Chapter 382: Chapter 382: Plan Goes Through

”Why... did you suddenly look at me that way... That look, it seemed to say everything Bai Jin said was right, and if you don’t obey, just get as far away as you can.”

Yang Yu slightly closed his eyes, and upon reopening them, not even a slight change flickered in his gaze. His words pierced into Iyas’s heart like needles of ice.

”Our destination has not changed, just as Bai Jin said, if you still insist on going to Xidelaistra, then go by yourself!

I won’t risk my team following you on another gamble.”

”My team... such phraseology...”

Iyas didn’t want to admit it, but Yang Yu’s words had seemingly already cleaved her from the team, as if with a sharp blade.

”Aren’t we the same team?”

The coldness on Yang Yu’s face did not waver,

”Whether we are or not, that all depends on you. This is your chance, and my final piece of advice.

The intelligence you’ve gathered is utterly worthless.

I’ll say it again, it’s an obvious trap, don’t be a fool and fall for it so easily.

Now, listen to me and come with us to the port.”

To think he said my intelligence is utterly worthless...

Iyas had never imagined that the efforts she had made could be so utterly dismissed by Yang Yu in an instant.

She stood there, facing Yang Yu’s icy gaze, fists clenched, as a flicker of rage ignited deep within her.

”That’s enough, since you’re all so heartless.

Even if I’m alone, I will definitely rescue Hake!

The intelligence I’ve worked so hard to obtain, the vital information I’ve managed to secure with my own hands, I will not allow you to just outright dismiss it as fake!

True or false, I’ll only know once I get there!

I believe the intelligence I hold cannot be wrong, Hake must be there.”

With that, Iyas turned around and took a step forward.

Each step she took was slow. Iyas still harbored a glimmer of hope, thinking that Yang Yu would fear her leaving the team, then ask her to stay, and rescue Hake together with her.

However, Yang Yu just stood there, indifferent to the howling of the cold wind through the forest.

”As you wish. Do not expect me to appear by your side again when you fall into danger.”

”Even without your help, I can face everything by myself.”

Having said that, Iyas bit her lip and, no longer controlling her pace, left without looking back.

Bai Jin looked down at her empty palms, slowly closing them, bowing her head like a dog that had done wrong.

But Bai Jin had no regrets; someone had to play the villain.

Yang Yu had always tried his best for Iyas’s sake, but Iyas didn’t consider the team at all, acting self-righteous and recklessly.

With Iyas’s current state, staying in the team would truly only lead it to ruin.

Then, Bai Jin’s slap came from her heartfelt sincerity.

At that time, how Bai Jin wished she could slap Iyas awake, make her realize her mistakes, and stop her reckless behavior.

Yet, Iyas showed no remorse, continuing to be willful, and even said she could handle it alone, which thoroughly hurt Bai Jin’s heart.

Watching Iyas walk further away, Bai Jin felt an indescribable sense of loss.

Having been together for so long, Bai Jin had long considered Iyas a friend and always wanted to contribute to Iyas’s search for her brother.

But...

Yang Yu gently patted Bai Jin on the head, ”You shouldn’t feel any burden, what you just said was exactly what I wanted to say.

It was tough for you to speak those words for me.”

”We should first meet up with Sekamens and his group, then we can make further plans,” said Yang Yu, nodding in silence as Bai Jin stepped onto the carriage.

Lotcar watched the nearby woods before turning his gaze to Yang Yu, wanting to remind him of something but ultimately held back.

He simply followed Yang Yu’s instructions, moving his legs towards the direction Yang Yu had pointed, towards the place Yang Yu wanted to go.

In a corner of the forest, Iyas used his superior eyesight from atop a tree to watch in which direction Yang Yu and the others were moving.

Seeing that Yang Yu’s direction of travel was completely different from where he wanted to go according to the map, Iyas, holding the crumpled edges of the map, finally gave up that train of thought.

Iyas tucked the map away roughly into his pants pocket.

”Even without that guy, even without the help of the team, I will surely rescue Hake from the auction house.

I’ve learned quite a bit from him, rescuing Hake is a piece of cake to me.

I too can handle it with ease.”

Persistently self-affirming, Iyas disappeared into the forest with his bows and arrows, heading towards Xidelaistra.

Sitting in the carriage, Bai Jin curled up in a corner, still maintaining his silence.

Yang Yu continued to drive Lotcar through the dense forest.

As the sun set in the west, Lotcar slowed his pace, and after ensuring no one was following, a smile finally appeared on Yang Yu’s otherwise expressionless face,

”Everything is proceeding according to plan.”

Some people just won’t shed a tear until they’re lying in a coffin, won’t give up until they’re at their wits’ end.

A harsh social beating is the best education the world gives to the foolish.

...

”Just like in the plan, everything is going smoothly,” reported an intelligence officer to the Commerce Association President whom he served.

”Big Cake Commerce Chairman, the two individuals and the stolen elf are indeed still wandering around Sethis.

Assassins have begun their attempts, and the soldiers at the border have been briefed and are ready; it shouldn’t take long to capture all three of them,” the officer continued.

Big Pancake Face, the Commerce Association President, stacked wooden blocks into a house shape, his face showing no joy, for to him, without capturing Yang Yu and his companions, there would be no peace.

”How’s it going with the Chaoyang Chamber of Commerce?”

The intelligence officer hesitated slightly, then said, ”Although the Chaoyang Chamber of Commerce is actively cooperating, their level of engagement is much lower than expected.

They only agree to guard their own base and are unwilling to provide more troops and coordinate with us.”

The face of Big Cake Commerce Chairman showed no surprise,

”If it were me, I would surely do the same.

Our relationship with them isn’t ironclad enough for them to help us selflessly.

We’ll need to raise the price to boost their enthusiasm.”

”But that will strain our finances...”

”There’s no ’but’ about it, capturing those two and the elf they took is more important than anything else.

Arrange a meeting for me; I need to see the higher-ups of the Chaoyang Chamber of Commerce and offer them a blank check.

You’re dismissed.”

”Yes!”

After the intelligence officer left, Big Pancake Face, the Commerce Association President, added the last block to the house, his lips curling up slightly as he muttered to himself:

”I’ve waited for this day for far too long.

Even if they escape time after time, as long as I keep holding that trump card, I won’t be defeated.”
