The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 736: Chapter 736: Let’s Forget About Tonight, The Atmosphere Isn’t Right

This question, asked so innocuously, was inexplicably seductive.

Nathalie Quinlan was momentarily distracted before she quickly came back to her senses, her dark eyes avoiding his gaze, ”...I wouldn’t say that.”

But her next line was supposed to be—why are you looking for me if there’s nothing you need?

Amadeus Yancey didn’t give her the chance to speak, he picked up the red wine and took a sip, his profound eyes seemed as if they could draw people in as he said in a low voice, ”I heard from Alfred Garland that Master Cadmus got a lot better after your acupuncture, and you even gave him a bottle of medicine.”

For the first time, Nathalie found out that Alfred Garland talked quite a bit, sharing the same problem with Audrick Zachmann—both were chatterboxes who couldn’t keep things to themselves.

She had just dried off the water from her hair and tossed the towel aside, when she exclaimed and, with the phone in her hand, walked back to the living room, ”I happened to have some on me, so I gave it to him. However, a persistent headache isn’t an ailment that can be cured in a day or two. I don’t have that much time to stay here, you can find a Chinese medicine acupuncture specialist for Master Cadmus to do some physical therapy when he’s free, and if he takes the medicine alongside it, the effect will be even better.”

Amadeus Yancey remembered her words, planning to ask Brian Bonette to find someone later on.

His gaze on her became even more intense, with a hint of a lazy seduction, and he spoke in a calm tone, ”I owe you another favor then.”

Nathalie Quinlan, half-squinting and already a bit sleepy, replied unconvinced, ”I wouldn’t count that, I owe you quite a few favors too.”

She tilted her head to the side, her still damp hair slid over her brow bone, and just as she lifted the corners of her eyes, those beautiful eyes seemed as if they could talk, looking through the screen at the man on the other end, her voice full of rascally charm, ”Besides...”

Amadeus Yancey’s hand tightened around his glass for no apparent reason at the sound of the girl’s lazy voice, which seemed a bit deliberate.

”Besides, aren’t we good friends?”

Amadeus Yancey: ”...”

”It’s only right for good friends to help each other out.”

Having finished speaking, Nathalie successfully saw the man on the other end freeze up, her mood delightfully uplifted, the corners of her mouth curled up wickedly, and her eyes narrowed as if she had successfully played a prank.

Amadeus Yancey, rarely seeing her in such good spirits, felt the gloom in his heart gradually dissipate. He set down the glass in his hand, his voice deep, ”I’m coming over tomorrow.”

”Hm?” Nathalie didn’t catch on at first, her dark eyes looking at him, ”Where to?”

”The Ninth Institute.”

”You’re in Beijing?” Nathalie finally took notice of his background in the video, which seemed like he was at home, surprisingly asking, ”Didn’t you say you couldn’t come until a few days later?”

Amadeus Yancey leaned his head back, his collar slightly open, revealing a long and straight nape and expanses of honey-colored skin.

Nathalie hadn’t intended to look, but her gaze was inadvertently drawn and lingered for a moment.

The man on the other end of the phone, whether intentionally or inadvertently, made the opening of his collar even more noticeable with his movements.

”I’m not comfortable with you being there alone.”

”...”

Nathalie averted her gaze, silent for a moment.

”You...”

She felt something similar to what she had experienced in the hospital last time, indescribable and quite complex, something she hadn’t encountered before, but with Amadeus Yancey, she often had these inexplicable complex emotions.

Before she could finish, she heard the man’s low voice, ”When I get to The Ninth Institute, I have something I want to discuss with you.”

Nathalie came back to her senses, lifted her eyelids slightly, and saw the man’s devastatingly handsome face on the screen, she fell silent for a moment, ”What is it? You can also tell me now.”

She didn’t particularly like it when someone didn’t finish what they were saying.

Keeping her in suspense.

Amadeus Yancey, however, chuckled softly, his words suggestive, ”Let’s leave it for tonight, the atmosphere isn’t right. Christmas is coming up in a few days, I’ll take you to dinner.”
