into the carriage.

She stopped in her tracks. The man seemed oddly familiar; Iyas superimposed his image with that of the auctioneer who had conducted their sale at the auction house.

Iyas’s hands trembled as she took out the map from her bosom—the map Yang Yu had given her, depicting the auction house’s location and the distribution of flowers. Only when overlaid did those locations become their target.

And the distribution of the fragrance of the flowers happened to include this place.

Leaving this city and following the direction of the city gates could lead to an auction house that Yang Yu had narrowed down to.

A current of electricity seemed to flash through Iyas’s mind, connecting everything together.

That man was the auctioneer who had presided over her sale at the auction house, and the auction house in that direction was the one where she and her brother had been sold.

If she just followed this route to that auction house... No, there was a more convenient method, and she couldn’t confirm whether Hake was still at that auction house.

So, the best approach was to capture that guy.

If she captured that guy, she could force out of him the whereabouts of Hake. It wouldn’t matter if Sekamens and his men came up empty-handed.

Because this was decisive evidence in her hands.

All she had to do was to have Yang Yu capture that man, and everything would be resolved smoothly.

Iyas took a step forward but suddenly came to a halt.

Could she really wait for Yang Yu to return?

She was the only one who knew of that man, and all she knew was that he belonged to the Chaoyang Chamber of Commerce, nothing more.

If she lost him now and had to search again, it would surely take more time and further delay finding Hake.

Moreover, if she really passed this message to Yang Yu—who already had that attitude toward her—he would surely reject it outright, unwilling to take the risk of entering the city to capture that bastard. Instead, he would choose to wait for Sekamens, letting her slip through her fingers the clue she had finally obtained.

Iyas clenched her teeth.

She could only rely on herself now, only she could save Hake, and she was certain she could save him.

As long as she applied what she had learned from Yang Yu, she could definitely rescue Hake, without a doubt.

With these thoughts filling her mind, Iyas put Yang Yu’s instructions behind her and stepped onto the main road, running towards the city gates.
