The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1492: Chapter 1492: Nathalie Strikes Back with a Face Slap

Caryn Zachmann wanted to find a place to hide under such gaze; she struggled to open her mouth and uttered a dry, unpleasant sound.

”I...”

Robert Radcliff stared at her intensely, seeming to want her to introduce him to Nathalie Quinlan.

Caryn’s mind was in chaos, breathing rapidly and nervously, not knowing how to answer.

Her line of sight kept darting toward Nathalie Quinlan’s direction.

The other person looked defiant, very lazy, as if she had no intention to engage with her.

Caryn humiliatingly withdrew her gaze, clenching her lips, her eyes wandering, feeling as if a million ants were crawling inside her heart.

She quickly weighed the gains and losses and, despite the immense humiliation, decided to admit it.

”We know each other...”

As soon as she spoke, the girl’s lazy, languid voice simultaneously sounded: ”Don’t know her.”

Robert Radcliff started listening to Caryn, but as soon as Nathalie spoke, his attention was immediately drawn to Nathalie, completely missing what Caryn said.

”You don’t know them?” Robert wasn’t very surprised, nodding suddenly enlightened, explaining: ”I thought you knew them.”

This ’them’ did not include Ellen Quarles.

But Ellen still felt a slap-like embarrassment.

So for Caryn Zachmann, it was even worse, her face turned white, and shortly after, her face flushed red, her fingernails nearly puncturing her palm, she didn’t even feel the pain, only feeling Nathalie’s ’don’t know her’ slap her face, her face going red and green, thinking of the ’know each other’ she said at the same time, that humiliation doubled.

Nathalie did it on purpose!

Deliberately making her embarrassed!

Caryn no longer wanted to say another word; she even wanted to leave immediately.

But she dared not leave; she had just reported to the Pharmaceutical Association, under Caleb Dax’s watch, she didn’t dare to be presumptuous...

Nathalie didn’t look at Caryn and Celine Tucker’s reactions, calmly reiterated: ”Don’t know her.”

Ellen Quarles slightly tugged the corner of her mouth, without saying much; she was even embarrassed on behalf of the Zachmann family mother and daughter.

However, she herself was quite embarrassed at the moment, too preoccupied to be embarrassed for others.

Robert, upon hearing that Nathalie didn’t know Caryn and the others, let out a disappointed ”Oh,” and his enthusiasm towards Caryn and the others noticeably dropped.

Nevertheless, he thought for a moment and still went ahead with a simple introduction for both sides.

”Let me introduce you! This is a new member of our Pharmaceutical Association named Caryn Zachmann; next to her is her mother, and the other is the Countess, last name Quarles. It turns out they are also from Z Country, just like you.”

Robert immediately said to Ellen and the others: ”This is a friend of the director, Q.”

Caleb Dax wasn’t interested in these social matters; upon hearing that Nathalie didn’t know these people, he lost patience visibly.

Ellen Quarles had never been so demeaned before, but her social skills were significantly more advanced than Caryn and the others, promptly stowing away her complex feelings, smiling, and said: ”Hello, Ms. Quinlan, nice to meet you, please take care of us in the future.”

Nathalie had no intention of reciprocating the pleasantries, very coldly said: ”Taking care is unlikely.”

The implication being... not that close!

Ellen’s bright and cheerful expression froze, not expecting Nathalie to be so ungracious, yet she held back, not showing it.

”Hehe, Ms. Quinlan is too modest, you’re so accomplished at a young age, there will be many areas we will need your guidance in the future.”
