The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 749: Chapter 749: Several times taking advantage of Ms. Quinlan’s kindness_1

”...” Nathalie Quinlan really hadn’t expected him to actually queue up at the store for an hour just to buy her breakfast from the Imperial Hotel.

In a daze, her left hand was pulled up by someone.

The broad and sturdy hand held hers, with rough fingertips pinching the tips of her fingers, tickling and tingling like an electric shock, and it felt restless.

She looked up, and before she could frown, she heard the man’s deep and hoarse voice, ”Heh, it’s finally getting some warmth.”

Nathalie: ”...”

Amadeus Yancey watched the girl’s impatiently flushed pale face and said, ”Do you want to go out for a walk later?”

”Now?”

Nathalie’s attention was diverted, and she forgot that someone was still holding her hand without letting go.

The weather in Beijing in December is quite cold, especially these past two days with the temperature dropping even further.

She wasn’t really willing to go out, ”Not really...” Before she could finish.

Amadeus interrupted in a low voice, ”I’ll make you Hot Pot tonight, but there are no ingredients in the fridge. If you want to eat, we need to go out and buy some food. Shall we?”

Beijing’s flavors tend to be light, and Nathalie herself had reached the point where she couldn’t enjoy a meal without some spice.

Yesterday, all day long, she ate Northern flavors, which were bland to the extreme.

As soon as she heard about Hot Pot, she was indeed tempted, and a hesitating expression appeared on her face.

Amadeus had made Hot Pot once before, and the taste was comparable to what was sold outside; even Audrick Zachmann had tried it once and couldn’t stop thinking about it for a long time.

As he mentioned it, Nathalie remembered the taste of that Hot Pot.

With her eyes lowered, thinking for less than a minute, she made up her mind, looked up at him, and said, ”Eat!”

”Then will you come and buy the ingredients with me?” the man asked with a smile in his low voice.

Eaten bread is soon forgotten, and a favor given soon becomes a debt; Nathalie had no objections, she shrugged her shoulders boldly, ”Mhm, where shall we buy them?”

”There’s a supermarket outside The Ninth Institute that has fresh food,” Amadeus had anticipated her agreement, and immediately added, ”Next to the supermarket, there’s a dessert shop with a good Aloe Vera sago drink. I’ll buy you one when we get out.”

Nathalie lifted the corners of her eyes, not refusing.

Alfred Garland, who was following behind them, watched his boss Amadeus smoothly secure a date in just a few words, and several times take advantage of Ms. Quinlan, with a wooden expression on his face, smacking his lips non-stop behind them, deeply questioning what was wrong with himself, a single dog trailing after a couple, wasn’t this just masochism!?

”Shall I go start the car?”

Since it was settled that they were going shopping, Amadeus took out the car keys, paused, and asked her.

”I’ll wait for you.” Nathalie didn’t have a car, at least not temporarily in Beijing. She pondered that after finishing her college entrance exams and coming here, she might as well have Mrs. Ingram get her a car for convenience.

Amadeus went to drive the car.

Alfred Garland pulled Mario Cagwin away with an excuse.

Nathalie was left alone waiting there, and during the wait, she played games on her phone.

Just as she had started a game, she received a message from Stephanie Tanzil.

Nathalie propped up her phone, looking down at it.

[Lighten Chaser, I heard from Mr. Norton that you’re not coming to this music exchange meeting? What’s the matter, any particular reason?]

Nathalie’s long fingers tapped the screen, replying to her.

[Something came up.]

Pretty terse.

Three seconds later, Stephanie replied.

[OK, got it. You take care of your things first, and you can come next time if you have a chance. By the way, there’s an assessment at the end of this music exchange meeting mainly evaluating the abilities of the rookies. Do you think you could help out by setting a question?]
