The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 724: Chapter 724: Does the Little Girl Really Know Chinese Medicine?_1

”Chinese Medicine?” Master Cadmus was taken aback, not catching on immediately, scratching his head, then sheepishly turned back to Brian Bonette, saying, ”When did the Ninth Institute get a Chinese Medicine lab? I had no idea.”

Brian Bonette looked at him, pondering with a helpless smile, walked over, and explained, ”No, the Ninth Institute doesn’t have a Chinese Medicine lab.”

”Then why does this little girl claim she’s specialized in Chinese Medicine?” Master Cadmus said, taking a liking to Nathalie Quinlan, shaking his head regretfully.

This little girl seemed dependable, without the impetuousness of young people these days, appearing quite composed.

It had never occurred to Brian Bonette that Master Cadmus would take such a liking to Nathalie Quinlan and even consider taking her into his own laboratory. With a resigned smile, he said, ”She’s a doctor that Amadeus brought to you, trained in Chinese Medicine. He thought she might be able to help you with your migraine treatment.”

”You’re saying this little girl is the doctor you all found for me?” Master Cadmus was extremely surprised, glancing at Brian Bonette, then turning to look at the girl standing there, her posture upright, he couldn’t help saying, ”She’s just a kid; isn’t she too young for Chinese Medicine...?”

He personally had no bias against and not much knowledge of Chinese Medicine, but having lived over seventy years, he had at least heard about it.

They say the older the practitioner of Chinese Medicine, the more in demand they are; this little girl looked to be of college age...

Master Cadmus scrutinized Nathalie Quinlan, more and more astonished, thinking Brian Bonette was joking: ”Are you sure you’re not mistaken?”

”Ms. Quinlan is indeed the doctor that Amadeus found to treat you,” said Brian Bonette, looking him straight in the eye with utmost certainty.

After finishing, he awkwardly turned his head to explain to Nathalie, ”Nathalie, don’t take it to heart. That’s just how Master Cadmus is. He usually stays cooped up in the lab doing research with no other hobbies. His words and actions are direct, and he has a casual demeanor. He probably mentioned your youth without any other implications.”

Nathalie Quinlan looked at the elderly man with white hair in front of her. He must have been around seventy, not as well-preserved as Shawn Norton, his hair messily combed back, tied into a small knot. Of medium height and rather thin, the Ninth Institute’s lab coat hung loosely on him, imparting a somewhat hollow feel.

He was different from Phoebe Hoffman and others; he simply wore a sweater underneath and a pair of old-fashioned long pants, with a pair of leather slippers on his feet, looking quite unkempt.

But it was clear that he had a pleasant personality and was easy to get along with, not stern.

She took her gaze back, nodded her head without any sign of anger, and spoke softly, ”I can see that.”

Just then, Brian Bonette had not yet suggested she look into treating Master Cadmus.

Nathalie Quinlan had already taken a step forward, quite naturally, asking Master Cadmus, ”Would you mind if I take your pulse?”

As she approached, Master Cadmus could see her face beneath the brim of her hat: her features were delicate and outstanding, and her skin was extremely fair. A pretty little girl indeed.

He paused for a moment, furrowed his brows, and, without malice, turned his head curiously to examine Nathalie Quinlan, asking, ”Miss, do you really practice Chinese Medicine?”

Nathalie Quinlan was always polite to her elders, even though Master Cadmus’s question was quite abrupt. She patiently nodded her head with good temper, still with a carefree demeanor, her dark eyes pitch black: ”A little.”

Hmph!

Phoebe Hoffman stood by with an indifferent look in her eyes, hoping Master Cadmus would refuse to let Nathalie Quinlan take his pulse!

However, to her disappointment,

Master Cadmus simply looked eye to eye with the girl’s calm eyes and chuckled, extending his hand, asking, ”Should I find a place to sit? I remember seeing on TV that when Chinese Medicine doctors take a pulse, the patient seems to need to sit down.”
