The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 746: Chapter 746: This Thing Depends on Fate_1

At least Amadeus Yancey was captivated by her, his deep eyes brimming with indulgence, enough to drown someone in them. His thin lips curved up, watching the girl standing there, chuckling lightly.

This drew several glances from Brian Bonette towards him.

Master Cadmus was startled for a moment and studied Nathalie Quinlan more closely. When he saw that Nathalie Quinlan probably did not want to talk about it, he did not ask further. Turning his head as if struck by a sudden thought, he said, ”By the way, young lady, do you know about biological engineering?”

”Hmm?” Nathalie Quinlan placed her hands in her pockets, her black pupils silently watching him. Her red lips parted and she answered quite politely, ”I know a little.”

”Biological engineering is actually a very broad concept, like iris technology. You must have noticed the entry system at The Ninth Institute when you came in yesterday. It’s not the fingerprint system from outside; it identifies a person by scanning their eyeball, which is also a kind of biological engineering. Strictly speaking, it could be included in the field of biological engineering...”

Nathalie Quinlan listened to him quietly, her fair side profile looking quite docile, ”Hmm.”

Seeing that she was taking it in, Master Cadmus smiled openly and admitted, ”I heard from Brian yesterday that you are a very good student, ranking first in the Tsinghua University joint entrance exam, with full marks in science. Are you interested in biological engineering? I think your personality is calm and therefore quite suited to it.”

He was a person who believed in chemistry.

He did not stick to the same principles as other people at The Ninth Institute.

He did as he liked.

”If you’re interested, you can stay at The Ninth Institute for a while, and I can find time to introduce you to this area of biological engineering.”

However, these words still shocked everyone in the laboratory.

Especially Brian Bonette, whose fingers involuntarily trembled, temporarily masking the turmoil inside. He turned his head to look at the girl standing next to Master Cadmus, a flicker of surprise in his eyes, unable to comprehend why Master Cadmus liked Nathalie Quinlan so much.

Yesterday, when he mistook Nathalie Quinlan for a new member of The Ninth Institute for the year, he invited her to his laboratory to help out.

Today, having realized that Nathalie Quinlan was an outsider, just a high school student, he invited her to study biological engineering.

You have to understand, The Ninth Institute is not an ordinary place. The top students from various universities would break their heads for a spot at The Ninth Institute, not to mention spots by someone of Master Cadmus’s rank.

Nathalie Quinlan... It was somewhat above her station.

”Tsk,” Amadeus Yancey’s moist thin lips let out another laugh, his eyes lazily and wantonly shifting, extraordinarily elegant. Narrowing his dark eyes, with his hands in his pockets and his straight long legs leaning against the lab bench, he was very enthralling to behold but said nothing, just watching the girl’s profile.

”What do you think, are you interested?” Master Cadmus, still oblivious to the gravity of the offer he had made, appeared even more interested than Nathalie Quinlan herself and asked her again.

The girl hesitated for just a second before looking at him, her hoodie making her skin appear milk-white, her pupils extremely dark, and the shape of her eyes beautiful—the ones that turn up slightly at the corners, seeming to evoke a lazy and weary charm when lifted.

”Sorry, I might not have the time.”

Not only Brian Bonette and a bunch of people from The Ninth Institute but also Alfred Garland were taken aback.

Was Ms. Quinlan declining the olive branch extended by Master Cadmus?

Alfred Garland’s mouth twitched, his mind a bit foggy, not sure what to feel.

Perhaps only Ms. Quinlan would refuse Master Cadmus’s invitation.

Nathalie Quinlan politely said to Master Cadmus, ”I have already promised to learn two subjects with another person, and my energy is limited. If I take on one more, I probably won’t have the time.”

Chinese Medicine and music were two courses she was committed to learning at the moment.

She was indeed interested in biological engineering, but when it came down to it, she genuinely did not have the time for it.
