Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 380: Chapter 380: Close Call but Safe

”You can regard everything I’ve said as mere speculation.

But think about it, the deductions I’ve made aren’t baseless, not just grasping at straws.

The rest is up to your judgment.”

After hearing Yang Yu’s account, Gordon fell deep into thought.

If what Yang Yu said was true, and the Goblin Maze indeed had an eleventh floor where the Goblin Emperor lay dormant, that would be a significant matter.

If the Goblin Maze was indeed built with the purpose of reviving the Goblin Emperor, it would explain why the Treasure Vault, despite its countless treasures, contained no equipment of Purple Quality or higher.

The Goblin Emperor, who once ruled half the world, couldn’t possibly have such paltry inheritance.

Perhaps, the truly valuable items had been hidden by the Goblin Emperor in the genuine final layer.

It seemed necessary to take the time to investigate the Goblin Maze once more.

Gordon and Wanjing Zhuhua asked Yang Yu several other detailed and doubtful points, including those about the combat, the anomalies when the door was opened, and the reasons for not taking any treasures.

Yang Yu didn’t hold much back, even admitting that he refrained from moving the treasures for fear of being detected by Red Blood Rose.

This information, which Yang Yu had originally planned to keep to himself to benefit more from the Goblin Maze, now had to be fully disclosed as a bargaining chip for negotiation.

”Even if I hadn’t used the gemstone to open that door, someday someone else would have opened it and unwittingly disturbed the scene. I have told you everything I know, so can we be allowed to leave as promised?”

”You’ve made some good points; truly interesting deductions came from you.

Since you’ve compensated Pomegranate Granny, we won’t pursue your responsibility any further.

But one year is too long, at most, we can agree not to target you for one month.”

Gordon smiled:

”During this month, we will thoroughly investigate the Goblin Maze. If we don’t find the eleventh floor you mentioned...

I can’t guarantee what will happen then.”

As if anticipating this outcome, Yang Yu immediately agreed, ”Alright, you have my word, no targeting us for one month.”

With that, Yang Yu grabbed Bai Jin’s hand, ready to turn around and leave.

However, Gordon stepped forward lightly, and a wall of earth rose in front of Yang Yu, blocking his path.

”Lord Gordon, what is the meaning of this?”

Gordon smiled and responded, ”Nothing really, I’m just curious about your abilities, since there are very few people who can earn such an evaluation from Luo.

Let us exchange a few moves to gauge our strengths.

Fighting with an S-rank adventurer like me, you would surely gain valuable experience to become an S-rank adventurer yourself sooner.”

”Unfortunately, I have no intention of wasting stamina here.”

Scratching his head, Yang Yu knew refusing Gordon like this would cause him to lose face, so he changed his tone and continued:

”We should change the way we compete; you seem to have a thing called a Magic Cube. If I can restore all sides within ten minutes, can we call off this contest?”

As soon as Lord Gordon heard this, he wasn’t discouraged or angered by Yang Yu’s outright rejection, but rather pulled out a color-scrambled Magic Cube and tossed it over.

”Alright, if you really can restore it within five minutes, we can call off the contest.”

Really skimping on the time, acting like I said five minutes from the start...

There was no time to complain; Yang Yu began observing the colors of each side of the Magic Cube and then his hands started dancing over it.

Each side of the Magic Cube was very smooth, the paint on it heavily worn, but each rotation felt clogged and was not smooth. It took Yang Yu three minutes to restore all the sides.

He then returned the Magic Cube to Lord Gordon, who, seeing all sides restored, widened his eyes in disbelief.

For such a long time, he hadn’t been able to solve the Magic Cube, yet Yang Yu managed it in such a short time.

”Don’t look at me with that expression; anyone can do it if they know the method. Here, take this as a personal gift from me.” Yang Yu pulled out a Magic Cube he had won from the System and tossed it to Lord Gordon, ”Can we go now?”

Receiving the exquisite Magic Cube from Yang Yu and looking at the restored Magic Cube in his hand, Gordon’s lips curled upwards slightly.

”This man is far more interesting than I imagined.”

Impressed, Lord Gordon let his defenses down and allowed Yang Yu and Bai Jin to pass.

Seeing that they had finally met again but hadn’t had a proper conversation, Sena wanted to keep him, but knowing it wasn’t the time to hold him back, she reluctantly twirled her parasol slightly, ”I have quite a bit to tell you. With your and your monster’s talents, it’s really a waste not to become a Monster Tamer. When you can stand on the same stage with us, let’s have a good exchange.”

Yang Yu smiled helplessly and didn’t stop walking, ”Before, I thought an S-rank adventurer was just a step away from me, but now it seems I’m far from it, it’ll take a few more years. Well, see you later if fate allows.”

Iyas hesitated for a moment but eventually followed Yang Yu and the others, and the three of them slowly disappeared into the streets.

Pomegranate Granny wanted to intervene, but due to Lord Gordon’s presence, she merely coughed and let it go.

Despite Yang Yu convincing the Red Blood Rose with their well-reasoned arguments, they didn’t convince them.

They only cared about the level of importance the Consortium placed on this matter; if Red Blood Rose wouldn’t take action, they would definitely take action next time.

Pomegranate Granny tapped Hei Yao’s knee with her walking stick, ”Say something, you’re usually so articulate. Why have you been silent this whole time?”

”Pomegranate Granny, respect here is based on power. For an ordinary person like me, there’s no room for speaking, and no right to make decisions,” Hei Yao said with a forced smile, ”It’s our shortcomings that we couldn’t welcome the distinguished guests better. Now, I’ll have someone prepare a new carriage right away; please wait a moment.”

With that, Hei Yao ran off as if to escape Pomegranate Granny’s scolding, but no one saw a hint of a smile appear on his face.

It wasn’t that Hei Yao didn’t want to say something; he just didn’t see the necessity.

He had already fully understood Iyas’s goal. Since that was the case, it was better to wait for the prey to come to him rather than revealing his hand before others.

Preparing the carriage was true, but what Hei Yao really wanted to do was to coordinate with headquarters and other auction houses to get their stories straight and wait for others to fall into the trap.

Red Blood Rose not taking action didn’t mean they wouldn’t. Hei Yao had always lived according to his desires.

This time, he was determined to organize an even grander auction, to sell Iyas at an unprecedented high price, and see the scene of others fighting over her once again.
