The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 723: Chapter 723: My laboratory just happens to be short-staffed_1

Then he thought about it again and said to her seriously, ”Ms. Quinlan, when you see Master Cadmus later, you help him check up. If it can be treated, then treat it; if not, don’t put too much pressure on yourself.”

He pursed his lips, then added, ”Master Cadmus’s chronic headache isn’t something new; many experts from home and abroad have tried but to no effect. After all, Amadeus just wanted you to take a look; he doesn’t insist on a cure.”

Mario Cagwin was listening by the side, and several times he really wanted to say, ’Mr. Garland, you shouldn’t be so dismissive, Master Cadmus is, after all, one of The Ninth Institute’s own.’

But looking at the girl with the bright and cheery expression, he couldn’t bring himself to say it.

Honestly, he still didn’t believe that the girl in front of him had the ability to cure Master Cadmus’s illness.

Master Cadmus’s migraine was a chronic problem. If it were that easy to treat, it wouldn’t have remained uncured for more than a decade.

In recent years, Master Cadmus had seen even more doctors.

Adelle Wafford had also looked, medications had been taken, but it was still the same, no improvement and even a trend of getting worse...

Nathalie Quinlan seemed too young; she might not be up to the task.

Brian Bonette didn’t waste much time; the laboratory door opened soon after.

An old man, wearing a white coat and flip-flops, walked out from the laboratory.

”I heard students say you were looking for me?”

The old man seemed not to have rested well, speaking with a voice that betrayed his fatigue, yet his tone was quite gentle as he joked with Brian Bonette with a smile.

”You wouldn’t come to me if it’s nothing important—what’s up, does something bring you here?”

Brian Bonette had his hands in his coat pockets, looking handsome and refined. While his appearance wasn’t as striking as Amadeus Yancey’s, he was still quite good-looking, fitting the mold of a scholarly beauty.

”A little something.”

He had not finished speaking.

Master Cadmus noticed that there were more people than usual today. Aside from Wallace Radcliff, Phoebe Hoffman, and the other familiar faces of The Ninth Institute, he also saw a girl.

Quite young.

She wore a duckbill cap, a black hooded sweatshirt, and was casually leaning against a chair, holding a phone, apparently gaming, seemingly oblivious to his appearance.

The side of her face under the brim of the cap was delicately eye-catching.

She exuded a casual and unruly air that was not at all unpleasant.

It was the first time he’d seen such a young face enter The Ninth Institute. He paused for a moment, curious, and pointing at Nathalie Quinlan, he asked Brian Bonette, ”Is she one of the new members who joined the institute this year?”

He remembered that the institute had recruited some rookies this year, but he was too busy. Normally occupied with experiments, he didn’t have time to pay attention to these matters.

The Ninth Institute was also an extremely secluded place; outsiders simply couldn’t enter.

Seeing Nathalie Quinlan along with Brian Bonette, he automatically assumed she was a newcomer to the institute and was quite interested. He gave the girl a once-over and turned to ask, ”What’s the young lady studying? Is it bioengineering? My lab could use another hand.”

Phoebe Hoffman’s face immediately soured.

Master Cadmus was a pillar of The Ninth Institute.

Not just anyone was allowed into his laboratory.

Why would he take a particular interest in Nathalie Quinlan and even actively invite her to his lab? Although Nathalie would be doing menial tasks and couldn’t start experimenting right away,

simply being able to join Master Cadmus’s lab was an honor in itself. Who in the country wouldn’t want to join Master Cadmus’s team?

The girl who had been gaming just finished a round and then lifted her head, noticing someone had come out, her eyes narrowing slightly with irritation.

Upon seeing the amiable old man standing there, she tucked away her phone, stood up, and replied rather slowly, yet politely, ”Chinese Medicine.”
