The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1453: Chapter 1453: A Resounding Slap in the Face

Valencia Jett’s name flashed on the phone screen.

It was a phone call from Valencia.

Nathalie Quinlan didn’t answer. After hanging up, she opened WhatsApp and sent a message to Valencia, ”Heading over now.” She then slipped the phone into her pocket, looked up, and said to the man in front of her: ”Valencia has arrived, let’s go.”

Khendy Lordon, knowing her nature, said something else to her before directing his gaze towards the Zachmann Family standing not far away.

He didn’t waste words, his gaze falling on Hendrik Zachmann as he indifferently asked, ”Are you with Maybelissa?”

Under his intimidating gaze, Hendrik’s neck felt as if it weighed a thousand pounds, as if he was being smothered by Khendy, making it hard to lift his head.

Khendy had done nothing, yet he was already in a disadvantaged position.

”Yes, I am...”

Hendrik hadn’t finished introducing himself.

Upon hearing him confirm he was with Maybelissa, Khendy tapped his pale fingertips on the armrest of his wheelchair, rhythmically interrupting him, ”When did Maybelissa lower its threshold so much to let in just anyone?”

Hendrik’s face turned pale instantly, looking at Khendy with a mix of panic and urgency: ”Mr. Lordon, I...”

”If you can’t even keep your eyes open, how much value can I expect you to create for Maybelissa?” Khendy didn’t give him any chance to refute, speaking coldly and harshly, ”You don’t need to come anymore; Maybelissa can’t afford a talent like you!”

Hendrik looked as if he was struck by lightning, his shoulder suddenly slumping downward.

Khendy showed no sign of sympathy, casting a glance at him, his tone distant as he said, ”Since you’re always worried about your sister being wronged, I’ll give you a chance. You can stay home and keep an eye on her.”

After speaking, without looking to see Hendrik’s reaction, he raised his hand, instructing the bodyguard to push him in.

Nathalie had no intention of meddling and followed, stepping inside.

Her retreating figure exuded its usual subtle lowliness, but this time it was like a loud slap in the face of the Zachmann family.

So loud!

Once the two figures disappeared completely.

Caryn Zachmann finally found her voice, coming back to her senses, yet still unwilling to believe, she grabbed Hendrik’s arm asking: ”Brother, what does Mr. Lordon mean, he...”

”I was fired from Maybelissa.” Hendrik’s voice was as heavy as lead, his throat felt gritty and sharply pained like sandpaper.

Every word he uttered seemed to crush him.

Caryn looked shocked towards the direction Nathalie and Khendy had just left, then turned to Hendrik, unable to accept the result.

”How, how could it be?”

”Brother, you must be mistaken, right?”

”...” Hendrik didn’t want to speak, or perhaps he just couldn’t detach himself from the incident just now.

Leonardy Zachmann, upon hearing what Hendrik said, also wore a look of shock and urgency: ”Yes, Hendrik, maybe you misunderstood, Mr. Lordon didn’t mean that.”

”You didn’t do anything wrong.” He was flustered and said, ”I’ll go explain to him.”

Hendrik blocked his path, looking at him with a deathly pale face: ”Dad, do you know who Khendy is? Don’t provoke him, he’s not someone we can afford to mess with.”

He originally wanted to elaborate to Leonardy about the Illegal Zone incident, but there were too many people around, he dared not discuss such matters in public.

Hendrik exercised great tolerance: ”Anyway, Khendy is not as simple as you think, he has a volatile temper. It’s better not to see him at this moment, approaching him would only make things worse.”

”But...”

Hendrik held his forehead, his head splitting with pain as he said, ”Don’t worry yet, I’ll find a way to deal with this; I’ll consult with Mr. Barness first.”
