The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 713: Chapter 713: Someone Stepped Forward_1

”None of you have time?” Brian Bonette’s gaze swept over everyone, and as they met his line of sight, they averted their faces, showing reluctance.

He had not expected that not a single person was willing to accompany Nathalie Quinlan around The Ninth Institute. As he looked around, his heart sank slightly. Rubbing his brow, he felt a bit at a loss for how to explain to Nathalie.

”Perhaps...”

Amadeus Yancey had specifically made a phone call instructing him to take good care of Nathalie. He had just gotten off the airplane, and it was the second time he’d put her in an awkward position.

Regardless of whether Nathalie had the capacity to treat Master Cadmus, it still felt somewhat improper.

Brian himself was busy, with many things on his plate. He was just about to suggest that maybe he could find some time...

At that moment, someone stepped out from the group.

Timidly raising a hand, ”Mr. Bonette, I have time—if it’s okay, I can accompany Ms. Quinlan for the next few days.”

Nathalie truly did not care whether anyone paid attention to her and had not expected anyone to raise a hand. Lifting the corner of her eye, she boldly looked over to see an unremarkable man holding up his hand.

Meeting her gaze, the man nodded to her politely as a greeting, his attitude was friendly as he said, ”I am, after all, not busy with anything, so if Ms. Quinlan doesn’t mind, I’m available...”

Brian was worried about not finding someone, but with someone willing, he naturally had no objections. Turning his head, he sought Nathalie’s opinion, ”Nathalie, is Mario Cagwin alright with you?”

He knew who Mario Cagwin was, also from the R&D department, who had joined The Ninth Institute at the same time as Phoebe Hoffman. His abilities were average, and he hadn’t achieved much over the years.

Unlike Phoebe Hoffman who, despite her young age, had already made a name for herself at The Ninth Institute.

Mario Cagwin usually did not stand out much.

Nathalie gathered her dark eyes, withdrew her gaze, and said indifferently, ”It’s fine, I have no objections.”

”Alright, then it’s decided, Mario will accompany you for the next few days. If you need anything, you can talk to Mario or to me.”

The Ninth Institute’s car was parked outside.

After leaving the airport, everyone got into the car one after another.

Since it was decided that Mario would act as Nathalie’s attendant for these days, he got into the same car as Nathalie and Alfred Garland.

The others took a different car.

The car headed toward The Ninth Institute.

Along the way, Mario dutifully began introducing the details of The Ninth Institute to the young woman beside him.

Nathalie, who had not slept well, and even after catching three hours of sleep on the airplane, had slept less than five hours from yesterday until today. According to her original plan, she had hoped to rest during the car ride to The Ninth Institute, perhaps closing her eyes to recuperate or playing with her phone.

Now, due to Mario sharing the same car, she was forced to listen to the man recite facts as if chanting incantations, endlessly droning in her ear.

”Ms. Quinlan, The Ninth Institute is divided into two areas, one is the research institution, mainly responsible for technological development and management. The other is the intelligence agency, primarily in charge of collecting information...”

”Master Cadmus is a master in the field of biotechnology, he belongs to the research institution, and we will also be staying on this side.”

”The institution has quite a few rules, typically after nine o’clock at night it’s basically not allowed to go out, and there’s access control for entry and exit. Do you know about biometric technology? Over here, access control mainly employs iris recognition technology, granting access through iris scanning—it’s one of the most advanced access control technologies internationally at the moment, and was also the first technology adopted by The Ninth Institute. Speaking of which, it’s related to Mr. Hoffman’s work, it was the first result he achieved after joining The Ninth Institute...”

Nathalie listened to him treating her like a complete novice to technology and giving her all sorts of popular science, sitting huddled in her seat, rather annoyed, she pulled out her earphones intending to put them on.
