Chapter 835: Chapter 246: Decaying Colony

Chen Ming felt a bit more energized upon hearing Bai Quan’s last few words, and asked, ”Kick someone when they’re down?”

”Exactly.”

”We can’t just let them retreat so easily, can we? If they plan to retreat, then we must take a big piece out of them before they do.”

”Right now, if they cause trouble, it will lead to bigger issues. This is our chance to act, and even if we do nothing, most of their resources will be picked clean by others.”

”Then I definitely need to get involved.”

Bai Quan’s words piqued Chen Ming’s interest: ”So, how exactly do we do this?”

”By seizing their originally allocated resources within the Legion.”

”What resources?”

”The fleet command rights, annual military budget, the technologies produced by some research institutes, and even their personnel.”

Chen Ming asked in return, ”You want the people too?”

”Yes, because people are resources too.”

”Moreover, all those fleet command rights, military budgets, and technologies are related to people. Without taking the people, how do these resources come to us?”

”Anyone competent won’t cling onto a sinking corpse and die at sea with it.”

”When a faction has no future left, as long as they aren’t key figures, can’t they just switch to another faction? It’s a simple logic.”

”So, we can take anyone from Lou Wei’s faction at the lower levels without a second thought.”

”If it’s the higher-ups, even if they’re involved, as long as they have potential for development and I have confidence in managing them, we can take them too.”

”Just like Lou Wei, he does have abilities — becoming a Major General in his forties. But seeing him probably makes you uncomfortable, so forget that.”

”But I’ll definitely find a way to recruit others.”

”Those are my tasks. If I can seize more resources during this opportunity, the situation here at the branch should improve.”

Chen Ming considered Bai Quan’s words and said, ”That could work.”

This could already be considered a factional struggle between Bai Quan and Lou Wei. In factional disputes, he wouldn’t sympathize with those who had faced off against him directly.

But for others who hadn’t directly conflicted with him, he didn’t care.

Chen Ming surely supported Bai Quan in thoroughly plundering the opposing resources and even their personnel.

That way, they wouldn’t have a chance to make a comeback.

Suddenly, Chen Ming sat up from the sofa, stretching his somewhat stiff body after looking at reports for a long time, and said, ”I originally thought there was a long fight ahead, but it all ended due to an assassination from Zuo Jing’s Psychic.”

Bai Quan also stood up from the sofa, preparing to start Chen Ming’s daily lessons.

But at this moment, he also said to Chen Ming, ”Consider this a reminder, don’t start something with others.”

”I know, I’ve seen the consequences of doing that twice already, so I won’t act against others.”

However, Chen Ming left out another part — what others do is none of his concern.

If someone really enraged him, he had ways to eliminate them without being discovered.

Bai Quan sensed the underlying meaning in Chen Ming’s words, but since Chen Ming had already said he wouldn’t act, there was nothing further to explain.

However, Chen Ming suddenly asked another question, ”When’s the next meeting with Lou Wei and them? Now that there’s a conclusion to this matter, they’re not going to have no time to finish the remaining business with us, right?”

”That won’t be the case.”

Bai Quan immediately denied Chen Ming’s assumption, roughly estimating before saying, ”It should be tomorrow. What they need to do now is quickly preserve some resources that can still be used after stepping down; everything else is insignificant, and a day should be enough for that.”

”Oh, alright.”

In the blink of an eye, a day passed.

Chen Ming returned to the meeting room where the previous meeting took place.

Just like before, Lou Wei and his group were seated in the meeting room earlier than them.

Their conditions hadn’t changed much from before.

Previously, they were anxiously awaiting judgment, but now they had already received the court’s decision.

Chen Ming still maintained the same cold expression as before.

After giving out the storage chip, he left the rest to Bai Quan to handle.

Bai Quan didn’t say much this time either. Since the matter is settled with no chance for reversal, he figured being more amiable wouldn’t hurt.

He didn’t make things difficult for others, directly handing the chip to Major General Song.

”Take a look at these, the findings we garnered in the seventeen days up to the conclusion on your side and our departure.”

Chen Ming instinctively glanced at the chip.

The number of things he managed to study during those seventeen days was not minimal.

Chen Ming could only say that, if that chip didn’t bankrupt Lou Wei, it meant he had deep pockets.

Bear in mind, the chip even contained some research data on the Synchronous Accelerator Core.

And the complete research content on the Synchronous Accelerator Core had already been sent by Bai Quan to where it needed to go.

With the previous results from the Purgatory Core as a base, Chen Ming’s submitted report was already placed in the highest priority queue awaiting review, and a reply would come soon.

According to Chen Ming’s estimates, the Synchronous Accelerator Core and the Purgatory Core were of the same level, likely earning him another first-class merit.

Lou Wei delaying the first-class merit created considerable trouble, and the compensation wouldn’t be minor.

Major General Song inserted the chip into the terminal.
