Chapter 491: Chapter 166 Handling_2

The Vice Admiral was looking at the terminal, which showed several failed call attempts, and said, ”The calls won’t go through, the signal is jammed.”

Tao Ying, who had been anxiously watching outside by the window awaiting the outcome, immediately turned and asked, ”What did you say?”

”I said the signal is jammed.”

Tao Ying quickly turned around, looked at her terminal, and questioned, ”Isn’t the signal full?”

”Faking a signal is easy.”

”What do you mean? Who would dare to...”

Halfway through the sentence, Tao Ying suddenly stopped, her face turning ashen.

There’s no need to guess who has the capability to jam the signal in a Vice Admiral’s office in the Battle Zone.

Her once aggressive demeanor instantly faded, and she asked shakily, ”Why could it happen so quickly?”

”It’s a time when we should be lying low, see, someone is taking the opportunity to kick us while we’re down.”

”Do you think we’ve provoked too many people? Who can still protect us? Your family?”

The Vice Admiral emphasized the words ”your family.”

Tao Ying quickly returned to her previous posture, pointing at the Vice Admiral, saying, ”What do you mean? Are you blaming me?”

The Vice Admiral shook his head, placed the pistol used for self-defense into the desk drawer.

He said nothing more and continued to drink tea as if nothing had happened.

”Speak up, what do you mean?”

Tao Ying quickly walked up to the Vice Admiral and slapped the desk with her hand.

At this moment, sudden chaotic footsteps were heard at the door.

Tao Ying immediately panicked, subconsciously taking a few steps back until she bumped into the sofa and stopped.

The next moment, the office door was opened directly.

A group of internal inspection team members from the military, dressed in special uniforms, entered in single file, each face stern as cold iron.

The leader of the inspection team stepped forward and said to the two in the room, ”Vice Admiral Zhu Yijing, Vice Admiral Tao Ying, we have evidence of your collusion with Luder and Zuo Jing. Please come with us.”

Zhu Yijing finished his last sip of tea and voluntarily held out his hands to the inspection team.

Tao Ying’s face turned pale, she swayed helplessly, and collapsed onto the nearby sofa.

Soon after, she was grabbed by the inspection team and forcibly taken out of the office.

The group walked among the office buildings.

The path that the inspection team took had been cleared in advance, so no one noticed the embarrassment of the two Vice Admirals, which was at least leaving them a bit of dignity.

As they walked out of the office building towards the location where the inspection team’s ship was docked.

Zhu Yijing suddenly asked the leader, ”Can I make a call?”

The leader didn’t directly refuse, as reporting at the first opportunity when there’s an issue with oneself could relatively reduce one’s own fault.

He had seen too many of these scenarios.

So he asked back, ”To whom?”

”My deputy.”

”Zhang Feng?”

”Yes.”

The leader’s expression turned peculiar, and after consulting briefly, he said, ”You may.”

He took out the Vice Admiral’s terminal that had just been confiscated and dialed Zhang Feng’s number.

Clearly, Zhang Feng had not been implicated by the Vice Admiral’s situation, and the Vice Admiral knew the reason well.

Quickly, the call was connected, and the Vice Admiral asked directly, ”Was it you?”

Zhang Feng did not reply, but the Vice Admiral seemed to know the answer.

”Hmm, got it. Go do what you want to do.”

It seemed that the Vice Admiral was not planning to drag Zhang Feng down as well.

However, the leader didn’t stop him, as the communications would be monitored, and anything inappropriate would be intercepted before reaching the other side.

He need not worry too much.

Besides, they indeed had not found any regulations violations on Zhang Feng.

Over the years, Zhang Feng seemed to only follow the Vice Admiral around.

Of course, everyone knew Zhang Feng had certainly done more than what was apparent, but everything needed evidence.

All the evidence suggested Zhang Feng had done nothing, so they couldn’t take him away without cause.

Zhang Feng sighed slightly and said, ”I’ve always been doing what I wanted.”

”But many times I have to do some incredibly foolish things that I never imagined or would never do while doing what I want.”

”Like last time, he only needed to stay there obediently as a mascot to get the credit, but someone insisted he make a significant show...”

It was clear who and what Zhang Feng was referring to, causing the Vice Admiral to glance at Tao Ying, who was so weak she couldn’t stand and needed assistance to walk.

”People can’t escape emotions, so that’s why they get confused when they care too much.”

”Moreover, they enjoy outsiders instructing insiders, it’s like this, there’s a difference between civilians and officers.”

The Vice Admiral said, suddenly asking, ”What do you think of me?”

The Vice Admiral’s career was finished, and the latter half of his life would basically be spent in prison,

As the one who personally reported the Vice Admiral, Zhang Feng was aware of this and thus felt free to speak his mind.

”Average, even below average, you promoted me from the bottom, but you also threatened me with my family.”

”And as you just said, there’s a difference between civilians and officers, let alone officers, I don’t even count as a civilian now.”

”So my feelings toward you are gratitude, hatred, but overall, just that.”

”What about Tao Ying?”

”...”

Seeing Zhang Feng’s silence, the Vice Admiral slightly sighed and continued, ”Then answer me one last question, what are your plans regarding that person?”
