The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 202: Chapter 202: She’s Not Your Girlfriend_1

”I can’t stay in McKinney for long, and I wanted to chat more with Nathalie,” said Candice Yancey, reluctant to leave Nathalie Quinlan. Seeing that Nathalie was indeed tired, she ultimately couldn’t bear it and sighed, ”Alright, I’ll just have to find another opportunity to talk.”

After saying that, her eyes lit up as if she remembered something. She rummaged through her bag, pulled out her phone, and said to Nathalie with excitement, ”Nathalie, what’s your cell number? Let’s exchange numbers. Once you’re feeling better, I’ll ask you out for a drink.”

Amadeus Yancey remembered her earlier, enthusiastic attempt to set Nathalie up on a date and felt a sharp pang between his brows, interjecting, ”She’s still a student and doesn’t have time to take your calls. If you need her for something, call me, and I’ll pass the message on to her.”

Candice, frustrated by his constant interference, pouted skeptically at him and asked, ”Why should I call you if I want to hang out with Nathalie? She’s not your girlfriend. Are you being too nosy? I never noticed you being such a busybody before.”

She said earnestly, ”Men who are too nosy can’t find a partner.”

After finishing, she furrowed her brows and looked at the exceptionally handsome man with suspicion, ”You’re not bad-looking, and you’re capable, own a car and a house, so why can’t you find a partner? None of the blind dates I set up for you worked out. Could it really be because of your personality?”

”...” Alfred Garland silently gave her a thumbs up in his heart.

Young lady, you rock!

Amadeus Yancey’s brow twitched fiercely, nearly unable to contain himself.

He glanced at the girl beside him, saw that she wasn’t paying attention, and felt a mixture of emotions. His lips pressed together, and his deep, narrow eyes met Candice’s line of sight. His voice was low and meaningful as he said, ”Niece, marriage is for a lifetime. I only want to walk with the right person. Everything else is a waste.”

Full of fiery temperament, Candice looked him up and down and responded bluntly, ”Then show me what a waste looks like.”

Amadeus Yancey: ”...”

Alfred Garland, listening on the side to the lively exchange, almost laughed out loud.

Miss v587, 666!

After bickering with her nephew, Candice lost interest in whether he was seeking a partner or not, and turned her attention back to Nathalie Quinlan. She spoke to her amiably and affectionately, ”Nathalie, let’s exchange contact information, so we can keep in touch more often. Edric owes you big time for your help this time. Since you won’t accept my little token of appreciation, at least give me your contact info. Whenever you need anything, just reach out to me. No matter what it is, I’ll do my best to help you.”

A promise from the eldest Yancey daughter is worth more than gold!

Countless people in Beijing would dream of such a promise.

Yet, Candice was offering her most serious promise to a girl she had just met for the first time.

Nathalie had no idea just how significant Candice Yancey’s promise was. Seeing Candice’s earnest face and knowing she was Edric Yancey’s grandma, Nathalie furrowed her brows and took out her phone.

”18XXXXXX.”

A string of numbers came from her mouth, husky and sweet, with a uniquely pleasant voice.

Candice immediately noted down the number Nathalie recited and dialed it in Nathalie’s presence.

Soon, Nathalie’s phone vibrated.

She ended the call and said with a smile, ”This one’s my personal phone; I always carry it with me. You can reach me anytime.”

Amadeus Yancey, with a deep-set gaze, squinted and kept holding onto Nathalie’s hand without letting go. He asked his aunt, ”Are you done? If you are, I’ll take her home now.”

Candice also got Nathalie’s WhatsApp and contentedly stepped aside, ”Off you go, I’m going to check on Edric.”
