The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 224: Chapter 224: Just Wait for the Face Slap_1

She had spoken with Olivia Barness in the classroom earlier with this very same tone.

It seemed approachable, but deep down, it exuded an unmistakable air of superiority.

Olivia Barness might not have detected it, but Nathalie Quinlan, who had lived with them for over a decade, could easily recognize the innate hypocrisy of the Quinlan family.

Nathalie Quinlan forced a smile, glancing at her before dousing her with a bucket of cold water, ”What, did you book the entire Waterfront Pavilion for yourself?”

Ghania Quinlan’s face stiffened, and she could no longer smile.

The Waterfront Pavilion was such a place that it would be an achievement for their family just to book a table, let alone book the entire venue!

Nathalie Quinlan was clearly doing this just to gross her out.

Clutching at her palm, Ghania Quinlan managed a strained smile, ”I was just showing some concern.”

After finishing her statement, she continued to ramble on, ”By the way, mom and dad have booked the largest private room at the Waterfront Pavilion for me, and Grandma Tucker also helped by inviting the Grandma Tucker you once met at Waterfront Pavilion. She has promised to come to my birthday party. Zayn Fisher will be there too. Besides them, mom and dad said they have prepared a surprise for me. I’m truly looking forward to it; I have no idea what kind of surprise they’re going to give me.”

Her eyes then returned to Nathalie Quinlan, with as much feigned regret as she could muster, ”Actually, sister, you really should come to my birthday party. We used to celebrate our birthdays together, and it feels a bit odd not being able to do so with you this time.”

Nathalie Quinlan’s eyebrows arched.

In the past?

She remembered now.

Indeed, they used to celebrate their birthdays together because Jeff Quinlan had told her their birthdays were close to each other. Every time her birthday was approaching, Cindy Lawrence would suggest not celebrating hers and instead waiting to celebrate it along with Ghania Quinlan’s.

Saying it was a joint celebration, in reality, it was just a birthday party for Ghania Quinlan alone.

Because on that day, the Quinlan family would always buy a cake for Ghania Quinlan alone, prepare gifts for her, and invite her classmates over for fun. As for Nathalie, she seemed to be nothing more than a dispensable shadow in the family.

Was this the kind of birthday she was talking about?

Suddenly, Nathalie Quinlan felt the urge to laugh. There was a time when she might have cared about these things, but not anymore.

”You blocked my way just to tell me all this?”

Wasn’t this enough?

Ghania Quinlan didn’t understand what she was laughing at but felt belittled.

Pursing her lips feigning concern, she asked, ”Sister, your birthday will be a big event too, right? Which private room are you booking? It’s been only a year since your real father took you back, Professor Zachmann will surely invite many people. I really wonder who Professor Zachmann will invite.”

With a graceful smile, she brushed away the short hair by her ear, looking down with an air of pride and tenderness, ”Fortunately, we’re eating at the same place. Come the day, I’ll get to see for myself. Being a Tsinghua University Professor, he must have many learned colleagues, and surely those he invites will be remarkable scholars. I’d love to seek their advice if I get a chance. It’s just there’ll be so many people coming that day, I’m not sure I’ll find the opportunity.”

What did it matter if Nathalie Quinlan’s father was a Tsinghua University Professor?

Tsinghua University was in Beijing.

This is McKinney!

Why would she insist on making up her birthday on the same day as Nathalie and at the same venue if it wasn’t a provocation? Who would believe that?

But it didn’t matter.

This time she could not lose.

Nathalie Quinlan would just have to wait for a face slap!

Seeing her so full of vigor reminded Nathalie Quinlan of Lily, her eyes slightly narrowing, facing her squarely, ”Ghania Quinlan, have you forgotten something?”

”Uh?”

Ghania Quinlan was clueless.

”What thing?”

Seeing her reaction, Nathalie Quinlan knew she had completely forgotten the incident at the hospital and was lost in the joy of the upcoming showcase.
